Chapter 90 - Saint Saturn. Do You Wish to Dance Too?
Saint Saturn admitted he had been careless.
He instinctively overlooked the powers of the Goro Goro no Mi. No matter how well hidden they were, to a user of the Goro Goro no Mi, locating Celestial Dragons was as easy as flipping a hand.
And his greatest mistake had been assigning too few guards. He should have prioritized evacuating a batch of Celestial Dragons first.
But now, it was too late. Renji hadn't just killed so many Celestial Dragons—he had done it while livestreaming. The whole world was watching him kill them.
If others started mimicking this act, it would be a huge blow to the World Government.
He was shattering the myth of the Celestial Dragons that had existed in the hearts of the people.
Saint Saturn also understood clearly—Renji must be eliminated. Otherwise, if he managed to kill so many Celestial Dragons and then leave the God Valley alive, the meaning behind that would be far more significant.
He had originally thought CP0 could stall for a while until reinforcements arrived, giving him time to evacuate the Celestial Dragons.
But to his shock, Renji had taken care of everyone here in an instant.
And Saint Saturn's true body hadn't wanted to be seen by the world during the broadcast either.
But things were no longer under his control. All electronics on the island had been hijacked by Renji, and blocking the signal was impossible. Even though the World Government was desperately trying to shut down the broadcast—
That newspaper agency was clearly determined to air it, using the event to boost their own fame. Every time the signal was cut, it would come back the next second.
As a result, they could only send Marines from various locations to drive civilians away. But that was like trying to put out a wildfire with a cup of water.
Now, revealing his true self no longer mattered. What mattered was eliminating Renji once and for all.
Click—
Just as Saint Saturn's staff was about to strike Renji, a silver-white glow enveloped Renji's body. The silver energy quickly expanded his bones, and a half-skeletal energy figure wielding a longsword emerged before him.
What was that!?
Saint Saturn's eyes narrowed, a flicker of surprise flashing through his mind. He knew Renji was a Goro Goro no Mi user—but this clearly wasn't that power.
Just now, in that instant, he had frozen Renji in place, preventing him from escaping. A Goro Goro no Mi user whose movements were restricted—he had been confident he could kill him in one strike.
But that silver energy had completely blocked it.
As Renji turned around, Saint Saturn was shocked when he saw his eyes.
Such wicked eyes.
Blood-red pupils—eyes he had never seen before. They even seemed to cause changes in his own vision. Was this a special racial ability?
Saint Saturn silently calculated in his heart and formed a new hypothesis about Renji's powers.
Given that Renji was a known Devil Fruit user, the only other explanation for his abilities was that he belonged to some special race. And indeed, there were many races in this world that possessed unique powers—but this kind, he had never seen before.
"Who would've thought—one of the Five Elders of the World Government would resort to a sneak attack?"
Renji turned around and mocked Saint Saturn with a smirk. He wasn't surprised at all that the man had come for him.
But when Saint Saturn heard Renji expose his identity so casually, even he was shocked. His identity was supposed to be absolutely classified.
There was no way Renji should have known who he really was.
But thanks to the livestream, now the entire world had heard it. Everyone now knew—the old man before them was one of the top authorities of the World Government!
"Hey! This is no time to get distracted!!"
Inside God Valley, Whitebeard had just barely blocked a strike from his opponent, a dark glint flashing in his eyes.
This guy named Saint Garling was strong!
"Tch hahahaha! That guy actually got targeted by one of the Five Elders?"
Rocks laughed heartily and casually blocked a combined attack from Roger and Garp.
Originally, he had planned to seize the treasure first and then deal with the Celestial Dragons. But before he could even act, Roger had come looking for him. Naturally, he wouldn't hold back—after all, Roger was a loser from their last fight.
He had the upper hand at first, but with Garp joining in, and other top elites and Marines hidden by the World Government joining the fray, Rocks was now on the defensive.
Deep down, he was a bit frustrated. He knew this team was thrown together temporarily, and maybe not too reliable.
But still—this unreliable?
From what he sensed with his Kenbunshoku Haki, Whitebeard was indeed fighting. His Gura Gura no Mi was active.
But Charlotte Linlin and Kaido didn't seem interested in fighting at all. Shiki was in battle, but was being held off by Rayleigh and Jabba. John was busy with treasure, and the others each had their own agenda.
This left him in a somewhat awkward position.
"Brat, you seem to know a lot about me?"
Saint Saturn spoke coldly. At this point, he didn't consider Renji a real threat.
No matter how strong he was, he wasn't Nika. He wasn't Joy Boy. Today, he had to die here.
Still, his powers had piqued Saint Saturn's interest. As the World Government's head of scientific research, he had long been intrigued by the unique abilities of special races.
"It's nothing much. A sneak attack from the filthy World Government—just what I'd expect."
"When it comes to filth, aren't you pirates worse?"
Saint Saturn responded blandly.
"Is that so? True, pirates are filthy. But they're still better than those so-called Celestial Dragons. You know, it felt really good killing all those Celestial Dragons today. What about you? Watching them die right in front of you? Sure, they may be trash in your eyes, but doesn't it sting your pride? Especially with so many people watching?"
Renji didn't deny the filth of pirates. Pirates like Luffy were rare exceptions.
Most pirates were greedy, willing to kill even their own captain for profit. Burning, looting, and murdering—that was the true nature of piracy.
But in the end, what was more disgusting than pirates was the World Government.
If not for those Celestial Dragons, there probably wouldn't be so many pirates in this world in the first place.
"Brat, still mouthing off when death is at your door?"
Saint Saturn spoke calmly. Was this just to satisfy his ego for a moment?
Once he captured or killed Renji, he'd take a good look at those eyes of his.
Saint Saturn stared deeply at Renji, his arms tensing as both sides prepared to strike.
He still couldn't determine the nature of Renji's abilities, but he didn't have much time left. The moment Renji began killing Celestial Dragons, he had already received Imu's orders—since they couldn't control the livestream anymore, then the entire island had to be erased. Let the whole world witness the power of the World Government. That alone would crush countless rebellious thoughts.
Therefore, he had to either kill Renji during the livestream or leave after ensuring that when the time came, everything on this island would be buried with it!
"Saint Saturn—"
"Hmm?"
This brat…
Seemed like he was about to say something?
But in the next second—before Saturn could react—Renji vanished from his sight. He didn't even have time to be surprised before Renji's foot smashed into him, sending him flying.
His body was hurled toward a mountain. But before he could crash into it, Renji appeared above and smashed him into the ground with a single punch.
Boom!
A crater dozens of meters deep opened up, and Renji lifted Saturn by the neck with one hand, his gaze indifferent as he asked:
"Do you wish to dance too?"
"Wh-what!?"
Saint Saturn's injuries began rapidly healing. His pupils struggled to focus on Renji as a sense of frustration passed through his mind.
He had clearly used his ability to immobilize Renji—how could he still move!?
Renji's grip on his neck tightened. Saturn felt his breathing grow more labored and realized this wasn't just a matter of humiliation anymore.
He couldn't worry about hiding his true form as a Devil Fruit user.
Just as he was about to unleash his power, a gust of wind tore through them. Renji was swept up and blown away, flying with the wind.
Turning his head toward the edge of the battlefield, Renji saw four figures watching from afar. He dusted off his clothes, which visibly irritated one of them.
So their attack only managed to add a bit of dust to his clothes?
"Saint Saturn-sama, you're looking quite disheveled."
The four included a masked man, a long-haired woman, a young girl with a gun, and a young man with a scar beneath his left eye.
They were three members of the Holy Knights and one of the hidden top agents of the World Government.
After receiving Imu's final command, their hunt had been canceled and they were dispatched to assist Saint Saturn in killing Renji. There were others sent to deal with Rocks as well.
The rest didn't matter much to Imu. As long as the slaves, Renji, and Rocks were eliminated, the issue would be resolved.
In the end, Imu would use that "thing" to wipe out the island and everyone on it, while Renji and Rocks would be dealt with directly by her elite forces.
"So, the decision's been made?"
Saint Saturn spoke indifferently. Though slightly displeased, he understood—they were also Celestial Dragons like him, after all.
Seeing them here, he could tell Imu had already made her choice.
"Yeah, we can't cut the broadcast anymore. Better to finish this quickly."
Without the livestream, many things could have been handled cleanly.
But thanks to the broadcast and Morgans relentlessly covering it—using newspaper birds to distribute live printed bulletins across the world—the whole world now knew what was happening in God Valley.
On one hand, it skyrocketed the paper's circulation, since much of the world controlled by the Government had lost livestream access. On the other hand, many people wanted to know what was going on.
Seeing the profit, Morgans had no intention of stopping.
That put the World Government in a tough spot. Their only option was to end this quickly and show the world their true strength.
"That guy is strange."
Though Saturn's injuries had fully healed—Renji's two punches had packed serious force—they were nothing he couldn't recover from in minutes.
Still, Renji's strange abilities had caught him off guard.
More than that, he was genuinely intrigued. Perhaps, after this, Renji's body would be worth studying in depth. But that meant killing him before that "thing" arrived. Otherwise, finding his body later might be impossible.
The others said nothing—they were well aware that Renji wasn't ordinary.
"That guy's dead for sure."
Aboard a Navy warship, an admiral with curly hair puffed on a cigarette, watching the livestream and mentally sentencing Renji to death.
As an admiral, he had access to quite a bit of intel. Although Renji's display had surprised him, the current situation left Renji with no way to fight back.
There was no one in this world who could take on two admirals at once.
And the combat power of these people together far exceeded that.
"I see..."
Vice Admiral Tsuru bowed her head in thought, but her heart harbored a different idea.
"Five versus one?"
Renji looked at the group with amusement.
This setup… felt oddly familiar.
"Ah, don't call us despicable, alright? After all, you're a pirate. As representatives of justice, we of the World Government are simply here to eliminate you!"
The little girl with the gun clearly had watched Renji's previous broadcast and threw his words back at him.
She didn't really care about the other Celestial Dragons, but their honor—that was everything to her.
Anyone who trampled on the pride of the Celestial Dragons—
She would never let them live!
"What a shame. Such a cute little boy, and soon you'll just be a corpse."
The long-haired woman licked her lips with a twisted smile. She loved blood, loved watching living people slowly die.
Their struggle, their desperate desire to live—the pleasure right before death—that was what she found most thrilling.
"I won't call you despicable. Five-on-one sounds like a fun warm-up."
With that, Renji formed a hand seal.
To the astonishment of the five, twenty-five clones appeared and surrounded them.
"This is five-on-one. Don't call me despicable now—after all, you're the Celestial Dragons.
So here's a question:
Should all twenty-five clones use Susanoo?"
