Chapter 29 Boy and Girl
"Refusing a lady isn't something a gentleman would do, now is it, sir?"
On a road flanked by hills and woodlands, a beautiful blonde girl with a stunning figure said this to the young man in front of her, who was clearly from an Eastern country.
The girl's expression was one of displeasure, while the boy—well, let's just say he appeared to be yawning…
However, this seemingly ordinary boy was, in truth, one of the most terrifying beings in the world.
Neither human nor god, he wielded divine power in a human body. Unbound by the collective rules and powers formed through thousands of years of human civilization, nor by the laws of nature and heaven, he was one of the seven beings known as God Slayers—the great fools. This boy was the seventh of the era, and one of only seven ever in total—the Demon King from Japan, Hikigaya Hachiman.
By the way, Hikigaya wasn't yawning—he was thinking.
He thought to himself, "I'm such a good guy."
Why? Because if it had been a man doing this right now, that guy would've already been punched away without even getting the chance to speak…
No exaggeration—he'd have been sent flying properly. And if he hadn't flown, Hachiman would've considered trying again.
But since it was a girl, and one with pleasing looks and a great figure...
Right now, Hikigaya was considering whether he should plant this girl head-first into the ground—like a spring onion—because she didn't seem likely to shut up otherwise. That was unpleasant for his ears.
Ever since he was reincarnated as a God Slayer, he had no intention of letting himself be mistreated again. But lately, he'd gotten a bit too soft. Time to get serious.
So he decided to play it "peacefully" this time—maybe just tease this girl, who was obviously a magician.
"Do you not understand Italian?" the girl continued. "Coming here without knowing Italian—that's so stupid. So, which country are you from... Could you at least say something?"
That arrogant attitude of hers—it felt oddly familiar. He could swear he'd seen it before.
Hikigaya rubbed his chin, thinking.
Lately, his life had been far from positive—it was all fighting and killing, which made him nostalgic for the good old days of acting cool in school.
Unfortunately, it was currently the dreaded winter vacation. If only I could manipulate time like Di Jun, he thought, then I could end winter break right now!
Refocusing on the girl in front of him, he noticed her expression had changed from annoyed to sympathetic.
"I sincerely apologize for pestering you without realizing your inconvenience. That was very improper of me."
She looked genuinely polite, but what was up with that look of pity?
After a moment's thought, Hikigaya finally spoke: "It's fine. I forgive you."
How amusing—her expression now shifted to anger.
"You're not mute?" Her face looked a bit red, but Hikigaya didn't remember doing anything to embarrass her.
"You were being all polite just now. You're really fickle," Hikigaya said generously, waving his hand. "But I forgive you. Goodbye. Let's play again next time."
He walked past the girl.
Then suddenly, he heard the wind whistle near his ear—the girl had launched an angry strike at him.
A textbook martial arts move—an elbow strike aimed at his waist, and quite powerful too—for a normal person, anyway.
Hikigaya sensed magic in the blow. It wasn't purely physical; clearly, it was magically enhanced.
"Who the hell is playing with you?" the girl shouted as she struck. Her face was redder than before—clearly from anger.
Hikigaya was momentarily surprised, then enlightened. So that blush from earlier was out of rage, huh.
He let the girl's elbow hit his waist.
"Oww!" A scene similar to what once happened to Hiratsuka Shizuka played out again—the blonde girl clutched her arm in tears.
After undergoing four divine power transformations, Hikigaya's enhancements weren't just about gaining new authorities.
Look at that cute, twisted little face—what a satisfying kind of sour.
Still, despite her dramatics, the girl was lucky. She'd encountered a kind-hearted God Slayer like him. If it had been Voban instead, she'd probably be ashes by now.
After giving one last reluctant glance at her pained expression, Hikigaya walked away, both satisfied and regretful.
Though the girl glared furiously at him, she didn't step forward again to ask for more pain. She watched his figure disappear down the road, a thoughtful look appearing on her face.
As for Hikigaya, after ditching the blonde girl, he continued walking along the road.
Both sides seemed to be used for sheep grazing. As time passed, he saw more and more flocks of sheep.
The free-range style of shepherding was reminiscent of Tibet in China. Although Tibet was far more spacious, this place seemed to have even more grass needed for grazing.
In any case, the environment here was very pleasant to Hikigaya. He continued walking at a normal human pace until the scenery changed.
Ahead was a seascape: blue Mediterranean waters beside rows of vacation homes. The azure sky was dotted with white clouds, and on the sea were small islands and reefs. The coastal town wasn't just filled with colorful houses but also vibrant flowers, lovely bays, sandy beaches, and a backdrop of blue skies and white clouds—making it the kind of picturesque place that would make anyone stop and admire.
Hikigaya entered the town and quickly figured out that tourism was the main industry. After asking around, he learned the villas were all rented to tourists. There were many hotels and restaurants by the sea, but the tourist season was during the height of summer. Now, it was definitely the off-season.
He walked onto the beach. Though there weren't tourists, a few local people could still be seen. Their lifestyle was leisurely. The Sardinians drove to the beach, parked, set up folding chairs, and read the paper by the shore…
Hikigaya paused and looked back. Facing the empty beach, he revealed a strange smile.
In the next moment, he kicked off the ground. In the shocked eyes of a few locals on the beach, his entire body shot into the air, then suddenly bent midair at an almost right-angle turn—without any curve or compromise—before vanishing at even greater speed into the sky.
"He even knows aerial kicks, that kind of expert skill?" came an indignant voice.
Ripples appeared in the air on part of the beach, revealing a blonde girl in a red dress. She was as beautiful as a rose in full bloom. Despite her sudden and impossible appearance, the local men were so stunned they completely forgot to question it.
Her beauty, like it had been crafted to perfection—even when she wore an angry expression, it was still pleasing to the eye.
But the anger only flashed briefly before she smiled.
It wasn't a pitiful smile that made you want to protect her. It was the proud, regal smile of a lioness—the queen of beasts. Clearly, this girl was not only beautiful but also had a terrible, wild personality, untamable and unruly.
"How interesting. An Easterner, huh? In the name of the Blandelli family, I swear—I'll capture you, defeat you, and then make you tell me your name!"
