c81: Frieza's 100% Strength
Li Xu clutched Bulma tightly in his arms, his heart still pounding from the emotional whiplash.
"H-Husband… you're squeezing the air out of me," Bulma wheezed with a wry smile.
"Bulma, how are you even alive?" Li Xu asked in disbelief, his hands trembling.
"Have you forgotten? I'm immortal now," Bulma giggled, brushing some dust from her clothes. Earlier, Frieza had indeed struck her with a brutal blow, but without damage to her soul, her body regenerated thanks to her divine nature.
"Right… how could I forget that?"
Li Xu smacked his forehead. The despair of her apparent death had overwhelmed his rational mind, clouding the memory of her new status since receiving the immortality-granting divine ki infusion during the Universe Fusion arc.
"But why did it take you so long to recover?" he asked, recalling how Zamasu had regenerated almost instantly in the manga.
"It was my first time facing such a massive energy shock," Bulma explained. "My soul was intact, but the disintegration of my physical body took longer than I expected. I think I'll adapt better next time."
"I never want there to be a 'next time,'" Li Xu said, pulling her close again. Even if she couldn't die permanently, the pain of seeing her injured was unbearable.
"I love you, you big softy," Bulma said and kissed his cheek.
"Dad… Mom… gross!"
The two little Saiyans, Li Yi and Bra, covered their eyes but peeked through their fingers, giggling.
Bulma flushed pink, her face redder than a Kaioken aura. She pulled away from Li Xu with a flustered squeak.
"You two! How dare you tease your own mother?" Li Xu pretended to scowl. "Your training regimen is doubling when we get home!"
"Nooo, Dad! I promise I won't do it again!" Bra pleaded dramatically, tears welling in her eyes.
"Husband, don't scare them too much."
Bulma gave him a look, though she knew Bra's crocodile tears were just her usual ploy to avoid training.
Suddenly
Buzz!
A tremor of energy rippled through the air. Li Xu's face grew serious. He turned sharply toward the northwestern sky.
"What is it?" Bulma asked, puzzled.
"Frieza's ki... it's still there."
Li Xu's eyes narrowed. That ominous, burning presence still surged with fury and malice. He realized now why the system hadn't flagged the mission as complete. The final confrontation had yet to come.
"Bulma, stay here with Li Yi and Bra. Frieza survived the Kamehameha. I need to end this once and for all."
"Be careful," Bulma nodded. There was no room for recklessness now. She understood how strong Frieza still was, especially if he hadn't used his full power yet.
"Kids, stay close to your mom. Protect her at all costs."
Li Xu gave one final glance, then launched into the sky with a sonic boom.
Meanwhile
The impact crater left by the earlier Kamehameha had become a smoldering pit. Rocks were melted, the terrain was warped—but from its center, a shape began to stir.
"Saiyan... monkey…"
Frieza's body rose slowly, his golden armor cracked, his face contorted with rage.
His fingers clenched into a trembling fist.
"I'll kill you with my full power, you wretched mongrel!!"
Dark lightning crackled around him. The veins in his arms bulged. His muscles expanded, skin tightening with strain. He had entered the 100% Full Power Form the same transformation used against Goku on Namek in Dragon Ball Chapter 321.
The planet trembled with pressure as Frieza's full power radiated outward.
"LI XU!!!"
Frieza's roar echoed like thunder.
Frieza began raising his ki, preparing to unleash 100% of his power. Violent, scorching winds howled around him, distorting the air. Though his Final Form had incredible potential, it placed immense strain on his body when pushed to its full capacity something Goku had observed during their battle on Namek (Dragon Ball, Vol. 27, Ch. 323).
"Ugh...!"
The ground split beneath Frieza's feet. Jagged fissures spread outward like spiderwebs, and gravel rose into the air under the pressure of his expanding energy.
"Ninety percent… Ninety-one…"
By the time Li Xu arrived, Frieza's power level had climbed to ninety-eight percent. Yet Li Xu did nothing to stop him he welcomed the challenge of facing Frieza at full strength.
"Li Xu!"
Son Goku arrived via Instant Transmission, accompanied by Piccolo, Krillin, and Son Gohan.
"Where's Tagoma?" Li Xu asked. Earlier, the intensity of his clash with Frieza had caused their battlefield to shift far away.
"He's dead. I took him down," Goku replied with a serious expression.
Li Xu's gaze turned to Piccolo. He immediately noticed the massive increase in the Namekian's power over 2 million. It was clear that Piccolo had assimilated with Nail. In the manga (Dragon Ball, Vol. 26, Ch. 317), such fusion allowed Piccolo to reach new levels of strength, nearly matching Frieza's second form.
Back during the battle in the valley, Nail had been heavily wounded by Vegeta, who had surpassed a million in power. Piccolo, even with backup, wouldn't have stood a chance so they had made a desperate move. Nail and Piccolo had fused, defeating Vegeta. But Vegeta, on the brink of death, was saved by Goku, who had been inspired by his rival's tenacity.
"Li Xu, do you really think you can defeat Frieza at full power?" Goku asked, watching Frieza's growing aura.
"I can. I'm ready," Li Xu answered calmly. His confidence wasn't bravado it came from real, tangible power.
"Then I'll leave it to you. As much as I'd love to fight him again... the gap is just too wide now," Goku admitted with a faint smile.
"Aaargh!!"
Frieza let out a thunderous roar, completing his transformation to 100% Full Power. His muscular frame bulged, and purple veins pulsed across his pale body. This was the same overwhelming form he used against Goku in Dragon Ball, Vol. 27, Ch. 324.
"Everyone, clear out!" Li Xu ordered. He needed space to fight freely, without distractions.
"Got it."
The group backed off to a safe distance, but kept watch. They knew this battle would shape the fate of Namek.
"Filthy Saiyan! This time, I'll crush your bones one at a time!" Frieza snarled.
Now fully powered, his frame looked impossibly dense, radiating molten energy.
"Let's see if you've got the strength to back up that mouth," Li Xu said coolly. With a surge of power, golden lightning crackled around him as he transformed into Super Saiyan 2 his aura blazing with raw electricity.
His base power had climbed to 200 million, and with the 100x multiplier of SSJ2, he stood at 20 billion. But channeling the Law of Force, as described in earlier chapters, his effective combat power surged to 56 billion—far exceeding Frieza's full power output of 50 billion.
"Another transformation?!" Goku exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with anticipation. "I'll reach that someday…"
"Li Xu's power level has shot past Frieza's!" Krillin said, jaw dropping. "I can feel it his aura is overwhelming!"
"What an ugly form," Frieza sneered, infuriated. Without another word, he charged at Li Xu, fists flying.
Whoosh!
But Li Xu vanished in a blink, reappearing several meters away. Frieza's eyes widened he hadn't even sensed the movement.
"Damn you!"
Frieza spun and attacked again. Again, Li Xu dodged without effort.
**"Running away already, Saiyan?!" Frieza spat, livid.
"No," Li Xu smirked. "I'm just showing you how outclassed you are."
Boom!
Suddenly, Li Xu was in front of Frieza, driving a punch into his gut. Frieza's body doubled over, and Li Xu vanished once more—returning to where he'd stood, like a phantom.
"He's fast!" Piccolo said, unable to track his movement.
"Something's off…" Goku frowned. He could sense the change, but couldn't quite grasp it.
Boom!
Another strike landed this time, a precise punch to Frieza's core. Again, Frieza didn't react in time.
The tide had turned.
