I raised my hand up and a translucent barrier appeared a distance above me, right on the trajectory of the boulder.
Crash!
The giant rock clashed with the barrier and fragmented into pieces.
The debris rained down like a meteor shower on the monsters all over the forest.
I examined where the boulder was launched from and found myself looking back toward the fourth hill.

The ogres had managed to cross over and were now treading slowly toward us through the muddy landscape.
Since their movements had slowed down, the ogres began to reach for the fallen trees, boulders, logs, anything they could find and threw them at us.

I intercepted the huge trees and boulders that I knew my shield could not repel.
Kekeke!
Meanwhile, more goblins and other monsters were approaching us from the front.

Jonah and Shanny raised their weapons to welcome the enemy reinforcements on the other side.
I started to cast my fire spell to intercept the new wave.
"Hold on! Let me extend the path firs-"

Before I could finish my sentence, a number of goblins were emerging from the deep mud behind us.
Meanwhile, another set of boulders and tree logs were falling down from the sky, courtesy of the ogres.

Boom!
I caused the mud pool to erupt using my spell, repelling the goblins away. While I casted a basic fire spell to intercept the large projectiles.
Unfortunately, the pursuing enemies from our rear and the assaulting ogres distracted me from forging a fire trail forward.
The moment I tried to turn back to quickly cast my spell, another oversized boulder was fast approaching.
"Argh!"
Shanny's grunt suddenly reached me.
['Shanny (★)' has been inflicted with bleeding. Her stamina will be reduced for a period of time.]
I turned my gaze and found a slicing wound on the side of her stomach. A goblin managed to land a hit.
Thankfully Shanny's leather armor prevented it from being a worse injury.
"Don't mind me! Just focus on not getting us crushed by those rocks and trees!"
Shanny shouted while decapitating the goblin that injured her.
"We'll open up the path! You just keep guarding our rear, Serafina!"
Jonah added while impaling two wolves at once.
With the confident reply of my comrades, I could not help but to refocus my attention to our back.
Not that I could do otherwise.
As more enemies arrived from all parts of the forest, some began to encircle our position and approached us from our rear.
Added with the fallen debris, I was plenty occupied with keeping us alive from this side.

Another reinforcement arrived for the enemies.
They all quickly piled on to where Jonah and Shanny were at.
Had I got the time to cast my magic, I could blast them off with my fire.
However…
Crash!
Falling down almost as rapid as the raging rain itself were the huge debris the ogres threw at us. As well as the ambushing enemies that kept on coming like ocean waves.

Forming a shield, sweeping down enemies with telekinesis, shooting down debris, repelling charging monsters.
Dozens of projectiles and enemies to intercept.
I had to cast multiple spells at once, all while suffering the pain from the mana overflow symptom.

Meanwhile, Jonah and Shanny were still fighting hard against the monsters at the forefront.
They were fearless and fierce in the face of their foes.
But the enemy number was overwhelming.
No matter how many they cut down, double the force would replace them.
We could barely gain grounds toward the fifth hill.
There were simply too many enemies to just avoid through.
On the other hand…

The ogres were approaching us slow and steady.
If we left things as they were, the horde would soon reach us.

A wolf managed to bite Jonah's thigh as he was battling a whole pack.
Pierce!
He quickly thrusted his spear to the canine's head and snatched its jaw free.
Shanny was separated a few distance from him. She was also battling more than a dozen of goblins and multiple harpies at once.
I noticed more wounds had been inflicted on her as well.
The situation was looking direr on their side.
The two were starting to get overwhelmed.
Something needed to be done to break us out from this crisis.

More enemies were approaching from the front.
This time I was certain Jonah and Shanny could not handle them.
I needed to step in.
"Grahhh!"
Before I could even turn my body to run to them, Shanny cried out a fierce grunt.
She started to charge ahead and cutting down enemies left and right, all without a care of the wounds they inflicted back on her.
"I spent years serving those dirty nobles! Slaving myself for their comfort!"
She shouted as she ran her sword through the monsters' flesh.
"All those suffering I endured! All so that I could save up and finally live for myself in the end!"
Countless monsters threw themselves at her.
But Shanny welcomed their charge and served them a fierce onslaught, all while taking in many wounds herself.

"I had survived this long…Surviving countless pain…"
While standing on a mountain of monster corpses, Shanny who was now drenched in dark blood, raised her sword facing the tsunami of foes beyond her.
"So let me tell you this now…"

She clenched her sword tightly and screamed on the top of her lungs for the whole world to hear.
"There's no way I'm going to die because of you, filthy bastards!"
