Chapter 3 - Chapter 3, Shooting Improvement, Positioning Attributes!

When it was 8:30, other players gradually arrived.

Although there was no formal training, there were quite a few who wanted to make an effort. Of course, some were just there to hang out with friends and pass the time.

Zeng Xingyang didn't chat with these people; he focused on his shooting practice.

At this moment, he no longer had that kind of envy for others as he did yesterday. He immersed himself in the training.

It wasn't until his stamina was completely drained once more that he sat down to rest.

Seeing that the experience points had increased again, although tired, he felt full of motivation.

After training, Zeng Xingyang had no appetite, but he still forced himself to the cafeteria to eat a lot of food to replenish his energy before heading back to his dorm to rest.

He slept until the afternoon. After waking up, feeling much more rejuvenated, he went back to training.

His whole body was sore, but he gritted his teeth and persisted.

He knew very well that this period was the hardest. Only by continually letting his body adapt to such training intensity could he truly transform.

The afternoon rhythm was similar to the morning. After dinner and a short rest, Zeng Xingyang went for the final night training.

From plenty of people training in the morning and afternoon to the place being as empty as it was in the early morning, come night.

Such hard work still paid off, by the end of the next morning.

"Ding! Shooting attribute upgraded to LV2, Positioning attribute activated."

With this system prompt, Zeng Xingyang felt a noticeable improvement in the stability of his shots, and he became more confident in his shooting.

The muscle memory for shooting was also imprinted on his body.

Continuing to check attributes.

[Shooting: LV2]

[Experience: 3/800]

[Note: Significantly higher tier than streetball players]

After this upgrade, it was also significantly harder to gain experience. Previously, one three-pointer gave him 1 point, now he needed to make three three-pointers for 2 points.

With 800 points needed to upgrade, he would need to make 1200 three-pointers.

Over these two days, he figured out his limits; he could make about three hundred three-pointers a day at most.

Mainly because his shooting accuracy was too low; he kept missing, which made returning the ball tiring.

And the team's shooting machine was not yet available for him to use, which limited his efficiency.

Calculated this way, it would take him at least four days to reach Level 3.

Four days to upgrade wasn't slow, but time was running short for him.

If he missed this school team selection, he might have a high chance of returning to China to play in the CBA if he wanted to continue playing professional basketball.

It would make entering the NBA more troublesome; avoiding this would be better.

Zeng Xingyang leaned back against the basketball stand with his waist, then grabbed a sports drink and drank in big gulps.

Getting results after intense effort brought a sense of achievement for reaching small goals.

Before upgrading, accumulating experience made him feel like he was making little progress, but after upgrading, he could sense obvious improvements. His high-efficiency shooting posture adjustment and shot strength control were more precise than before.

If he kept the rhythm, he should have a 40% to 50% chance of making open three-pointers in games.

The premise was that he had to be open, without much interference.

Of course, in basketball, getting wide open was difficult.

Especially in college basketball, defensive players closely shadow offensive players; their defensive effort is not much less than professional players.

"To truly have the ability to play in the NBA, I need to keep improving."

Although he knew there was still a distance to playing in the NBA, he was more motivated now and had a direction for his efforts.

After reviewing the shooting attribute, Zeng Xingyang swiftly shifted his attention to the new attribute.

[Positioning: LV1]

[Experience: 53/200]

[Note: Level 5 is the highest, references include Richard Hamilton, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, etc.]

Zeng Xingyang was naturally familiar with Hamilton, the masked man of the Pistons from back in the day, whom Kobe admitted he least wanted to defend, running Kobe to exhaustion...

Hamilton was an endurance monster. Once positioned in a set play, he kept running at high speed, never stopping until a teammate passed him the ball for a shot; otherwise, he could just keep running.

Klay Thompson was also a top-tier positioning master, differing from Hamilton as he thrived in the Warriors' tactical system.

Especially when Thompson played alongside two top scorers like Curry and Durant, his power became terrifying.

The cap for the positioning attribute was not as high as shooting, with Level 5 being the maximum.

This attribute clarified the direction for Zeng Xingyang's primary focus now.

With his already decent static talent, he was aiming for a 3D style of play!

Not spreading himself too thin, just focusing hard on these two attributes and leveling up quickly.

This was his way to stay with the Kentucky Wildcats; his best path now was to become a functional player rather than an on-ball core.

The Kentucky Wildcats had many future superstar players, and the coach would have these players handle the ball, not rely on him to play.

If they relied on him, the Kentucky Wildcats would be doomed.

For Zeng Xingyang to secure a position, he needed to show the team he could get open and make shots.

Positioning training was complex.

Coach's tactical designs, training for teamwork, simulated matches, specific scenario training for positioning, and even watching videos were part of it.

Zeng Xingyang didn't have access to all these training conditions yet; he could only do footwork training for off-ball positioning, such as ladder drills, cone drills, endurance bursts, and so forth.

Some training would require a dedicated design by the coaching team.

This increased his eagerness to join the Wildcats.

Zeng Xingyang wasn't worried about not having the chance to display his abilities once he improved through training.

The Kentucky Wildcats maintained their stature among NCAA teams, with selection and talent identification being very standardized and professionalized.

Most of the time, they are quite objective, with little likelihood of behind-the-scenes manipulation.

Cases like Heaven's Chosen Grandson's were rare; players' family backgrounds generally couldn't influence the coaching staff's decision-making.

This weekend, the coaching staff scheduled a shooting assessment, which was Zeng Xingyang's opportunity.

Continuing yesterday's rhythm by resting after lunch.

In the afternoon, more players came to the court for individual training.

This time, more players came, and they were quite famous.

Even many members of the coaching staff were present to observe their training.

Zeng Xingyang saw quite a few players who he could only see on screens back in his previous life.

Towns, in a carefree manner, chatted with Devin Booker. They were probably discussing some girl, occasionally covering their mouths and laughing.

Koulistan and Trey Lyles were engaged in one-on-one on one side, occasionally showcasing impressive footwork and technique, eliciting constant cheers from those present.

These players were already on NBA scouts' radar, heavily recruited by the University of Kentucky.

In comparison, Zeng Xingyang was like a little transparent presence.

No one was paying attention to Zeng Xingyang, and he happily focused on his shooting practice.

He was eager to improve now.
