Rein's POV:
In my state of trying to retain clarity, a man entered. Judging by his clothes and the equipment he was holding, it was clear he was a doctor.
He walked closer and performed a few standard checkups on me before saying,
"Give her this drug," instructing the maid to administer some medication. The drug helped in calming my heart. After I took it, I felt instantly appeased, but a wave of drowsiness washed over me, making my eyelids grow heavy.
Just before I fully drifted into slumber, I faintly heard him murmur to himself,
"Who gave her this drug?"
He wasn't asking anyone in particular—just voicing a thought out loud.
"It could have killed her if she hadn't engaged in intercourse with a man. Thank God Master Jake relieved her of the heat before I came."
That was the last thing I heard before sinking into deep sleep. I didn't even know when the doctor left.

The light from the curtain woke me from slumber.
