Chapter 20 - Ruthless Judgement

Rin was looking through a glass wall, overlooking a mountainscape. The mountains of Rieamaius has often been noted to be one of the most visually stunning, aside from the Huangfu stone palaces—which isn't even a palace, just a range of mountains that pierce through the skyline. Rin's wrapped spear was beside him, leaning against a desk. Rin through his heterochromatic eyes gazed at the vast blue skies, the time was 12:36, an oddly specific time that Rin seemingly guessed out of luck.

He sensed the presence of someone else behind him, his hand placed on the hilt of his sword, stern yet calm. He took the assumption that it was Ludwig Azure, and as if he had eyes at the back of his head, he then looked back.

Rin smiled, even though there was this uneasy tension, Rin still smiled, knowing that Ludwig himself meant no harm, no matter how intimidating he appeared. His calm voice pointed out, "Ludwig, you seem like you have something you'd like to ask."

Ludwig clenched his hand, was it out of anger? Not quite, Rin knew it, perhaps knowing the emotions of others was simply a trait elite ranks of the Regulators Committee possess, or is simply something he is naturally talented at.

"What did you do to them?" Ludwig demanded, his cold gaze didn't force Rin to falter.

Rin looked down, glancing at the dark blue carpet, he proceeded to look back up, "nothing much.. Enhanced their combat experience by 4 months, if that's what you were asking."

"Why?"

"Simply put, if I let them continue this "journey" so to speak, they'll die." Rin reasoned, his smile was serene, an opposite of Ludwig's frightening presence. Rin's capabilities as an elite rank, or specifically Elite rank 16, meant he has the freedom to do anything, adding with the major fact that Rin himself is a 'Truth Seeker' with a verity. Veritys Aren't limited to anything, and like he mentioned a while back, Veritys are mere representations of one's Elusive Solace that usually gives power as a byproduct, and in any scenario, truth seekers are highly regarded, as majority of the Elite ranks are Truth Seekers who happened to be treated like demigods.

"You are giving inexperienced idiots the combat experience of a basic Regulator.." Ludwig argued, his arms crossed. Rin saw the influx around Ludwig, a familiar sight.

"Yes, I am well aware, but I believe giving them a gentle nudge forward would result in a better outcome."

Ludwig sighed in dismissal, leaving Rin alone for the time being, needing to collect his insight. This proved to Ludwig that Rin's Verity revolves around enhancing someone permanently, or rejuvenating everything in his surroundings through his spear, that has the possibility of being the direct manifestation of his Verity. Some Veritys appear as a physical form, for example, one's Verity might grant the truth seeker a rifle that is impossible to miss, using the truth Seeker's influx as ammunition.

Meanwhile, in a secluded block of a port city in Republic of Deusagia, a country in the 2nd Capital. Zykar was seen pathetically limping through a dark alleyway inside a commercial block, neon signs gleaming everywhere. His now missing arms were bandaged leaving him useless from the waist up, his only use was simply giving orders and walking around with supplies.

However Zykar had a distraught face, his eyes in absolute fear, his heartbeat beating at an abnormal rate, his head covered in sweat, and hyperventilating. He constantly looked back behind him, then turned to try sprinting further, but his legs were too weak, one of his ankles were bent in unnatural ways, and a visible bone protruding out on the same leg, his one available leg was failing him, becoming weaker with each step, at this point he wasnt walking, he was dragging his leg for survival.

This fucker swatted Lauris like a fly! Where's my squad? They should've come over to support me! Their lieutenant! Why is an Executioner of the Jurisdiction Court even here? Of all places!

Flashes of the one sided massacre enveloped his mind. He remembered Lauris blocking a singular blow of the shadowy figure, but the cost was too tremendous, the sheer strength of the punch bent his spear, rendering his Merit Revelators useless to conjure his merit. Lauris attempted to fight back, grabbing the top edge of his spear and stabbing the figure. The figure didn't budge and simply held him by the face and smashed his head into a wall, splattering his head along with chunks of what seemed to be his brain everywhere.

Zykar collapsed, he left a trail of blood, blood from the bone that is sticking out of his leg. The shadowy figure loomed over him, angrily speaking:

"You dared to break a deal you made with The Gavel?"

His voice was deep, too intimidating to belong to a normal person, in fact he wasn't even a normal human. But when Zykar tried to threaten him, his throat was ripped off, following up with his head being torn off by a kick. Blood stained the alleyway, some getting over neon signs.
