"What did he say? Did he agree to bail me out?" Selina asked, her head pressed against the cell bars, curiosity gleaming in her eyes.
Annabelle leaned in closer, tightening her grip around the bars as she carefully scanned the officers before whispering,
"He didn't say anything to me, and he didn't seem frightened by your threat. He was staring at me intensely like he wanted to burn me down, which is why I had to leave quickly instead of asking him for a response."
Selina let out a soft sigh. Her second option had failed; what else could she do?
But she can't be stuck here forever.
She slumped her shoulders and instinctively crouched down.
Noticing Selina's dishevelled figure, Annabelle spoke in a concerned tone, "Selina, you can't stay there. Just tell them the truth." She urged, understanding the complexity of Selina's situation just like her friend explained on the second day she rushed to the police station after learning of her arrest.
