Chapter 49 - HHES: Chapter 49

Ignoring Loki's departure, Killua turned his attention to the ring. Hisoka, taking Gon's number tag, smiled.

"You're Enhancement type, right?" Hisoka asked.

"How do you know?" Gon replied, surprised.

Hisoka magically put away the tag, pointing at Gon.

"I judge Nen types by personality," Hisoka explained. "Enhancement types are straightforward. Transmutation types are fickle and lie. Emission types are careless and impatient. Manipulation types are independent and logical. Conjuration types are neurotic. Specialization types are individualistic."

Killua was stunned. 'So accurate!' "Did Loki teach you Nen?" he asked.

Gon nodded. "Yes."

"I see. That's why you improved so quickly. But…" Hisoka paused, staring at Gon. "Specialization types are individualistic. Beware of Loki, Gon."

"Why? Loki's nice!"

"Really? I think that kid and I are similar."

Gon thought about Loki. He shook his head. Loki and Hisoka were different.

Seeing Gon's disbelief, Hisoka said, "You feel that way because your goals don't conflict. He's not dangerous to you now, but…"

Hisoka's expression turned serious. "If your goals conflict, even if he has to kill you, he won't hesitate."

Gon's face fell; he agreed with Hisoka.

'That won't happen,' he thought.

Gon and Hisoka's match proceeded as before, except Gon's stronger Nen extended the match.

Gon, injured, returned to the room. Killua closed the door. He thought Gon was disappointed about losing to Hisoka. He didn't realize Gon was thinking about Hisoka's words:

'Beware of Loki, Gon!' 'Specialization types are individualistic.' 'If there's no conflict, he's not a threat. But if there is, he won't hesitate to kill you.'

Thinking about this and Loki's behavior, Gon wondered if Hisoka was right. Loki should have been their friend, but he kept a distance. Over the past few months, they were just acquaintances; they talked, but weren't true friends.

Killua sat beside Gon. "What's wrong, Gon? Losing is fine. Keep training; you'll beat Hisoka."

"Losing to Hisoka is fine. I know the gap."

"Then what's wrong?"

Gon thought about Hisoka's words. "Killua, do you think Loki and I are friends?"

Killua paused. "Strictly speaking, no."

"You think so too?"

While they discussed Loki, Loki found someone influential in the Heaven Arena.

"Mr. Loki! You're the first to get six wins in a few months on floor 200. That's amazing." A fat man in a suit said.

Loki disliked dealing with such people. He stated his purpose.

"Arrange four matches for me to win. Ten wins will attract attention; ten wins lets me challenge the floor master. Then I'll lose, making a lot of money. Interested in cooperating?"

Few on floor 200 cooperated with the Heaven Arena. They were elites; few would do this. Even if some wanted to, the Arena wouldn't care. Luckily, the floor master cooperated with the Arena.

"Happy cooperation," the man said.

The Arena acted quickly, notifying Loki that night that a match could be arranged the next day. They wanted Loki to make the match exciting.

Loki readily agreed to quickly complete the ten-win mission. The next day, he got seven wins. He played for half an hour, acting well.

A week later, he had eight wins, needing two more. After ten wins, he could become floor master or challenge the floor master and move up.

As Loki prepared for his ninth match, Gon and Killua found him.

"Loki, we're leaving the Heaven Arena. Thank you for teaching us Nen!" Gon said.

"Oh? Where are you going?" Loki asked.

"We haven't been home since the Hunter Exam. We're going home, then meeting Kurapika and Leorio in Yorknew City on September 1st," Gon said. Killua looked at Loki. "Will you be in Yorknew City on September 1st?"

"Yes."

"I'll challenge you then," Killua said.

Loki wasn't concerned. It was too early; they'd be worth noting during the Chimera Ant arc. They hadn't even finished learning Nen techniques.

"I look forward to it," Loki said, smiling.

Killua felt Loki wasn't taking him seriously and was annoyed.

"Let's go, Gon!"

Gon waved. "Goodbye, Loki!"

Loki was surprised; they were supposed to stay longer and fight more Nen users. But things were changing. Loki wanted to finish the ten-win mission.

"Ten wins!" the announcer said. "Loki broke the record for fastest ten wins on floor 200. He won consecutively. No one stopped him. Amazing!"

Loki looked at his defeated opponent, jumped off the ring, and left.

Over a month had passed since Gon and Killua left. Today, Loki finished his ten-win mission.

Back in his room, Ding! Congratulations, host. You completed the mission. Reward: One SS-rank lottery draw.

Draw starting…

Congratulations, host. You got an SS-rank character: Hinata Hyūga from Naruto.

Extraction complete! "Hinata Hyūga? Who's that?" He probably wasn't strong. But Loki was interested in the new power.

The Hyūga clan was a noble family in Konoha, known for the Byakugan and Gentle Fist. They weren't exceptionally strong, but the Byakugan was useful, and the Gentle Fist was good.

Loki closed his eyes, then opened them.
