Chapter 341 - A Vampire Among Us

Adam parked the car and looked at Naya.

"I make a hundred thousand dollars an hour, Naya. Why do you think I should get excited about this insignificant amount, for me?" He said and got out of the car.

Naya put her hand on the door to open it, but Adam was quicker and opened it for her.

Naya realized that they were in front of a mirrored chalet, which faced a frozen lake used for skiing. Naya knew she was in front of one of the most expensive places in Alaska.

 "Are you staying here?"

 "Yes."

"But... A night's stay in this place must be around thirty-five thousand dollars!" She said in amazement, still looking around.

"I can't say, Naya. This chalet belongs to me."

She glanced sideways at Adam, caught him looking at her dress, and then looked back at her with a smile. She felt her heart inflate with that smile. It was something that enveloped her heart with an excitement that she didn't want to feel for him. She knew that her marriage to him wouldn't be a happy one. She didn't want to fall in love. But she felt that she loved him, inexplicably.

"What are you looking at?" She asked, trying to disguise her feelings.

"I think you need to change your wardrobe." He said, and taking her arm, led her into the cottage.

He let her go when they stopped at the door, and he held out his hand to open it for her to enter.

"What's wrong with my dress? Is there a bow missing from my hair?"

"No, Naya. But I'm really surprised you didn't smell mothballs or your old aunt."

Naya's face turned red, and when she opened her mouth to reply, the door opened automatically, and they entered a very luxurious environment. A living room with state-of-the-art furniture and gadgets that Naya had never had access to before, but that wasn't what impressed her. Sitting on a comfortable sofa was Adam's double.

He smiled and stood up, holding out his hand to Naya.

She immediately felt her body shiver, and her eyes turned yellow. She could feel it. She was in front of a vampire.

Naya took a step back, and put her hand out for Adam to stand behind her, in an involuntary gesture of protection.

"Stay where you are, my fiancé. That demon is a vampire!" She said warningly.

"How do you know that?" Adam asked, frowning. But she didn't turn to look at him.

"I can feel it." She said, and stared at Maxwell dangerously. "What are you doing here? Why are you wearing my fiancé's appearance?"

Maxwell's smile widened and he put his hands in his trouser pockets.

"I didn't remember that a Luna is more sensitive to the supernatural than other werewolves." Maxwell commented, staring in awe at her freckled face.

"Answer me, you monster! Before I kill you!" She ordered.

Adam put his hand on her shoulder, and she finally turned to him, surprised by his calmness.

"He's the person I wanted to introduce to you. He's my brother."

Naya shook her head in confusion.

 "He can't be. He's a vampire, and you're a werewolf. You can't be brothers."

"But we are." Maxwell said, and sat back down.

"Don't worry, Naya, you're safe here." Adam said, inviting her to sit down.

"Say it for yourself, my brother. I can't assure you that I'll resist my thirst for blood, and feed on you, beautiful Luna." Maxwell said wryly.

 She glared at him.

"I'd like to see him try."

 Adam took a deep breath.

"Let's go into the dining room. If you're going to spend all your time arguing, let it be on a full stomach." Adam said, and stepped forward into the dining room.

Maxwell stood up and elegantly offered to let her lead the way.

"After you, you disgusting leech! I'll never turn my back on you!" Naya replied hostilely.

 Maxwell laughed.

"That's a shame, Naya. I can just imagine your ass on my cock. Would you rather face forward?"

 Naya looked at him angrily.

"Don't waste your time imagining me like that, you despicable creature. You'll never touch me."

"I hope you'll change your mind, my brother has already agreed."

"My fiancé has agreed... That I stay with you?"

"He always shares his toys with me."

 Naya stared at him indignantly.

"If you two don't get laid now, come on, lunch will get cold!" Adam shouted from inside, and Naya pushed past Maxwell, stomping hard, and he followed her into the dining room.

Adam and Maxwell waited until Naya was seated, and then they sat down.

 Maxwell looked at Naya debauched.

"I'm not on the menu, sister-in-law." Maxwell said and Naya felt her face catch fire. She really was staring at him intensely.

"Not every type of animal we kill is fit for food. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be exterminated." Naya said angrily.

"Stop it, Naya." Adam ordered calmly. "He's my brother, and if you want to be part of my family, you have to accept that he's important to me."

 Naya turned indignantly to Adam.

 "He's a vampire!"

"I know. I didn't expect you to realize that, nobody does. I should have warned you."

"Doesn't it bother you that he's a vampire?"

"No. It makes him more... Interesting."

 Naya stood up.

"Then, unfortunately, I guess you'll have to be a hundred thousand dollars poorer, my ex-fiancé, and ex-boss. I won't allow my children to grow up accustomed to the presence of this animal."

Adam and Maxwell looked at each other amused.

"You didn't tell me you already had plans to have more children, brother." Maxwell said amused.

Adam was about to reply, when Naya was quicker.

"Kids! You have children?" Naya started walking towards the door, and in a second, Maxwell was in front of her, blocking her exit.

"I must offer my condolences, my ex-sister-in-law. I should have done it as soon as you arrived, but your hostility changed our plans."

 "Condolences? Who died?"

 Maxwell feigned surprise.

"Didn't someone in your family die?"

 "No!"

"Oh!" he said and glared at her outfit. "Your choice of clothes for a date is... Pitiful." Maxwell said, and walked away from her.

 Naya turned around.

"Can you order a cab for me, please?"

"Why? Don't you have a cell phone?" Adam asked with a cold stare.

Naya was at a loss for words when she heard Maxwell's laughter.

"My God! Adam, you traveled to what century to get a bride?" He said and at Naya's indignant look, he crossed his arms. "I can take you home, Naya. And I'll return your dowry money to your father."

"My father will kill you when he smells your disgusting odor." Naya said, spitting out the words.

"So, do you agree to me taking you home?"

Naya thought quickly. She didn't have enough money for a cab. And she needed to talk to her father, carefully, to explain her reasons for not marrying Adam. His brother could drop her off near her house. If her father saw him and found out he was a vampire, she would be a prisoner again, waiting for another suitor. And she didn't want to live like that anymore.
