"Okay, it says here that first you must put your index and ring fingers close together," Micah read from the book we borrowed from RJ. It's not very thick, but it looks old. I'd say this book is definitely old—its contents are handwritten.
"Like this—? Oh—"We all jumped when I brought my index and ring fingers close together, just like the book said. Suddenly, they lit up with a bluish light—just like what we saw in the night show.
"Now what's next?" I asked, since my fingers were still glowing.
"Well, it says here you just have to swing your hand to move whatever you want. Try it, Mary! Try!" they urged me.
I looked around for something I could try to move. My eyes landed on a towel on the ground. I focused my eyes and fingers on it. The light struck the towel, I moved my hand—and it did. The towel floated in the air.
I smiled, and they saw it too. I saw the surprise in their faces when it actually worked.
"Oh my gosh! It did! It really floated—" I said nervously but with excitement bubbling inside me. I'd never felt this way before. This was the first time I managed to use magior, and I didn't do it in a typical way—it felt so special.
"You really did it, cousin," Jad said. I looked at him—he looked proud. Everyone did.
"Read the text under it," someone suddenly said. We all turned. It was RJ. Micah looked at the book and read the next part.
"What? What does it say, Mic?" I asked.
"There are two things written here. First, make an enchantment that rhymes to make the magior powerful instantly. And second, have control of the core so you can do it without enchantments," she read.
"The last one doesn't sound like it rhymes," Harmony joked.
"What does that mean? I could make up some words like a spell?"
"Yeah, technically yes. Besides, it'd be way cooler if it's your own enchantment," Micah said, flipping more pages.
"Are these…?" She turned to RJ, which made us all look at him. RJ just nodded.
I walked closer to Micah to see what she was talking about. I looked at the page. I saw some strange, handwritten words—different kinds of spells. These must have been enchantments made by different people who once held a Core magior.
"These are enchantments, right?" I asked, just to be sure. RJ nodded again, like he had with Micah.
"You can use them," he said simply. I looked at the page filled with different enchantments. It even said how each one worked.
"Ezexsma Harabya," I said, pointing my fingers at the grass. The dead leaves suddenly became lively, and a few even bloomed with flowers.
"Wow! We were taught how to revive dead plants, but not like this," Harmony said in shock.
"Mary! You can totally relate to us now! You managed to use magior—and even better, because you don't need a ring. Your power could be three times stronger than normal magior," Reina said as she walked toward me and hugged me proudly.
"Congratulations! You did it. But the mystery of how you got it—tsk tsk," RJ suddenly said. He was right. My uncle or the higher-ups might ask about this soon.
"Are you sure you never had any interaction with the Core? Or anything that might have activated the same energy as the Core?"
"I—I'm not really sure... I don't even know what kind of energy could activate the Core."
"The top three things needed are: saliva already mixed with the magior from a ring, green parafeli, and an enchantment to activate it," Micah explained.
"I never used an enchantment until now... and what's green parafeli?"
"It's a plant—a rare one. It's still unknown when or how it blooms. The last time it was seen was in the schoolyard. That was the first and last," Micah said.
"Guys, I don't want to ruin the moment, but we only have five minutes left—our next class is about to start," Harmony reminded us.
"Let's do this again after class," I said. We gathered our things, knowing we were definitely running late—but still caught up in the moment.
RJ, on the other hand, ran like a flash right in front of our eyes.
