So, one thing was clear to Kael: this young man in front of him was one of the strongest members in the lower realm of the organisation.
"Kael, Tell me something. Why were you not afraid? Why didn't you back down when you were surrounded by all those individuals?" Serak asked as he continued walking without looking back.
Kael, after hearing that question, thought back to what just happened and then the situation,
He questioned himself: why did he fight back? He could have just left. But he stayed and even fought back.
The reasonable outcome for him, someone who is weak, didn't have any memory and has no knowledge about anything in this world.
So, why?!
'Kael Ravvanon.' That was the answer he received from his inner self, his name. It was his name that didn't allow him to back away.
It was a subconscious decision that his mind, his inner self, made him do.
One may call it His pride, his ego – he didn't know. It's how things are and will be. If such a situation repeats. He knew he would take the same decision.
After coming to his conclusion, he looked towards Serak, who had already reached some distance away.
"Because I am Kael Ravvanon." He said, and Serak paused.
Serak slowly turned around and looked directly into Kael's eye. Kael also noticed the large grin plastered over Serak's face.
"Hahaha! Interesting, interesting, truly interesting. Kael oh Kael, Mark my words, you are going places.
And I will be waiting for you on the other side." And like that, Serak left.
Serak's words echoed inside Kael's mind for a long time. And when Serak was nowhere in sight, Kael decided to go to the library, a place he had planned to visit once before the training began.
Soon, he arrived at the library, or what they called a library. In reality, it was just a large hall lined with shelves filled with books, holding no more than 2000-3000 books. A little corner where tables were present. And at one corner of the library was a round table, where a single person was sitting.
Most probably the librarian.
As soon as Kael entered the library, the librarian noticed and looked towards him. The librarian looked for a full minute or two before going back to looking at the book he had in front of himself.
'I didn't even make any sound, yet he still noticed me.' Kael thought, as though the library had very few books, the space itself was very large. Like, the distance between Kael and the librarian must be at least 80-90m, and Kael was not even in the line of sight of the librarian, so for the librarian to notice Kael was very shocking for him.
But putting that thought to the back of his mind, Kael went to the librarian, who didn't give a jack shit about Kael after his initial interest.
Seeing the librarian upclose, He was an old man in his fifties, with aged robes and a high-collared coat, his long silver hair tied up in a ponytail, his face covered with wrinkles and scratches, and a full beard trimmed properly. He was like a warrior turned scholar.
But Kael realised what type of organisation he was in; the shock subsided, and since the librarian was not talking, Kael decided to talk first.
"Excuse me, I want to read some books related to history." Kael asked, as he had many questions, but he decided to learn about the world first, before anything else.
The librarian didn't even move his eyes from his book; he just said.
"No history book in this library, kid."
"So, can you tell me about the books present here, such that I can choose from them?" Though he was not able to focus on his initial plan, Kael didn't back down.
"Hah! An old man can't even read in peace." The librarian muttered to himself and looked towards Kael.
"There are six types of books/paper in the library: Applied Power and Survival Manual, Slayer Arts, philosophical works, Espionage-Manipulation and Psychological Warfare, experimental and field logs, and lastly, World Geography and Forbidden Zones."
Listening to this, Kael saw a hope of knowing about the world, only for the librarian to break that hope by saying.
"But books have a level restriction, ranging from Level 1 to Level 4. But for someone like you, who is a trainee grunt, you will not be able to read a single one of them."
Seeing the defeated look on Kael's face as soon as he finished speaking, the librarian spoke.
"If you really want to learn and get the knowledge, just focus on the afternoon classes of your training."
Though Kael didn't understand what the old librarian meant, as they were not briefed about their training schedule. But since the librarian was saying it, it must be important then.
"Thank you," said Kael as he left the library and decided to head to his room, the one assigned to him.
To reach His room, he must first go through Pit; as soon as he reached it, he saw something.
*thud*
*Dham*
"You fucking insects, how dare you talk back to me? Do-do you think I am some kind of pushover? Do you think you can trample over me? huh?" Nist was beating one of the new juniors while his friends or underlings were just standing there as he was venting his anger.
"Nist." One of his underlings called out to Nist as soon as he noticed Kael entering the pit.
"WHAT?" Nist screamed in anger, to which the underling pointed towards Kael.
*thuh!*
Nist spat in anger, but he didn't even try to touch Kael, as he still remembered what happened a while ago.
"Let's go." Then Nist and his gang left.
Kael, looking at all this, didn't react much and just left the pit and finally reached his place.
He removed his badge as soon as he reached the door, as he remembered what the senior who gave the tour said: that only his badge or someone ranked higher than him could open his room.
And as soon as he touched the badge on the lock, it clicked and opened.
And Kael entered his room.
