Chapter 5 - chapter-5 To the training ground

POV: Leekon:

I closed the door behind me and, having nothing else to do, decided to start some basic exercises: push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and many others. Planet Vegeta has gravity ten times that of Earth, so even a bodyweight workout was enough to leave me exhausted after a few hours, even though I had a much stronger body than my previous one. After exercising, I decided to sleep to prepare for tomorrow's training.

I quickly took off my armor and lay on the bed, only in my underwear, no fuss. I wanted the next day to arrive soon. As my eyes were closed, trying to sleep, thoughts invaded my mind. "It feels like every kid's dream – I mean, it's not every day you wake up in an anime world with powers. Counting the weeks in the incubator, it's been just over a month since I've been in this world." In the whirlwind of thoughts about my past life and hopes for this new one, I drifted off and slept like a baby in a surprisingly comfortable bed.

I frowned, feeling something tickle my nose. "Damn it, what is that? It's furry..."

ATTACK!

I woke up annoyed, looking for the culprit: "Who did that?"

Then, beside my bed, trying to hide a smile and wagging her tail in front of me, was my mother. "Yes, you overslept, kid; it's almost time for training." 'I guess my workout yesterday wore me out more than I expected,' I thought.

I stared at her for a few seconds. I didn't expect that kind of teasing from her, so I found it funny, which greatly alleviated my irritation at being woken up that way.

Sigh~~

"Thanks for waking me up, then," I said with a smile at her.

She looked at me for a few seconds before turning to leave my room, but stopped at the door and said: "Come on, Leekon, let's have breakfast before we go."

I jumped out of bed and ran as fast as I could to the kitchen. Arriving there, I already saw a gigantic amount of food on the table, as much as I'd eaten the night before. Without wasting time, we devoured everything she had prepared. Strangely, the meat in this world is much better than in my past life. Maybe it's the ki or my mother simply cooks very well; I'm very inclined to believe the latter.

After we finished eating, we sat in silence at the table, a silence that wasn't awkward, but clearly each of us wanted to start a conversation.

"So, mother, what's your name?" I asked, because until now I didn't know, and what kind of son doesn't know his own mother's name?

She looked at me strangely: "You didn't get any information about me during your time in the incubator?"

"I only knew you were my mother, but not your name."

She looked deep into my eyes and said: "My name is Vanie, but keep calling me mother if you want." From her gaze, she really preferred me to call her mother.

I nodded: "Vanie, a good name."

"Come on, Leekon, it's time for us to go." As she said that, I followed her to the front of the house, where she suddenly stopped, reached out her hand, and grabbed me by the collar of my armor, holding me like a cat carrying its kitten. I started to open my mouth to say something, but before I could, she said: "Don't bite your tongue," and began to slowly ascend into the air.

'What the hell?!' I struggled not to panic at her sudden action and just tried to enjoy the view of the clouds slowly approaching.

I looked at the receding ground; people started to look smaller and smaller, some walking, others flying. "Get ready, kid."

"Okay, mother," she accelerated upon hearing my voice. I felt the wind hit my face, my hair flying back — what an incredible sensation. "I want to do that myself!" As we passed a mountain range, in the distance, I saw a strangely flat area on the mountain, looking like someone had molded it into an arena.

She landed smoothly there, letting me go. I was ready and landed on my feet. "Stay where you are," she said, walking to the other side of the arena. There was a table with a few things: a glass container with some seeds, a scouter, and a kind of protective goggles. Beside the table, there were some raised planting beds?

Anyway, she picked up the scouter and said: "First, let's see your power level." The device began to hum and the count rose to 768. So, my power had increased; it must have been due to my ki training. She nodded: "A good level to start."

Then her voice took on a professorial tone and she said: "Son, Saiyans are a race that grows through combat. We get stronger by spilling our own blood and that of our enemies." She said, looking at me, checking if I was paying attention. "But to avoid dying in combat while seeking more strength, we need to be our best to that point; we need to be prepared."

'She's saying I need to be strong so I don't die like an idiot facing something I can't defeat just to try and get stronger or for the pleasure of combat. I can already imagine several Saiyans dying like that.'

"Either we spill our blood in combat or in a controlled environment," she said with a scary smile, like someone who knows you're screwed.

Then, she picked up one of the seeds and threw it into the dirt. "In this low-quality soil, a very strong one won't sprout," she whispered.

After hearing that, I already knew where this was going. I was going to fight a Saibaman, those damn cabbage-headed goblins. I just hoped I wouldn't end up like the god Yamcha. "Son, this will be your first combat lesson; give it your all to defeat it." Then, something sprouted from where she threw the seed, which transformed into a humanoid with a wrinkled head, the face of someone who'd like to shut you up, and worst of all, it's a little taller than me.

"This one only has a power level of 1000; do your best to defeat it."

"With pleasure," I replied with a smile on my face. "So this is going to be my first here, haha. I hope it's fun."

My mother crossed her arms as she ordered the Saibaman: "Attack the child."

I quickly assumed a fighting stance, waiting for my enemy to advance towards me.

Ugh, I'm so annoyed! I accidentally deleted half the chapter while I was in the middle of writing. The idea was to have two chapters out today: this one with the MC and his mom plus the start of training, and the next all about the Saibaman fight. I'll finish it up tomorrow or the day after.
