Lying heavily wounded on the ground, Josh felt someone sitting on his back. All he could hear were intense gunshots and curses before everything fell silent.
But the outcome was clear. His three teammates were completely wiped out, their fates unknown, and he had been stabbed viciously in the crotch, making him feel a fate worse than death.
At that moment, footsteps approached him. Even though he couldn't see, he felt someone squat in front of him, pressing a pistol against his head.
"You have thirty seconds. Answer whatever you're asked."
Lin Miao looked at the blood streaming from the man's lower body and the lime on his face. He felt a phantom pain himself; these players truly knew no decency.
The big guy saw that he wasn't speaking and, thinking he was pretending to be tough, kicked him again in the butt.
"Damn it, my boss told you to talk!"
"Waaa!!!"
The knife still hadn't been pulled out, and the excruciating pain in his lower body finally made Josh scream, tears flowing uncontrollably.
Brother Ni, using a gun to press against his head, chuckled and said, "Crying? Crying counts towards your time too."
"I'll talk! I'll talk! What the hell do you want me to say! Ask me, damn it! Ahhh~~~"
The captive's voice was filled with pain and grievance, truly making those who heard feel heartache and those who saw it weep.
Unfortunately, the players had no emotions. They looked towards Lin Miao because they couldn't even understand what this guy was saying; there was a language barrier.
Lin Miao asked, "I heard you Night Wanderers recently got your eyes on a batch of Chun Er. Spill everything you know, time, location, manpower."
"Ugh... Where the hell did you hear that from..." Josh panted heavily, then heard,
"Time's up, wrong answer. I'll ask someone else."
Lin Miao gave Brother Ni a look, and Brother Ni understood immediately, lifted his gun, and made a cocking motion. The sound of the metal slide made Josh's spine tingle. It was like death was knocking, and in the pitch-black before his eyes, he was even more terrified, not daring to play tough anymore.
"I'll talk, I'll talk. Recently, the boss did say something about stealing Chun Er. He said he hired an expert to punch holes in the pipeline, a single job could earn a lot of money."
"Location."
"I really don't know."
Lin Miao took Brother Ni's gun
Bang!
"Gonna talk?"
The bullet shot through Josh's ear onto the ground, and the loud noise and dirt shook his head until it buzzed. But then Josh suddenly remembered everything, like a flash before death, and after a scream, he started talking nonstop.
"Ah!!! At the Remote Ridge! I remember it's at the Remote Ridge! I heard the boss say while I was taking a piss one day that a brother found a Peizhuo Petrochemical pipeline in a cave at the Remote Ridge. It seems to start up once every Saturday, that's all I know, I really don't know anymore...."
Hmm... Lin Miao believed he really had said everything. Even if he was wrong, it didn't matter.
Bang!
Red and white matter splattered out along with bone fragments. Four players looked at Lin Miao in astonishment, thinking he was going to let the guy go.
Lin Miao blinked and said,
"I only said to make him spill the beans, never said anything about letting him go, so I wasn't lying."
The four suddenly realized and nodded, agreeing that Lin Miao did the right thing, and applauded.
He praised the players with colorful flattery, and the players returned the favor. It's called mutual benefit; everyone's happy.
As for a wild creature, who cared?
If Lin Miao hadn't spoken, really let him go, the four might have caught up with him to finish him off.
That's a living piece of equipment; you let him get away?
How dare you!
This operation proved very fruitful for Lin Miao, not only getting the clues but also seizing three guns and some ammunition. There seemed to be a modified car. Yesterday, he asked an old acquaintance, and was told gangs rarely spend money to put trackers on unimportant cars. The acquaintance also said that if he didn't want any trouble, just give him the car, though the price might be a bit low, a junk modified car for about a thousand bucks.
"Does anyone here know how to drive?"
"I can! I can!" The big guy eagerly raised his hand.
Seeing his enthusiasm, Potato said to Brother Ni, "Damn, this guy goes out every day with two sets of keys on his waist, one for the house and one for the car. 'Experienced driver,' my ass."
"What the hell! Who the hell has two sets of keys? Huang Potato, don't talk nonsense, I'm telling you."
The big guy gave Potato an angry look for spreading rumors, then happily ran over to the modified car, opened the door, and sat inside.
Looking at the familiar steering wheel, gear shift, and gas brake pedal, he muttered,
"This Horizon is a bit crappy. I've been driving automatics, where are the keys? Why are there so many buttons..."
After looking for the keyhole for a long time, he stretched his head out the car door and shouted to Lin Miao,
"This car doesn't even have a way to insert a key, how do you start it?"
Lin Miao, hearing the noise, pointed at Jensen lying in the garbage heap and said, "It should be on that guy, check him for any card-like things."
Potato pulled down Jensen's pants, shook them twice, and a white card fell out of his pocket, which he picked up and threw to the big guy.
"Try this."
The big guy looked at the card for a few seconds, then stuck it in what looked like a card slot, and the engine instantly roared to life, the car body giving off a faint rumbling sound.
"Damn, it's kind of advanced, doesn't even need a key."
Lin Miao glanced at the time. There were still fifty to sixty minutes left, and the twenty-kilometer journey should be enough.
