Chapter 7 - Episode7:Tears Without a Name

Scene 1: Hospital Exterior – Early Morning

The camera pans over a sleek, high-security private hospital surrounded by a quiet city skyline. The sky is pale and overcast.

The atmosphere is somber — as if time is holding its breath.

Scene 2: Hospital Room – Interior

Maya lies unconscious on the bed, bandaged, pale, hooked up to monitors.

Close-up – her hand is still, resting on the blanket.

A slow beeping sound from the heart monitor.

A single tear trails down her cheek… from somewhere memory cannot reach.

Outside the room – Caleb stands silently behind the glass window. His overcoat is still on, but he looks like he hasn't slept.

Henrik approaches him with a coffee cup.

Henrik:

"You should get some rest."

Caleb:

"She jumped… right in front of me."

Henrik looks hesitant, but speaks gently.

Henrik:

"She didn't jump because she's weak. She jumped because you left her no choice."

Caleb glares at him — just for a moment. Then turns away, jaw tight.

Caleb:

"She's alive. That's what matters now."

Scene 3:Hospital Room – Maya Awakens

Maya's fingers twitch.

Close-up of her eyelashes fluttering.

Her eyes slowly open. Blurry ceiling. Harsh lights. Dizziness.

Monitors beep faster for a second.

Outside Maya's Room – Caleb's Inner Reaction

Caleb watches Maya stir on the hospital bed through the glass. Her fingers twitch. Her eyes flutter open.

That moment — her awakening — hits him like a punch to the chest. But only for a second.

Caleb's POV (thoughts):

She's awake…

A part of me should be relieved. But why does it feel like I'm holding my breath?

Henrik, beside him, straightens.

Henrik:

"She's waking up."

Caleb takes a quiet breath. His jaw clenches — not from anger, but from the effort of shoving down whatever just rose in him.

Then, like flipping a switch — his expression goes blank. Eyes cold. Posture strong.

Caleb (even, composed tone):

"Call the doctor. Now."

Henrik (nodding):

"On it."

Henrik walks away briskly. Caleb takes one last second, adjusting his coat, then pushes open the door — like nothing inside him had ever faltered.

Close-up – her gaze scans the ceiling, confused.

Maya (weakly):

"Where... am I?"

She winces as she tries to sit up. Her body aches. Her hand reaches for her temple — it's bandaged.

Maya (thinking):

Why does my head feel so heavy…?

The door opens. Caleb steps inside, slow, quiet. He stops at the foot of the bed, his expression unreadable.

Maya turns her head toward him. Her brows furrow slightly.

Maya:

"…Who are you?"

Close-up – Caleb's eyes narrow. A flicker of emotion, quickly masked.

Caleb (flatly):

"You don't remember me?"

Maya shakes her head, confused, growing anxious.

Maya:

"No… I don't… I don't remember anything…"

She grabs the blanket tightly.

Maya:

"Who am I…?"

Caleb walks to the chair beside the bed and sits down, leaning forward slightly.

Caleb (calmly, but cold):

"Your name is Maya Serrano. You were in an accident. You're safe now."

Maya looks at him, wide-eyed, fragile.

Maya:

"Are you… my family?"

Pause. Caleb looks at her — the temptation to lie flickers across his face. But he doesn't. Not yet.

Caleb:

"No. I'm the man who saved your life."

Maya's lips tremble. She glances down. Her hands are shaking.

Maya (softly):

"Why do I feel… so sad?"

Close-up – Caleb's expression cracks just a little. Guilt or something deeper.

Caleb (thinking):

Even with no memory… she still feels it.

Caleb stands to leave. But just before he exits, he turns back slightly.

Caleb:

"Rest. I'll be nearby."

His voice is low, conflicted.

Just as Caleb turns to walk away from Maya's bedside, the door opens. Doctor steps in, holding a clipboard. Henrik follows quietly behind, then stops at the doorway.

Doctor (enters, clipboard in hand):

"You said she was awake?"

Caleb:

"Yes."

Maya turns toward them, still dazed.

Doctor (softly, with a gentle smile):

"Good morning. How are you feeling?"

Maya (quiet, confused):

"…I'm not sure. My head feels… empty."

Doctor (nods):

"That's okay. I just want to check a few things."

He checks her eyes, reflexes, and responses.

Doctor (still gently):

"Can you tell me your name?"

Maya:

"…I don't know."

She looks scared for a moment, her eyes darting between them.

Doctor (reassuring):

"Don't worry. Sometimes, after trauma, things can be a little fuzzy. It doesn't mean something's wrong. Just rest for now."

Maya slowly calms. Caleb stays still, watching her.

The doctor and Caleb step just outside the room. Henrik stays nearby but doesn't speak.

Doctor (low voice):

"The scans were accurate. Retrograde amnesia — likely trauma-induced. It's real."

Caleb (tense, eyes fixed through the glass):

"How long will it last?"

Doctor:

"It varies. It could be days… weeks. Or never. But for now, she shouldn't be forced to remember."

Caleb:

"I won't force her."

Doctor:

"Good. Let her mind recover on its own. Pushing her could do more harm."

The doctor walks away. Caleb remains at the glass, watching Maya silently. Behind his unreadable expression — a storm.

Inside Maya's Hospital Room – A Quiet Void

Maya lies in bed, staring at the ceiling. The ticking clock is the only sound.

Her hands slowly curl into the blanket. She blinks, then turns her head toward the door — sensing eyes on her.

Through the glass, she sees Caleb watching her. She holds his gaze for a second… then looks away.

Scene 4:Hospital Corridor – Henrik and Caleb

Henrik (quietly, beside Caleb):

"She really doesn't remember."

Caleb (calm, but firm):

"No. But don't say anything. Not in front of her."

Henrik:

"What now?"

Caleb (eyes narrowing):

"She stays with us. I'll take care of it."

Henrik (nods):

"I'll arrange everything."

Henrik walks away. Caleb stays still for a moment, then exhales slowly.

Scene 5:The Unspoken Tension

Maya lies on the hospital bed, pale and groggy. The IV drip ticks beside her. The door opens quietly, and Caleb steps in.

Her eyes flutter, adjusting to the light.

Maya (barely above a whisper):

"…Are you… someone I should know?"

Caleb (low, composed):

"You're safe. That's enough for now."

She tries to shift but winces. Her hand moves slightly on the bedsheet.

Maya (slowly, unsure):

"…Where's my family?"

Caleb's gaze sharpens slightly. His jaw tightens, but he masks it well.

Caleb (measured):

"When I found you after the accident… you were the only one alive."

Maya blinks. She looks at him, processing his words through the fog in her head.

Maya (softly):

"Then… can we find them? My father…?"

Caleb hesitates. Then finally, he answers — cold, calm, honest.

Caleb:

"You're alone in this world now."

The words hit her, but slowly. Not all at once. She stares at him, confused. Her vision swims slightly.

Maya (dizzy, murmuring):

"…Alone…"

Her hand weakly grips the edge of the blanket. She breathes deeper — slower. Her eyes flicker.

Maya (struggling):

"…It's hard to think… everything feels… heavy…"

She leans her head back slowly, overwhelmed.

Maya (barely audible):

"…Why does it feel like I'm forgetting something important…?"

She blinks hard, trying to stay awake, but her eyelids grow heavier.

Caleb (gently, almost to himself):

"Sleep. You need it."

Her eyes close — not suddenly, but slowly — like a patient giving in to exhaustion, not escape.

Caleb watches her. Silent. Still. Alone.

Scene 6:The Price of Silence

Maya lies asleep under soft white sheets, her face pale but calm. The heart monitor ticks steadily beside her. IV drips, dim lights, a sterile quiet.

Caleb stands near the bed, hands in his coat pockets, staring down at her.

He should walk away. He told himself he would.

But instead… he slowly pulls the chair closer and sits down beside her.

His elbows rest on his knees. For a moment, his hands clasp — as if trying to keep something inside from spilling out.

He looks at her — the girl who once screamed at him with fire in her eyes… now lying helpless, silent, with no memory of who he truly is.

A deep breath escapes him — barely audible.

His gaze lingers on the small bandage on her forehead… on the bruises… on her weak hand resting near the edge of the bed.

And then — just for a second — his expression flickers.

Caleb (in his mind, not spoken):

"This… is because of me."

He doesn't say it aloud. He never would.

But the weight of it settles in his chest like stone.

He looks away briefly, his jaw tightening — then back at her.

Stillness. Silence. A war inside him.
