Chapter 15 - The Portal of Dread

We crossed the border, one by one.

With every step, it felt as though death itself was crawling into our very souls. The air grew heavier, colder—not in temperature, but in spirit. Like something ancient was watching.

But we had no choice.

We had been chosen—chosen by the Heart Shards. This mission wasn't a matter of pride or glory. It was necessity. Someone had to do this. And that someone was us.

Fearlessness walked ahead, silent as always. His presence was like a walking cliff—immovable, cold, and towering. No words escaped his lips, but his pace guided us. In his silence, we followed.

Then it happened.

Something… shifted.

A ripple tore through reality, not with a sound, but a feeling—like our bones were rattling from the inside out. And before our very eyes, it appeared. Not a gate. Not a doorway.

A portal.

No—the portal.

It wasn't normal. This thing was colossal. A swirling vortex of darkness and fire, towering into the sky like a black sun eating the heavens. Lightning licked its edges. Shadows clawed at the rim, whispering in voices we weren't meant to understand.

Even Fearlessness stopped.

He stared. No emotion on his face. No fear. No curiosity. Just... silence.

We stood behind him, frozen in place. A moment passed.

Then another.

Then—because fate is cruel—Creativity decided it was the perfect time to speak.

"Eh… So… how big could this demon be anyway?" he said with a forced grin. "I mean, he's probably just scared of us. I would be, if I were him. Haha… right?"

None of us laughed.

Then…

BOOOOOOM.

The earth cracked beneath our feet as something emerged. The very fabric of the world shook. From the depths of the swirling abyss, it came.

A beast.

A demon of unspeakable scale, like a god carved from nightmares. Horns coiled around its head like writhing serpents. Its eyes glowed with crimson hatred, and its breath alone sent shockwaves through the sky.

I had seen Fearlessness' shadow beasts before—terrifying creatures born from his realm—but this... this monster made those look like ants.

It stepped forward.

And our instincts screamed: Run.

But our bodies refused.

We couldn't run. Not anymore. We were the Sharp Fighters—fragments of divine will. This was what we were born for. Not to flee. Not to hesitate.

To fight.

I clenched my fists.

We had trained for this.

Fearlessness emerged from the shadows, his form pulsing with dark energy. He could control more shadows now—faster, stronger, deadlier.

Faith's eyes narrowed. Her inner soul found more paths to listen to!

Justice's aura blazed to life, white and searing. "We do this together."

Wisdom learned now so mutch more abilitys than before. She just had to pull her staff out and she shooted many time controls.

Creativity pulled out the most random things to use in battle. He stood there with a plant in his hand trowing it at the demon

Kindness knelt, placing a glowing hand over a deep cut on her own arm. Her flesh mended beneath her fingertips. "Don't get yourselves killed. I'll cover you."

And me?

I could feel it. The fire.

The rage within me wasn't like before—wild and uncontrollable. Now, it burned steady. Not because I wasn't afraid—but because I was, and I kept moving anyway.

The beast roared, louder than thunder. Its mouth opened, glowing with molten light.

"NOW!" Justice shouted.

All six of us lunged forward at once, each unleashing our strongest attacks. A storm of light, shadow, fire, and time collided into a singular moment of fury.

Kindness stood at the back, watching, her hands glowing with healing magic.

But then—

Her eyes widened.

"No…" she whispered.

The beast's eyes suddenly glowed—wild, chaotic, hungry.

"GUYS, WAIT—!!"

Too late.

The demon opened its jaws and unleashed a beam of blazing hellfire. It wasn't just heat—it was destruction incarnate. The kind that didn't burn flesh—it erased it.

The fire beam clashed with our combined attack mid-air.

BOOOOOOM!

A cataclysmic explosion rocked the battlefield. A shockwave tore across the land, flattening mountains in the distance. The sky turned white. The air screamed.

And we—

We were thrown back like dolls.

I hit the ground hard.

My ears rang.

My body trembled.

Was it over…?

Had we lost…?

My vision blurred as I stared up at the ruined sky.
