Chapter 8 - A warm home

The sun was starting to set as Elien opened the door to her home, "Come on in." Elien said as she stepped inside, turning around and smiling, the blush on her cheeks still present. Varan stepped inside the home and felt the warmth of the fire surround him, "Nice, isn't it?" Elien asked, she was now sitting done on a chair closer to the fire.

"Yes, it is." Varan said, almost in a whisper as he looked around the house, "Come and sit, you must be tired." Elien insisted as she motioned to the chair next to her. Varan nodded his head as he set down his sheathed greatsword, leaning it against the wall.

After sitting down, he removed his helmet and set it down on the floor next to him. "Has anyone ever told you that your eyes are beautiful?" Elien asked as she stared into his deep blue eyes, Varan mirrored the action as he stared into her own emerald eyes, "No, not many people even know what I look like." Varan said as he removed his gaze.

Elien blushed at this, because in her mind this meant that she was special enough for him to remove her helmet, "I wonder why Mother Kyne called you my future lover." Elien said absentmindedly as she admired Varan's face. "I don't know, but I do know that she is never wrong." Varan said as his cheeks flushed a little.

Elien's eyes widened as she blushed, "Is that so?" Elien's voice was soft, barely above a whisper, but Varan still heard and nodded his head. "Then do you think we are meant to be lovers?" Elien asked again, looking into Varan's eyes and then scanning his face.

Varan nodded his head, "When or how I don't know, but if what I'm feeling is true, I think we will end up as lovers." Hearing Varan's words Elien buried her face into the palms of her hands, trying to hide the growing redness of her face. "What you are feeling?" Elien asked, her face still hidden.

Varan nodded his head, although Elien couldn't see it, so he spoke, "My chest feels warm, I don't know if it's because you're beautiful or because of what Mother Kyne said." Elien had since lifted her head from her hands, "You think I am beautiful?" Elien asked as stood up from her seat and walked till she was in front of Varan.

Varan nodded his head, "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever layed my eyes on." Varan said has his gaze lingered on her features, "Are you saying because of what Mother Kyne said?" Elien asked softly as she too gazed at his features.

Varan shook his head, Elien just placed her hand on his cheek as she leaned down and connected her lips his.

Elien woke up to the morning sun touching her skin, as she sat up the blanket slid off, revealing her naked figure. She turned and saw Varan lying next to her, his bare chest rising and falling rhythmically with each breath he took.

She gazed upon his figure, tracing the various scars that littered his chest and abdomen, as she did so she remembered the night before, remembering the passion and love she felt as they made love, doing so brought a smile to her lips and a blush to her cheeks.

She moved her gaze to Varan's face, his sharp jawline that was covered in 'bruises' that went down his neck and collarbone, her eyes shifted to the three scars that went from his nose, past his lips and ended at his lower jaw, she traced these scars with a woeful look in her eyes.

Varan lazily opened his eyes, feeling Elien's fingers softly caressing his jaw, "Good morning." His voice was deep and hoarse, signs that he had indeed just woken up. Varan sat up and his eyes drifted towards Elien's bare chest before fixating on her beautiful emerald eyes, "Did you sleep well?" He asked as he placed his arm around her shoulders and pulled her body into his.

Feeling his warmth Elien smiled, "Wonderfully." She said as she rested her head on his chest, her previous smile widening while her blushed deepened, "That's good." Varan said as he leaned his head against the wall behind them. Varan closed his eyes, and he let out deep breath from his nose.

"What's wrong?" Elien asked, her head not moving from his chest, "Nothing Elien, nothing at all." Varan reassured Elien, placing a soft kiss on the top of her head before resting his own back on the wall behind them. Elien smiled at the gesture of love, hoping that it was a sign that he truly did love her, as she did him.

She knew that this love was sudden and 'unfounded', but she hoped that it wouldn't be for long, and that soon it could be considered real love.
