Anna didn't seem to be affected by the small bolts of lightning that came out of the wind and hit her body. She wasn't even scratched by the blows of the elements. Naya noticed that she seemed immune and this made her angrier, until she remembered that a Bruma was also chosen from the moon.
"Use whatever you have to, Luna!" She said and, advancing against Naya, began to deliver strong, rapid blows to her body.
Naya felt surprised, and was at a loss for action at first, but then, she conjured up the minerals, and in less than a few seconds, she had a silver knife, slashing Anna, who didn't seem to mind the blows, despite the blood squirting out of every cut Naya made.
Anna didn't draw blood from Naya's body, but her blows were strong and accurate. Naya felt as if she was breaking her bones from the inside. Every part of her body that was hit was paralyzed with pain for a few seconds. The pain didn't go away, but Naya adapted to it very quickly.
Two strong hands grabbed Anna and pulled her away from Naya. The fight was broken up.
Anna became angrier when she saw Adam bending down and cradling Naya in his arms, speaking low words that sounded like consolation. She turned to see who had taken her away, intending to burn the culprit with her eyes, and saw Maxwell's hurt eyes staring at her in a disturbing way.
"What are you doing, Anna? Have you suddenly decided that you've chosen the wrong brother?" His voice was pained, and that disarmed Anna.
"No, of course not! I... Max! You can't take my son without consulting me. I came to get him, that's all. And that woman provoked me." Anna said, pointing at Naya.
Maxwell looked at Naya. He could hear what Adam was saying to her. He turned to Anna.
"Keep repeating that to yourself, Anna. Maybe one day it will be true. E... As for Ian, he's 'our' son. I hate it when you refer to him as if he were only your son."
"Forgive me, I spoke without thinking."
"You chose without thinking too? Anna, was I just a refuge for you? Not that I mind being your refuge, but I didn't want to be just that. I wanted to be the man you love. The only man you love!"
"Max... Don't you trust me?"
"Should I?" He asked in an accusing voice.
"I chose you because I love you. I don't need refuge, Max. I need you."
Maxwell looked at her suspiciously.
"You chose me because of our children, Anna. You don't want to live away from them. You want everything."
"No, Max. Do you doubt my love? How can you doubt what we've lived day by day for years? Do you think I was pretending all this time?"
"You made your choice. If you ever try to turn back, I'll kill you Anna, just as quickly as I saved your life!" He threatened and took a deep breath. "Take us back, Anna." He said tiredly.
Anna frowned.
"How did you get here?" she asked.
"We don't know. Something to do with the moon, I think."
"Why would the moon send you? Adam's a werewolf, I understand, but you're..."
"Why don't you ask her that later? What would happen if only my brother had appeared here? Would you fuck him in front of Naya to prove that you have all the feelings?"
"Don't talk to me like that." Anna said hurt.
"Then get us back to where we came from, Anna. I'm nervous, and I need to distance myself from you. Or I'll hurt you."
Anna raised her still bleeding arms and closed her eyes.
The light shone again and when they could see again, the wedding guests were all distracted, talking amongst themselves.
Naya looked angrily at Anna and hurried away from the altar.
Adam put his hands in his trouser pockets and Ian approached him. They talked for a while, until Adam took the boy's hand and led him away.
The guests began to disperse, and Anna was confused.
"What happened, Max?"
"As soon as you disappeared, Ian told them to leave as soon as you got back."
"Ian?"
"He inherited my brother's authoritative voice. The werewolves respond to him, as if he were the Alpha himself."
"Why did everyone leave? The wedding wasn't... Concluded."
Maxwell nodded affirmatively.
"No. Naya is going to marry another man, but she asked Adam to be the first man in her life." Maxwell said and looked thoughtfully at Anna. "She said she couldn't live without experiencing the sensations her body demanded. Pleasures that only an Alpha and a Luna together can provide."
Anna felt hatred. Naya would lie with Adam as a virgin and become unforgettable for the Alpha. She had to stop it.
"Leave them alone, Anna. Adam will remain single. That should be enough for you." Maxwell said, reading the expression on Anna's face.
"I'm sorry, Max. But Adam... It's not easy to give up his love."
"You'll never have to worry about losing Adam's love. Whether he gets married or not, he'll never be able to let go of the feeling he has in his heart for you. Today, you broke his only chance of having a family. Naya was the perfect wife for Adam."
Anna thought about it, but finally accepted it. She couldn't destroy Adam's life. Probably, as soon as she left, they would be left to finish the ceremony.
Anna looked down at her bloodied arms, and then at Maxwell.
"I need to take care of those wounds."
Maxwell looked at her mercilessly.
"They're not as bad as the ones you made inside me today. Those are the wounds you'll need to take care of, so you won't be alone." Maxwell said, and walked away.
Anna was left alone. She hugged herself. She could go back in time and not go to that wedding, not fight with Luna, not hurt Maxwell's ego. But she knew it was a forbidden act. It would condemn her to live in seclusion for the rest of her life. She could never allow another person to look at her face again.
She shook her head. Everything was broken. Now she had to gather up all the pieces and fix it.
