William was slowly making his way back to Earth while taking in his surroundings. "Truly, there are no works of man that could ever compare to the sheer beauty and horror of space!" He thought as he steadily approached the beautiful blue planet.
As he flew, however, he took notice of a group of rocks floating in the void, pieces sheared off from the surface of the moon. "Well, it's something to do that will pass the time!" He said to himself, before, with a great deal of focus, he forced himself to move faster.
Although the void of space does not allow for the generation of sound, the suit still formed a facsimile of it through a combination of vibrational feedback, helmet ambient simulation system, or H.A.S.S. for short, and electroacoustic sensors, which worked in tandem to give him access to the full range of his senses.
BOOOM
William's fist collides with a meteor the size of a tank, and the large floating rock shatters into a million smaller pieces.
He then dashed to another set of rocks and began punching.
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
After destroying three similarly sized meteors, William had a wicked smile on his face as he dove headfirst into another much larger meteor.
The instant his crazed face neared the rock's surface, he tensed his body completely and tore clean through to the other side.
A human-sized hole in the meteor was all that was left to mark his passing, but soon from within the hole cracks began to spread, and within mere moments after passing, the meteor crumbled into much smaller pieces that were no bigger than a Kia car.
Nodding to himself as he floated within the void of space, he suddenly shot towards Earth once again.
Unbeknownst to William, as he was on approach to Earth, alarms were going off at the GDA as another set of portals had been ripped open throughout Chicago, and Cecil had already given orders to the Guardians and Teen Team.
He would have the Guardians take point while Teen Team would handle rescue and interference, and hopefully, they could minimize casualties.
In the center of the city of Chicago, neat rows of Flaxan soldiers filed out en masse and began firing upon civilians at first sight.
PEW
A red beam tore through the midsection of a man crossing the street, and the people on either side of the street watched in horror as his organs that weren't disintegrated began falling out, and they got to watch as his heart stopped beating.
One of the people nearby finally overcame their shock and began screaming, and almost as if they had waited for the screams, the rest of the flaxans opened fire into the crowd, mowing them down in a shower of red.
This was happening at key points throughout the city, and fires had begun forming a thick and dark cloud over the city.
After the first few rows of aliens stepped through the portal, they then proceeded to bring in heavy tank-like vehicles, which bore a hole straight through a building many blocks away before crashing straight into a mall on the other side.
BOOOOM
An enormous eruption of flames and force swept out from the center of impact, and the mall was now reduced to a flaming pit.
The only people who survived were in the car lot, and even then, only half of them were left after the wave of force turned the vehicles into a bloody soup can.
Riding one of the tanks was a commanding flaxan who came equipped with power armor that made him look like a cheap knockoff of Warhammer 40k.
The flaxan commander held a massive great sword in his hands, with a blade as thick as an average human arm that was somehow razor sharp, the edge of the blade tapered off into a fan shape, forgoing thrust damage for extra slashing potential.
A woman clutching her child protectively was attempting to hide from the ongoing slaughter when she accidentally caught the commander's eye and cowered once more, holding her mouth as if she thought they could hear her breathing.
Suddenly, a flaxan under the direct orders of the commander rushed over and grabbed the woman by her hair and dragged her from her hiding place with ruthless force, even as the child cowered and cried in the woman's arm, the alien did not relent and brought the two in front of the commander, who loomed over them like some kind of medieval lord about to reenact prima nocta.
SHING
The fan-shaped tip of the sword seemed to carve a trench out of the tank it was resting on, and in a sight that caused the woman's trembling figure to shake even more aggressively, the flaxan commander lifted the massive sword over his head and cast a deep shadow over the two.
"Gahahahahaha die human filth!" He said with a voice synthesized by his suit that worked in tandem with his real voice, suddenly he swung the looming sword, looking to bisect both her and her child with a sadistic smile on his face.
WHOOSH... the sound of the blade cutting through air swept past her ears, and she closed her eyes while waiting for the inevitable
Just before the blade fell onto the woman's neck and severed her soul from her body, a figure moving in a blur of blue, white, and yellow suddenly appeared in front of the two and clapped his hands on either side of the massive blade.
WHOOM...
The force still caused air to displace; however, the woman and her child were left unharmed, and with reluctance and caution, she looked up.
"Immortal!"
Her eyes sparkled as she realized who had appeared to save her, and she looked back to see the flaxan who had drug her here missing his upper body, with his legs still standing upright as if his body had yet to register his death just yet.
Immortal and the Flaxan Commander were in a deadlock, but he did not fight battles for millennia only to not learn how to handle himself in a fight.
"HAAAA!"
Immortal let out a valiant roar and thrust the heel of his foot into the Commander's abdomen and freeing the two from the deadlock.
The two slide backwards, and Immortal, rather than fight against the commander, decided to take the mother and child and get them to safety.
POW
Immortal's feet leave deep dents in the metal surface of the tank, and as he flew, he grabbed onto the woman and her child and nestled them safely in his arms before flying off into the distance, leaving the commander feeling infuriated as he attempted to swipe his sword at Immortal only to catch the heel of his boot and thankfully due to the lack of a sharp point managed to miss taking the whole foot.
Flying the woman and her child to the safe zone, the woman struggled to stand as the shock of it all was finally setting in, and a panicked look appeared on her face as she checked on the baby swaddled in her arms, only to sigh in relief when she found the baby smiling.
Seeing that the two were fine, Immortal flew upward, clearing the height of any surrounding buildings, and with a boom of air being blasted, he disappeared into the fray.
SHING
The Commander's blade cleaved a policeman in two down the middle before he thrust the fan-shaped end of the blade into the officer's car and impaled the criminals in the back seat on the blade.
SHHNNKK
With the sound of tearing metal and flesh, he pulls the blade upward and forces the blade to pass through the roof of the police car.
The massive blade, now slicked with the lifeblood of humans, turned his attention to the sky, where he could see Immortal approaching with fury in his eyes, and a smirk appeared on the commander's face.
Immortal shot downward and flew along the ground with his fist raised and ready to unleash an attack that could end it once and for all, but a sudden cold feeling sent shivers down his spine, and he instinctively backed off.
SHINNG
The blade swung upward all of a sudden and managed to slice Immortal's arm off at the elbow, causing him to grit his teeth in pain as he continued to fall back.
As this fight was going on in another part of the battlefield that used to be Chicago, War Woman was swinging her mace with skill into the bodies of every Flaxan that was unlucky enough to get in her way.
The Flaxans initially all opened fire at once, but War Woman managed to spin the mace in front of her, somehow catching the beams before they could land.
Now they were running for their lives and attempting to regroup with other soldiers, but they kept being cut off by the woman's superior speed, only for them to suddenly turn to purple mist when the mace smashed into them.
CLANG
An alien head was sent flying before one of the other flaxans caught it, terror filled its mind before its vision went dark.
War Woman was the most useful on a battlefield, as an experienced and ferocious warrior queen from another age, and she proved the depth of her combat knowledge by turning entire squads of alien invaders into half-destroyed corpses for those who weren't lucky and others into purple mist if they were lucky.
However, the enemy kept coming, both War Woman and Immortal were valiant front-line combatants, but even they had limits on how many they could take on at any given moment.
WHOOSH
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
A dark and stealthy jet piloted by Darkwing and his protégé roared above the battlefield before its hatch opened, and dozens of small dots fell onto the battlefield in the midst of the Flaxans and a series of small explosives erupted throughout the crowd of encroaching aliens, scattering those on the edge and killing those caught directly in the blast.
Seeing all this, the commander spoke into the communication system built into his suit, and immediately afterward, the tanks within the formation began to take aim towards the two on the frontline.
BWOOOOOOM
The air rippled around the large barrels of the tanks as they generated devastating levels of energy within their depths and fired upon Immortal and War Woman.
However, before the beams could land, thick pink barriers appeared in front of them in the shape of a wedge, which, due to its shape, was able to withstand the beams, only bearing small amounts of damage that began to heal shortly after.
"Thanks, Eve!" War Woman shouted and waved at the pink flying female superhero while thinking, "She has grown as a hero, if only her asshole parents were able to see it as such!"
Robot had brought two dozen of his drones to help with the numbers, but they were slowly and steadily being destroyed by the constant influx of Flaxan troops.
Kate was still in the Vertibird and continuously formed clones of herself before sending them down, however, the pain from every dead clone was visible on her face.
"GAHHH!" She cried as one of her clones had her head stomped on by a Flaxan, and she felt like her head was breaking.
Cold sweat formed a sheen over her skin; another of her clones was just incinerated by concentrated laser fire.
"I hope this ends quickly, I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up!" She thought as she swallowed a pain pill and looked up towards the near-complete cloud cover.
Up above the cloud cover and beyond Earth's atmosphere, William is floating just outside the gravitational pull of the planet, giving the beauty of space a final fleeting look before he suddenly closes his eyes and, opening them again, his gaze becomes stern.
"Aura, I've never been this high up before. Could you guide me back to Chicago?" He asked his suit's AI, and in mere moments, on the screen of his heads-up display, a shimmering trail appeared which cascaded downward towards Earth and ultimately led to the sky just above Chicago.
"Request has been completed! Master, please let me know if you require any further assistance!"
William allowed gravity to claim him and performed the true highest base jump in history, and a corona of fire engulfed him in blue and orange flames.
WHOOSH
He spun his body a few times before he suddenly flashed towards his destination, causing a few large clouds to separate at his passing as if the air was exploding around him.
