Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - Slow Burning Flames

April 14th 1244, 3:00 AM

Melaich and Silvie enter the house in Orliave. Silvie takes off her gear and hangs it on a coat stand. She takes off the hair bun and slouches on a chair nearby. Her eyes look tired.

Silvie: I'm tired....

It's early in the morning. They've been travelling by rented horses for the last 8 hours to get back from Lorwin. Melaich doesn't slouch, he closes the door and sits on a chair, thinking of his next move.

Silvie looks at Melaich,

Silvie: Can we just go to sleep, eughhhh

Melaich snaps back to reality,

Melaich: Hmm?, Oh Yeah. We've got a lot of work to do tomorrow. Get as much rest as you can. We'll be going to Fortuna tomorrow.

Silvie's tired eyes light up with shock and excitement.

Silvie: Fortuna!? The Capital?

Melaich stands up and stretches his body, clearing some of the fatigue from riding a horse on and off for 8 hours. Then he starts to go to the bedroom.

Melaich: Yeah, (Yawn). I'm gonna sleep. Good night~

Silvie stands up,

Silvie: Alright then, you head to bed. I'll slip into something comfortable for sleep and come into the room.

Silvie goes into a small storage room in the corner of the house, changing from her outside wear into her silk white-nightdress. She enters the bedroom, where on a large bed, Melaich is fast asleep on the right side of the bed. His glasses on the desk next to his side of the bed.

Silvie's heart races once more as she sees Melaich on her bed, she almost hops in excitement but curbs her feelings to tend to matters at hand, which is to sleep.

She goes and lays on the left side of the bed, being careful not to make contact with him, out of respect. As she lays, her eyes uncontrollably close as she drifts into sleep.

April 14th 1244, 10:00 AM

Silvie wakes up groggily, light shining through the glass window on the right wall of the room. She turns around, half-asleep, to see Meliach trying to wake up.

Melaich: Wake up Silvie, We need to leave for the capital by 12.

Silvie: (Still Half Asleep) Capital....

The word capital rang in her mind until it clicked. When it did, she jolted upright on her bed, Melaich took a step back in shock.

Melaich: Holy shi-

Silvie: Oh sorry, didn't mean to scare you.

Melaich: I wasn't scared, just... uhh.. got jumped, yeah. Anyway, I bought some breakfast for both of us.

Melaich leaves the bedroom

Melaich: Be quick though!

Silvie gets up, and goes near the sink in the bathroom to brush her teeth, while debating whether to eat the breakfast Melaich bought first or to take a bath first. Once she finished brushing, Melaich went into the bathroom with his clothes and towel.

Melaich: Can I quickly take a Bath first?

Silvie: Yeah sure.

Melaich: Awesome. And if you feel hungry, The Breakfast's on the table.

A few minutes later

Melaich comes out of the bath, all dressed up, but his hair is still wet and glasses are all fogged up. He sees Silvie finishing the Sandwich he'd bought and signals her to get into the bath as quickly as possible.

Silvie goes to take a bath. Melaich goes into the bedroom to get all his gear ready. He takes his silver and white tinted ring that originally gave him his Magic Treasure. He doesn't need to wear it anymore but he does, because to him, that ring was an achievement.

He readies his Leather Armor which is reinforced with steel, and wears a leather bag on the side of his torso to keep larger objects that can't fit his pockets. He also wears a chain with a circular design of a dragon, its eyes have a tiny red crystal embedded into it. It was a relic from this past, from his childhood that he still keeps as a reminder.

He combs his hair and puts on his glasses, admiring his looks in the mirror when he hears the bathroom door open. Silvie comes out with a white shirt, clearly too big for her, and a brown cotton pants. Her hair wrapped in a bun with a cloth.

Silvie: Can you get out for a minute? I wanna get ready.

Melaich: Oh sure, sure.

Melaich leaves and waits for Silvie to get ready. He goes outside the house to get some wind on his face and think about his plans moving forward. He looks to his left at the two horses he and Silvie rented.

After an hour of getting ready, eating the breakfast left by Melaich, Silvie heads out the door only to see a Carriage ridden by an old man. Silvie looked at the Carriage stunned, only to then notice Melaich, putting his head out the back and waving at Silvie

Silvie: What... happened to Tom?

Melaich: Who's Tom?

Silvie: The HORSE. I named him Tom.

Melaich, unsure whether to laugh, decides to hold out on the idea and puts his head inside, just in case she punches him.

Melaich: Just get in

He holds his hand out and signals her to get in. Silvie sighs and gets into the carriage. Melaich hits the Carriage walls and the old man begins to start the carriage. Melaich then lays on the bench kept at the left side of the carriage.

Melaich: Wake me up... (Yawn) when we... reach

Melaich fell asleep almost immediately.

Silvie: Whaa, Come on...

Silvie sulks, envying Melaich who went to sleep. But, she didn't have the heart to wake him up.

The Carriage rides through many small villages and towns for 6 hours. Between these hours, initially Silvie and Melaich took turns sleeping just to be safe but later they both fell asleep from last night's work.

April 14th 1244, 6:45 PM

Carriage rider: Hey, Hey wake up now.

Silvie jolts up. Melaich stretches his arms and yawns. He looks through the carriage

Melaich: Oh- We're here.

Silvie gets down from the Carriage while Meliach pays the good man for his services. Silvie looks around the Capital of Selvaria, the City of Fortuna.

She was in a fairly empty part of the city, with a few carriages being ridden through the city and some people walking here and there.

But even from where she stood, she could see a beautiful Castle to the North-East. Fortuna was built next to an inland Sea, which had one exit and that was through the borders of the Roman Empire and through a strait located at the end of the Roman Empire.

Melaich followed Silvie as she walked down the streets of Fortuna

Melaich: That castle looks amazing, doesn't it?

Silvie: Yeah, it looks beautiful. I wonder how it looks inside. Pristine? Filled with Gold ornaments?

Melaich laughs a bit and replies,

Melaich: Well, you don't need to wonder much longer.

Silvie stops for a second while Melaich takes a few steps and turns around.

Silvie: What do you mean?

Melaich, now with a sneaky grin on his face replies,

Melaich: We're going inside the royal castle.

Silvie: WHAT!

Silvie kicks Melaich for not telling her before.

Silvie: I COULD HAVE WORN SOMETHING NICE! INSTEAD I'M IN MY NORMAL WEAR!

Melaich: Hey! Cut it out! You look fine in this dress as well.

The dress in question was a set consisting of a leather breastplate over a white shirt worn with a red skirt and a leather belt that contained one pouch on the side for essentials, this set along with her free flowing brown hair was nothing more than marvelous for any ordinary occasion. But this however was not an ordinary occasion.

The mere opportunity to step into the royal castle, where the king and queen reside is something most people achieve only a handful of times in their lifetime.

Silvie: WHAT IF I MEET THE QUEEN!?

Silvie sulked and shouted and Melaich but Melaich apologized and explained,

Melaich: The only person we're meeting here is a Royal Knight, that too, only for Information.

Silvie: What 'information' are you getting from a royal knight exactly?

Melaich: Information about the Demon Parade. The Information I got was the same everyone who got the quest for the red gem got, and it was given to the King Himself. We're here to get some more info from the one place every informant dreams of getting into. The Royal Archives.

Silvie and Melaich stop walking. They stand in front of a giant wooden gate. The gate opens and a Knight comes out. The Knight is fully armored up in Fine Royal Armor that is etched with the symbol of a Dragon, the symbol of the Selvarian Empire.

Knight: The All Seeing Informant, Melaich Vildogord and....

Silvie: Silvie Mgrath.

Knight: Silvie Mgrath? Like the Mgrath family?

Silvie: Yeah I-

Melaich interjects,

Melaich: Can we move it along? We're running low on time.

Knight looks at Melaich and sighs.

Knight: Whatever, Come on in.

The three of them entire into the castle through the huge Gate, hoping to find an answer to all their burning questions
