Fury dropped the meat along with their bags. Her arms were numb, but she'd be damned if she'd show any pain. Not while the others were watching. She was furious, but smiled, raising her arms in victory. Winter and Brook held her, squeezing her ribs with little concern for their tender state.
"I'm happy to see you. Come, I laid bedding for you." Blade said picking her up by her arms.
She kneed him off.
"No, not just yet, "The way I feel, it may not be ever." Fury grumbled.
The group stepped back.
" It has been hours, I ended up pulling this piece of carcass away myself, along with all your things. What would have happened if they'd been stolen? What if any IiHagu people had sniffed me out? They can smell meat from a kilometre away,"
She sighed and clenched her fists tightly, opening them once again, only to repeat the process. She calmed or came close enough to safely appear so. It was best she could get away with.
Her eyes drifted to the fire, "Is that goat's meat?"
This was met with a low murmur. Fury didn't get upset, just tired. She ached, grunting.
"I have a plan, a good one." she began, she sat before the fire and pulled the largest piece, drilling her teeth into it.
She signalled everyone to sit with her.
"Winter, Ashley, Hawk, you'll be using your bows, mine needs to be mended. Blade you're better than anyone else. We're going to eat drink and be merry tonight and tonight only. The IiHagu territory is not one we can linger in so we're going to rush it. This is brought upon yourselves, by painting meaty target signs on your backs. The IiHagu eat anything. I had plans on returning, getting more, salting it and selling it to the Fimbili people in Mthojenani."
"How much could we have gotten in gold?" Ferry asked.
"About ten to twenty gold coins, it would be pretty heavily salted by the tenth day, which is when we'd reach the city."
Fury ate more, coating her face in the fat before she started biting through the bone, sucking the marrow. She threw what was left to Winter who ate it.
"How much gold do we have now?" Ferry asked.
Fury looked up. Something was different, she was surprised she hadn't noticed it sooner.
It was as if he'd taken some magical potion. He was taller, his shoulders far tighter than what she was used to. It dawned on her exactly what that potion had been. He'd tasted power; starting the role of succession. Unfortunately, she'd returned, alive and still very able.
