Chapter 80 - Chapter 79: Reconstruction

The plan for Mingde Hall's reconstruction was quickly finalized. The meeting went exceedingly well.

After all, Mingde Hall was practically Jing Hongchen's personal domain. Any plan he deemed feasible was guaranteed to pass. Bureaucracy had no place here.

At this moment, under Huo Yuhao's guidance, the new soul tool production zone within Mingde Hall had already begun to take shape—a fully functional production workshop was already operational. Huo Yuhao was currently leading a group of high-ranking soul engineers through the area, introducing the new automated equipment.

"Roller conveyors, belt conveyors, chain board lines, drying lines, assembly lines, differential chain lines, insertion lines, and combination lines—these are all assembly line soul tools that can significantly reduce the need for manual labor. With them, soul tool assembly is virtually hands-free. Take a look: here we place the inscribed core formations and various components…"

With a hum, the automated machinery came to life under Huo Yuhao's operation. In the astonished gazes of the soul engineers, a fifth-grade sealed milk bottle—normally quite labor-intensive to produce—was assembled right before their eyes.

"With these sealed milk bottles, soul tools no longer need us to manually recharge them. Convenient, isn't it? As soul engineers, our most important role lies in the inscription of core formations. That's where we truly shine. So let these machines handle the time-consuming grunt work. Even the simpler structural parts can be produced entirely by automated soul tool machinery—no human hands needed."

Huo Yuhao's explanation won unanimous approval from the group of high-level soul engineers.

Expanding the use of automated production in Mingde Hall didn't just mean saving manpower—it meant a leap in efficiency.

Though the place might now resemble a large-scale factory, soul tool technology on the Douluo Continent was nothing like Earth's. Research and manufacturing were tightly intertwined. Calling most soul engineers glorified inscription technicians wasn't far off the mark.

Of course, there would always be unique and intricately crafted soul tools that had to be developed by hand. The development of soul tools would inevitably diverge into two paths: mass production for societal strength, and personalized crafting for individual power. For a world like Douluo, both were essential.

"You are the finest soul engineers Mingde Hall has to offer," Huo Yuhao said. "The responsibility of rebuilding falls on your shoulders. Just like the new structural divisions within Mingde Hall, we will begin categorizing soul engineers as well. Everyone has different specialties, so I would like to start with a classification of the team responsible for the reconstruction."

His words weren't exactly gentle—they might even have sounded a bit harsh. But these soul engineers, most of whom were at least seventh-rank and held some of the highest social standing in the Sun Moon Empire, didn't take offense.

Firstly, Huo Yuhao now spoke with Jing Hongchen's authority, holding absolute command within the Hall. Secondly, his demonstrated wisdom had earned their respect. In their eyes, he was already on par with legendary figures like Xuan Ziwen, the genius behind the sealed milk bottle.

"I trust in your judgment," Huo Yuhao continued. "If you believe you have the same pioneering potential as Teacher Xuan Ziwen, please step to this side."

Most of the engineers shook their heads. Even as top-tier soul engineers—seventh- or even eighth-rank—the mental power required to inscribe core formations of this caliber was already immense. To expect them to also possess the genius and creativity of someone like Xuan Ziwen was asking too much.

Only a few, those who had genuinely developed new soul tools before, stepped forward with confidence.

Huo Yuhao nodded. "Then the task of rebuilding the soul tool research sector falls to you. Teacher Xuan Ziwen will guide your efforts. As for the rest of you, I will lead you in reconstructing the production sector. We have a long road ahead."

With another day's work completed, the engineers left for rest. Only Huo Yuhao remained alone in the vast, empty hall.

Though the area was now shrouded in darkness, he walked through the debris-filled ruins as if it were broad daylight.

He wasn't using Spiritual Detection. He wasn't even sensing the environment with spiritual power.

The reason he could see clearly in total darkness was—he had recently begun to grasp a trace of the power of darkness that Long Xiaoyao had instructed him to comprehend three months prior.

Using darkness to perceive the surroundings in darkness was itself a form of cultivation. Now that his time for formal practice was limited by the reconstruction workload, Huo Yuhao naturally wouldn't waste such an opportunity.

Still, that wasn't the only reason he had stayed behind in the empty Mingde Hall.

He arrived at the heap of soul tool fragments and metallic scraps he had ordered the workers to preserve. From his Eye of Creation and Destruction, he drew forth the Blade of Creation and Destruction.

Previously mentioned, this weapon had two modes. Huo Yuhao switched it into its carving mode. Instantly, the blade radiated a deep violet-green glow, and was soon enveloped by a layer of rich golden light.

He picked up a damaged fragment bearing a broken core formation and lightly traced it with the blade. Instantly, the broken formation lines began to glow, and the piece slowly restored itself to a fully intact core formation.

He placed it into his storage soul tool and continued the repetitive, tedious work.

What exactly was he doing?

Typically, a damaged core formation was considered unsalvageable. Once the internal soul power lines were broken, repairing it was basically the same as re-inscribing a whole new one.

But one day while using the Blade of Creation and Destruction, Huo Yuhao discovered something—he could actually repair core formations directly with it.

This process was the most basic application of Creation energy—still incredibly valuable to someone like Huo Yuhao who had barely scratched the surface of mastering it. It barely consumed spiritual or soul power, but gave him the chance to grow more familiar with wielding Creation.

If he tried to use the blade's full power to create core formations from scratch, the burden on his current abilities would be far too much.
