"What?" Luke lifted his head a little.
"Where are we going?"
"I don't know, but we are going away," I said as I slowly kneeled.
I wanted to take the gun he had and give one of the guns to Luke, so we could protect ourselves in case of danger.
"Help me," I said to Luke.
He was still shaking. I know he heard me, but I don't think he was in a state to understand it or act according to it.
"Luke," I raised my voice, "Help me."
"Yes, yes, what do we do?" he said after snapping back.
His voice was still shaking, but at least he came back to his senses a little.
"Let's lift him and take his gun. I am injured, so I can't do it alone."
I actually could do it myself, but I needed my strength, so his help would be valuable.
We held the body from its arms and lifted it, and made it sit on the floor. Then found his gun on his back. It looked like an average gun we see in the movies. I took it and put it on the table.
Then I looked for his pockets. He pulled bullets out of his pocket, so I checked to get others for the revolver. Both of us having a loaded gun would increase our chances of survival.
I found the bullets in his pocket and took them out. There were 4 of them since 2 of them were already used.
I took the revolver, opened the cylinder, loaded bullets, and gave it a quick spin, followed by snapping it back into its place.
"Take this," I said, handing the revolver to Luke.
Shooting with it wasn't hard, but the recoil was too strong for me to handle. The other gun looked easier to handle to me. At least that's what I had seen in the movies.
"But I can-"
"Look, one of us would die if we played this game. There was no other way. We need to somehow escape this. You wanna live, right?"
He nodded slightly.
"Great. And to survive, we need guns." I said.
Luke slowly took the gun and looked at it.
"When you shoot, hold it with both hands and use all your strength. Or recoil might hurt you."
Luke was still looking at the gun and the body lying on the ground.
I stood up and took the other gun from the table.
Before heading toward the door and leaving the room, I looked at the wall where the rules were written. There were no new texts or warnings. I couldn't give it a meaning, but I wasn't planning to figure it out now.
I had to run.
"Let's go," I said as I took the lead.
When I arrived at the door, Luke was just standing up. But he quickly came with fast steps and was ready.
He was still shaking a bit, but he was trying to pull himself.
"Ready?"
"Y-yes"
I held the door handle and slightly opened it. I peeked through the gap to see if there was anyone. What I saw was an empty hall with no one in sight.
I quickly opened the door fully and exited the room. Luke followed me as I left and closed the door.
We were in a long white hallway that had a slight curve for a few meters.
With quick steps, I started to go through the hall, and when I reached the curve, I saw a door in front of me.
"There is a room or exit here," I said, looking back.
Luke was following, but he was being more cautious than me. Hearing the word exit, he quickened his steps.
"What do we do?" he asked as he saw the door.
"We go. Follow me," I replied as I slowly approached the door.
After a few meters, we were in front of it and waiting.
"You hear anything?" Luke whispered.
"No," I whispered back, "but we gotta go anyway."
"Okay"
I held the handle and slowly pushed it down.
Then started to slightly open the door while peeking inside. When I saw what was inside, I couldn't believe it.
It was the same room where we came out.
Seeing this, I turned back to Luke, but instead of just him, there was another man there. One of the men in the suits had taken Luke's revolver and was standing behind me.
I quickly pointed the gun toward the man and pulled the trigger.
Click!
"Wha-" I blurted out.
Click!
Click!
Click!
With panic, I pulled the trigger multiple times, but it didn't shoot.
I was confused. The gun should have been fully loaded.
"We need to continue the game," the man said, "please enter the room and take your seats.
