I stared at Maria thinking of what I would say or explain to her what I was actually doing here. The right question was why was she even here? I looked at Vance and saw the uneasiness in his behavior. I immediately knew he did something stupid without my knowledge.
How I wished I could strangle him right there. But I had to solve Maria's issues first before I finally took his life. "I'm… I am. I work here." I lied.
" You work here? Since when?" Maria queried, not buying a single word that I said.

I stepped on Vance's legs hard under the table so he would support me.
