Elliot blinks. "What?"
"I'll go with you. To ... our hometown." My voice came hoarse. Just think about it already made me nervous. But I won't back down. Elliot needs me.
He stares at me for a moment, and I see it—the flicker in his eyes. Surprise. Uncertainty. But also ... hope.
"Are you sure?"

"What about your class? Or assignment? You can't skip another class just for me ...."

He smiles. A small, weary thing. "Then let's get ready. I'll go to my apartment first to get my car and then—"
"Car? Are you thinking about driving?" I cut his sentence. Because what he said was nonsense. "Do you think I'll let you drive when you're like this? No. We'll take night train."
