Chapter 43 - A Business

A month later, Texas, Medford.

Neutron Technologies Private Facilities.

Starting a business isn't easy, even if you have money.

Jimmy spent an entire month talking with investors who wanted to invest in his most ambitious project, the network. To do this, he would have to give them a demonstration, just as he had done with Whitaker, but he wasn't desperate now that he had the millions from his sole investor.

In addition to this, Jimmy spent his time creating robots that would help him do whatever he wanted without the need to hire workers.

Yes, Jimmy was aware of his enemies. These were necessary conditions because, otherwise, by hiring people, others would discover the numerous inventions he had been working on, and leaks could cause him trouble.

That's why his company would be one where the researchers would be just him, and no one else. This was safer and allowed Jimmy to feel much more at ease.

Of course, he needed people in other departments, and Whitaker was handling that. By recruiting young minds with the necessary skills, Jimmy only needed to nurture their learning in artificial intelligence a little.

"If the country wants a more restricted version of my software, then they'll have to pay much more," Jimmy said, discussing the sale of his security systems.

Obviously, he would sell his country a more updated version of the software, but they would have to pay a good sum.

His grandfather would be proud of him if he knew that his patriotic spirit was in his blood, though Jimmy didn't think of it that way.

"My private company will launch the world's most modern gaming console. I'm just looking for good distribution, and you'll earn profits for each console sold."

After having this conversation with Whitaker, Jimmy got into a vehicle driven by artificial intelligence and headed home.

This was a 1964-1966 Ford Thunderbird, modified with cutting-edge technology to keep Jimmy's security well protected.

Moreover, now that his face would be public, he seriously considered the safety of his family and loved ones. That's why they installed several defense systems to keep them safe from anyone who would want to harm them.

His family didn't ask any questions, in fact, no one did.

The incredible things surrounding Jimmy became normal for the people around him. Of course, Jimmy remained mostly hidden most of the time.

"I'm home." Jimmy shouted as he entered the living room only to see his parents watching a movie.

"This flat-screen TV is amazing, son. We're the envy of the whole neighborhood." Hugh was excited that his son's inventions were no longer causing disruptions.

Jimmy looked at the TV that hadn't even been released to the market yet and said, "You should stop bragging about it. It'll get us into more trouble."

"It's not a problem to be proud of everything you've done, son." Judy smiled as she noticed Jimmy's demeanor was much calmer now.

Now, her son's personality was more serene. He thought things through much more carefully before doing them, and obviously, he was maturing at an alarming rate.

"I'll request to graduate this year. I want to finish college as soon as possible and focus only on my company." Jimmy said as he walked toward the kitchen to make himself a meal.

"Do you remember the vacation trip?"

"I don't want to go..." Jimmy obviously didn't want to distance himself any further from society.

"It'll be good for you. Besides, I heard it's a perfect place to explore. There's even a river nearby. It'll be great."

Jimmy didn't argue with his mom, but he definitely didn't want to go on that family trip when the holidays came.
