Lucifer walked towards Thomas step by step, giving him a gentle smile to make Thomas feel more comfortable and at ease even though they both knew that Thomas was about to die.
Seeing that smile, Thomas unconsciously took a few steps back, as predicted. His face showed an expression of extreme terror.
Thomas knew that he could not defeat Lucifer and Nothing, but he still had to fight if he wanted to live. If he wanted to live, he needed to fight back.
…Or Thomas could run.
Taking advantage of the moment when Lucifer was not paying attention, Thomas quickly grabbed a clump of dirt on the ground and threw it at Lucifer, forcing him to close his eyes and stop for a few seconds.
Realizing that he had succeeded, Thomas immediately ran back to the village. Thomas was happy to know that he was still alive, but that joy…did not last long.
When Thomas ran for a few seconds, Nothing caught up with him because his speed was enhanced greatly by the red scarf, also known as Warm Winter.
