Kelsey's POV
{City Hospital - Emergency Unit - 10:07 A.M.}
We reached the hospital after I left the academy. How I got there, I had no idea. I kept my eyes on Lila and the road at the same time. My heart kept thumping hard in my chest, praying silently that nothing would happen to my daughter.
I didn't breathe until they wheeled her in.
Lila's small body lay limp on the stretcher, her arm hanging off the side like a broken doll. Blood soaked the side of her shirt. Her skin looked pale, almost see-through.
And all I could do was stand there.
"You can't go beyond this point, ma'am. Please stay here," the nurse said, trying to block my way.
"But she's my daughter! Let me in!" I tried to shove her away but the nurse was stronger than I was.
"I'm sorry. The doctors need space to work. We'll update you as soon as possible." She said, calmly and I nodded. She entered the room and the doors slammed in my face.
And then the silence hit me like a drum.
