Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Kakashi Being Targeted

The Uchiha clan had become a fortress under Andrew's leadership, so tight that even Danzo couldn't find an opening. Every attempt to interfere was blocked. Yet ironically, his frustration became Andrew's gain—Danzo's negativity fed Andrew's system, adding to the daily stream of feedback points from the clan's growing influence.

With Konoha spiraling in decay and bureaucracy, Andrew's personal treasury of feedback points steadily climbed.

Of course, some lofty rewards like the Rinnegan or the Sage Body were still out of reach—but that wasn't what Andrew was after just yet. What caught his attention recently was something practical, something useful.

When the Flying Thunder God Technique appeared in the system's store, Andrew didn't hesitate—he dropped one million feedback points to claim it.

Why was he so fixated on this jutsu?

"Convenience," he muttered aloud. That was the true reason.

In terms of sheer combat enhancement, Flying Thunder God didn't offer him much. With the Mangekyō Sharingan, Andrew was already a walking disaster. He didn't need fancy teleportation gimmicks to win a battle. His strength allowed him to bulldoze through most opponents.

But convenience? Mobility?

That's where the technique truly shined.

He didn't have the combat instinct or battlefield finesse of Senju Tobirama or Namikaze Minato—he wouldn't be pulling off last-second knife throws or perfect backdoor kills. But for traveling across the elemental nations in a flash, Flying Thunder God was priceless.

He remembered a moment from the original story: Terumi Mei arrived at the battlefield almost instantly with the aid of three shinobi, including Shiranui Genma. It had been stated plainly that the only reason they needed three was because they were weak. In other words, a stronger shinobi could do the same thing solo.

Now, with Flying Thunder God, Andrew could leave Konoha at sunset and be in Kirigakure by nightfall. After spending time with Terumi Mei, he could still be home for a hot bath by morning.

"Tch… one million points gone just like that."

Andrew sighed as he walked toward the Ninja Academy. "These feedback points are so hard to save, and I blew it in one go."

Still, it was worth it. The version of Flying Thunder God the system provided was complete and flawless, unlike what the Second Hokage had developed in the past. If Tobirama had perfected it, he wouldn't have needed to die buying time for the Third Hokage's escape.

Watching his balance drop from seven digits to four made Andrew wince, but he still rolled the daily random item.

[Ding! Congratulations to Host for obtaining a pair of Byakugan!]

[System has detected Mangekyō Sharingan. Merging visual prowess… please wait.]

"Wait—what? The Byakugan?"

That was no small thing. Random rewards usually offered small chakra or stat boosts. A dojutsu? That was a jackpot.

As warmth surged through his eyes, Andrew realized the random draw was truly a blind box with hidden treasures.

The changes were immediate.

His range of perception expanded, wrapping around him completely—he could now see behind his own head. The entire chakra flow around him became crystal clear.

"Byakugan... active."

Unlike members of the Hyūga clan, Andrew didn't have bulging veins around his temples, nor did his eyes change externally. They still looked like Sharingan, but now his vision told a different story.

He could still use Sharingan techniques while maintaining Byakugan's perception range.

He drew in a sharp breath.

"This... this is incredible."

Sharingan lacked x-ray vision. It couldn't see chakra networks or organs the way Byakugan could. Now, Andrew had the best of both worlds.

"Not like I'd use it for perverted purposes... though technically, no one could accuse me with these eyes."

He shook his head quickly.

"Stop it. This isn't for spying on bathhouses. Stay focused."

Gentle Fist was out of the question—he didn't have the Hyūga clan's training, nor did he need it. But for surveillance, perception, and battlefield awareness?

This was gold.

Then, something caught his attention. As he neared the Ninja Academy gates, Andrew picked up a faint but familiar chakra signal.

"Kakashi?"

An Anbu operative stood nearby. The chakra in his left eye radiated a power Andrew recognized instantly—it was the Sharingan that once belonged to Obito.

Kakashi being here wasn't strange—Naruto was a Jinchūriki, and it made sense to assign elite guards to the Academy. What concerned Andrew was that Kakashi was being watched.

"Wait... there's a surveillance team nearby. A full three-man unit."

Andrew immediately activated Byakugan, narrowing his vision to the nearby woods.

His heart sank as he saw it.

The watchers had chakra suppression seals etched onto their tongues—ROOT operatives.

"So... Danzo's mutts are tracking Kakashi now?" Andrew mused. "Can't strike at the Uchiha, so he turns to the next best thing."

Kakashi's Sharingan, the legacy of Obito Uchiha, had always been a tempting target. Years ago, Danzo had even sent Yamato (then known as A) to assassinate Kakashi. That plan failed when Yamato defected and joined Anbu, adopting the codename Tenzo.

At the time, Danzo had plenty of Sharingan options and no need to act rashly.

But now?

Now, Andrew and Shisui had locked down the Uchiha clan tighter than ever. Danzo couldn't make a move without backlash, so he went for Kakashi's eye instead.

"Heh, for once, Danzo's ambitions might help me."

Andrew grinned. He'd once thought about retrieving Obito's eye himself, but decided against provoking the Hokage's circle too early.

But if Danzo made the first move—

"Then I can step in under the banner of protecting Kakashi and preserving Uchiha blood."

He didn't interfere yet. Instead, he turned his gaze to the school window where Sasuke and Naruto sat in class.

He'd promised Itachi he'd look after Sasuke. Before, he left it to Fugaku, but now that Sasuke was outside the clan compound, Andrew had to stay involved.

Letting Sasuke attend school was a political gesture, a way of saying, "We trust the system." But if anything happened to him…

"Konoha better be ready to deal with the consequences."

The Academy, in truth, was more about Konoha's civilian ninja welfare system. True shinobi clans didn't need schools—they had their own training methods, jutsu libraries, and traditions.

The purpose of the Academy was twofold:

Foster bonds between children of different clans and backgrounds.

Support civilian-born ninjas through structured education.

This policy had been born during Senju Tobirama's reign. He even had the Senju clan integrate with civilians to lead by example.

But then came Hiruzen Sarutobi, and with him, Danzo and the Root doctrine.

Under their rule, civilian support became a farce. Entire clans disappeared, while a few smaller ones—conveniently loyal to Danzo—rose in influence.

Andrew knew this game all too well. The Academy was a battlefield dressed as a classroom.

"If they try anything with Sasuke… they won't live to regret it."
