Chapter 14 – The Reckoning
Florence, Present Day & 1533
Sofia and Marco stood face to face in the villa's grand hall, the air thick with tension. The walls seemed to whisper secrets, shadows flickering as if alive.
A sudden knock echoed through the silence.
The caretaker appeared, eyes hard. "You've stirred forces better left alone."
Before they could respond, the room blurred—time bending as if the past itself was reaching through.
Suddenly, they were no longer alone.
Beatrice and Matteo stood before them—ghosts of a love torn apart by fate, yet burning with undying fire.
Beatrice's eyes locked with Sofia's. "You carry our story now. But beware—the price of love is never small."
Matteo stepped forward. "To change the past is to risk the future. Are you willing?"
Sofia and Marco exchanged a determined glance.
"We are," Sofia said.
The villa trembled, the boundary between centuries cracking open.
Their journey was no longer just discovery—it was a reckoning.
