Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Such Ruthless Moves

Lone Wolf, who had fallen by the doorway, sat on the ground dumbfounded, cradling a bouquet of flowers in his hands that seemed to have appeared there unknowingly, staring blankly at Wang Yan.

As the chief bodyguard of the Beiming Family, Lone Wolf's martial skills were not empty boasts. In his eyes, dealing with a few retired special forces soldiers was no problem.

When he had ambushed Wang Yan from behind, it was already considered taking advantage of his own strength against a weaker opponent, yet Lone Wolf did not hold back, and his strike was ruthless.

This punch, guaranteed by Lone Wolf, should have made Wang Yan vomit blood and then die from energy depletion three days later.

However, just as his punch was about to land on Wang Yan, something inexplicable happened. Lone Wolf saw a blur in front of his eyes, and Wang Yan suddenly turned around in an instant, also delivering a punch to meet Lone Wolf's fist while simultaneously placing the bouquet in Lone Wolf's arms.

Although Wang Yan moved quickly, Lone Wolf sneered when he saw Wang Yan dare to punch against his fist.

His punch could kill a bull, let alone Wang Yan, who was even distracted by placing flowers in his arms.

But just as the fists collided, Lone Wolf immediately sensed something was wrong.

It felt as if his fist had not encountered another fist, but rather a massive mountain, an immovable giant mountain.

"How can there be such powerful strength?"

As Lone Wolf was in horror, the massive force from Wang Yan's fist had already propelled him backwards, sending Lone Wolf flying like a tattered sack. He arced through the air, crashed through the door, and landed on the ground.

Even as he was hurled away, Lone Wolf could not comprehend how Wang Yan managed both to knock him flying and to place the bouquet into his arms at the same time.

It seemed as if in front of Wang Yan, he was just like a child, completely at his mercy.

Seeing Lone Wolf being knocked away, Beiming Bufan was shocked, knowing the extent of Lone Wolf's skill. Otherwise, he wouldn't have paid a high price to hire him; how could Lone Wolf be sent flying by a single punch from Wang Yan?

Xiahou Que was even more dumbfounded, as Lone Wolf was definitely an expert in his eyes; could an expert also fail?

Only Beiming Xue was exceedingly delighted, though she thought it was expected because she had witnessed Wang Yan dodge bullets.

Wang Yan showed no concern about having knocked Lone Wolf away. No matter how strong Lone Wolf was, he was insignificant in Wang Yan's eyes, so Wang Yan's face showed not the slightest emotion.

The more expressionless Wang Yan was, the more unfathomable everyone found him, but their gazes toward Wang Yan had completely changed.

The door crashed open, and a gentle breeze blew through, reaching the hospital bed. Elder Beiming, whose breathing had been growing weaker, suddenly returned to normal and began snoring, falling asleep.

Seeing this, Beiming Bufan widened his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing.

While Wang Yan knocking Lone Wolf away wouldn't have meant much to Beiming Bufan, Wang Yan's words proven true were what most deeply amazed him.

"You…oh, Brother Wang, what on earth is going on?" Beiming Bufan was about to call Wang Yan by his name but stopped abruptly, changing his address to Brother Wang.

Standing by, Beiming Xue, upon hearing Wang Yan was now considered a senior to her, felt no discomfort due to Beiming Bufan's respect toward him, instead feeling happy for Wang Yan.

Standing aside, Dr. Smith was also dumbfounded. From a Western medical standpoint, Elder Beiming could have been declared dead. But now, Wang Yan not only revived him but also had him recover immediately.

Everyone's eyes were on Wang Yan, eager to know the answer.

Wang Yan gave a faint smile and said, "Originally, I was puzzled as to why the Elder should have awakened today but remained unconscious until I discovered the bouquet just now. It was then I realized the Elder was poisoned."

"Poisoned? How could he be poisoned? Was it because of that bouquet? Why aren't we affected?" Beiming Bufan exclaimed in shock.

Not only Beiming Bufan but even Beiming Xue and others displayed confused expressions. Only Lone Wolf outside the door turned pale.

Wang Yan smiled and said, "The poisoning was due to a few Drunken Immortal Spirit Flowers within the bouquet."

"Drunken Immortal Spirit Flowers?" Beiming Bufan was baffled, though Beiming Xue knew them as merely ordinary flowers available in the market.

Wang Yan continued, "In itself, the Drunken Immortal Spirit Flower isn't much, just having a unique scent. Yet, I found an artifact carved from Qi Ling Fragrant Wood in this room." He pointed to a wooden carving hanging on the wall as he spoke.

"This is a treasure my father collected in his youth, hung here for decades. Could it have poisoned my father?" Beiming Bufan grew more confused the more he listened.

Wang Yan chuckled and said, "Individually, these items are harmless. However, as recorded in the Poison Scripture, the aroma of Drunken Immortal Spirit Flowers and Qi Ling Fragrant Wood together forms a deadly poison. Healthy individuals wouldn't be greatly affected, but those with weak constitutions would fall into a comatose state similar to death. Continued exposure would lead to deeper poisoning and instant death, just as Elder Beiming was."

Upon hearing this, it seemed to Beiming Bufan as if he were listening to a fantasy tale, unable to believe it at first, but the fact that Elder Beiming had truly returned to normal supported the truth of Wang Yan's words.

Dr. Smith shook his head vehemently, exclaiming, "NO, NO, this is utter nonsense, complete and utter nonsense."

Wang Yan smiled calmly and said, "If you don't believe it, take the flowers and the Qi Ling Fragrant Wood, and take three deep breaths. I guarantee you'll sleep for three days and nights, possibly even with your mouth twisted afterward."

Hearing this, Beiming Xue also chuckled, "If you don't believe it, go ahead; the flowers and carving are right there. It's just three breaths; what are you afraid of?"

Dr. Smith's expression flickered, changing multiple times before he finally did not dare venture towards the carving.

He coldly snorted, stating, "Hmph, I won't stoop to the level of a child. I'm leaving."

Then, feigning anger, Dr. Smith actually skulked away.

Beiming Bufan paid no mind to Smith's departure. Instead, he looked towards Wang Yan and asked, "Brother, when can my father awaken?"

Wang Yan was about to answer when he glanced at the dour-faced Lone Wolf outside the door and said, "He'll definitely awaken by tomorrow morning, but for now, it's imperative the patient isn't disturbed. Everyone else, apart from me, should leave."

At this moment, Beiming Bufan followed Wang Yan's instructions almost instinctively, leading everyone out of the room. As for Lone Wolf standing by the door, he didn't even spare a glance.

Wang Yan shut the door, and Beiming Xue, unwilling to leave, stayed in the room with Wang Yan.

Lone Wolf returned to his room, sulking. The other bodyguards, aware that Lone Wolf had lost face, dared not disturb him.

Little did they know, once Lone Wolf was back in his room, his fury dissipated, replaced by an icy demeanor.

"That kid actually uncovered the Drunken Immortal Spirit Flower's secret, but what's his origin? Hmph, no matter what, once the Elder Beiming awakens tonight, I must kill him. And as for Wang Yan, just wait; come morning, when everyone sees the Elder dead, they'll surely blame it on you."

Saying this, Lone Wolf lay on the bed, closing his eyes to rest.

In the dim night, with a bright moon hanging high above, Lone Wolf opened his eyes and sprung from bed.

Opening his door just a crack, he checked the surroundings to ensure no one was watching and then, like a specter, silently floated toward Elder Beiming's hospital room.

The entire security system of the Beiming home had been set up by Lone Wolf himself. Thus, not a single patrolling guard or even the infrared sensors noticed as he discreetly entered Elder Beiming's room.

The room was pitch black, and Lone Wolf dashed to the bed, raising the blanket, and pressed it hard against the person's mouth and nose lying on the bed.

Suddenly, the lights flashed on, and a voice coldly said from behind Lone Wolf, "Such a ruthless hand!"
