Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Elena's POV

I got to the location.

Quiet. Empty. Almost too calm.

It was an old warehouse. Rusted gates. Broken windows. The kind of place stories end—badly. I parked where Julian told me to, heart hammering.

My palms were sweating against the wheel. I checked the rearview mirror. No sign of the cops yet. No sign of Julian either.

I got out anyway.

Each step felt like a mistake.

But I kept going. I had to.

The wind howled through cracks in the building. Something clanged in the distance—metal on metal. I stopped. Listened. Nothing.

My phone buzzed in my pocket.

A message.

"Don't try anything stupid."

No number. Just those five words.

I swallowed hard and pushed the door open.

The air was colder inside. Damp. It smelled like mold and rust.

Chills ran down my spine.

Because I wasn't alone.

A figure stepped out from behind a pillar. Hoodie. Mask. Silent.

No name. No identity. Just eyes watching me.
