Xiao Hongchen's expression was complicated. After all, he was Meng Hongchen's older brother. Hearing the method Huo Yuhao proposed to help her naturally made him uncomfortable.
But at this critical moment, where Meng Hongchen was clearly in danger and desperately needed help—and given how much Xiao Hongchen trusted Huo Yuhao—he didn't say a word of protest.
Jing Hongchen thought for a moment, then nodded without hesitation.
"Alright, do as you must, Yuhao. But… as your teacher, I must ask—what exactly do you think of my granddaughter?"
Jing Hongchen fixed Huo Yuhao with a direct, penetrating stare. The situation had come this far—he needed a clear answer.
Huo Yuhao met his gaze calmly and without fear.
"She's someone I'm willing to give everything to protect, to help her through this cold poison tribulation."
Though he didn't give a straightforward answer, Jing Hongchen understood all the same.
He let out a relieved laugh. 'This boy…'
"Good, good. You know how to talk, Yuhao. Then go—now that you've said that, I can rest easy."
Huo Yuhao nodded and jogged off under Jing Hongchen's gratified gaze.
Once he was gone, Jing Hongchen turned to Xiao Hongchen with a smile.
"Xiao, what do you think? Having our Yuhao become your brother-in-law?"
Xiao Hongchen: 'Why are you even asking when you've already made up your mind?'
He sighed silently and nodded. 'Guess that's just how all older brothers are… At least he's a good match.'
Huo Yuhao entered Meng Hongchen's room and saw Xue Di standing nearby with a worried look, and Meng Hongchen herself, whose face was now clearly contorted in pain.
"Xue Di, how is she?"
Xue Di shook her head.
"Not good. The first wave of cold poison has already flared up. Right now, she's likely enduring the pain of her meridians being corroded by the poison."
Huo Yuhao's heart ached as he looked at Meng Hongchen's suffering expression.
'Don't worry, Senior Sister. I'm here to help you.'
"No time to waste—let's begin. Yuhao, I'll assist you."
As she spoke, Xue Di returned to Huo Yuhao's spiritual world under his guidance, taking over some control of his Ultimate Ice soul power.
The method to suppress Meng Hongchen's cold poison was actually quite simple: use Huo Yuhao's Ultimate Ice power to suppress the fiery attribute surging through her body, thereby reducing the effect of the poisonous reaction.
But her entire body—every meridian—was affected by the cold poison, and the fire attribute energy was scattered throughout. That meant that the two of them had to be in full-body contact, no barriers whatsoever, so that the power of Ultimate Ice could evenly distribute across her system. Otherwise, an uneven suppression could cause flare-ups in specific areas, worsening the backlash and even threatening her life.
In simpler terms, both Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen had to remove all clothing and embrace skin-to-skin. That was why Jing Hongchen and Xiao Hongchen had such complicated expressions when hearing this solution.
But there was no alternative. This "tofu" could only be eaten by Huo Yuhao. Xue Di, as a 700,000-year-old beast, had ice energy that was far too violent. Huo Yuhao's Ultimate Ice, though powerful, was far gentler—safer for delicate internal work.
Besides, once the process began, Huo Yuhao would have no spare attention to "enjoy" anything. Full-body contact or not, he would be too focused on controlling the flow of energy to have any stray thoughts.
Thankfully, with Xue Di assisting, the worst outcomes could be avoided. Without her, Huo Yuhao wouldn't have had the confidence to carry this out.
Taking a deep breath, Huo Yuhao activated the only necromancy spell he had learned from Electrolux: Heart of Still Death, entering a state of complete emotional calm and analytical precision.
He gently laid Meng Hongchen flat on the bed and, like a meticulous surgeon, began undressing her.
Though her soft, fair, youthful body was fully revealed before him, Huo Yuhao's mind remained absolutely clear—he was in full "sage mode."
Once he was done, he removed his own clothes, climbed onto the bed, and wrapped his arms tightly around her, pressing their bare bodies together.
In the spiritual world, Bing Di covered her flushed face while smashing a certain lecherous worm who kept yelling "Let me see too!" deep into the white sand.
Huo Yuhao had already blocked all male vision from his spiritual domain.
Calmly, he said:
"Xue Di, let's begin."
Sensing his steady composure, both Xue Di, Bing Di, and the Heavenly Dream Iceworm were left in awe.
'Heart of Still Death… terrifying.'
".Alright, Yuhao. Don't rush. Listen to my instructions carefully."
In an instant, a faint blue-white aura of Ultimate Ice spread from Huo Yuhao's body, plunging the entire room into a rapidly chilling cold.
Once the temperature had dropped enough, they carefully guided the icy aura across Meng Hongchen's skin and into her body.
If someone could see her meridians now, they would witness streaks of red fire attribute light slowly fading into blue as the Ultimate Ice passed over them—suppressing the fire attribute bit by bit.
This would take a long time. Every trace of fire attribute power needed to be fully suppressed, or it would just flare up again soon.
Under the purifying effect of the Ultimate Ice, the cold poison within her began to fade, and the pain on her face slowly eased, becoming peaceful once more.
Inside her subconscious, still locked in deep meditation, Meng Hongchen had been struggling alone in a blazing and freezing purgatory. She felt helpless and alone—but she also knew she had to endure.
Suddenly, a warm-yet-cold presence wrapped around her. It comforted her. The burning pain was slowly dulled by the creeping cold. 'Who was that...?'
Two hours passed.
By now, Huo Yuhao had pushed both his soul power and spiritual power to their limits. If not for Xue Di's ongoing support, he likely wouldn't have lasted this long.
Fortunately, the toxic fire within Meng Hongchen had been fully suppressed. It wouldn't flare again for at least two or three years.
Of course, the next time it erupted, Huo Yuhao could still use this method to help—but it would get harder each time. And the intervals between outbreaks would grow shorter.
