YUTA 'S POV
I stood in my state, my feet trembling as though I was suffering from a convulsion. The Vampwolf rose his head back into the air as it took in a deep breathe trying to pinpoint my location, apparently this Vampwolf was blind or maybe Vampwolves didn't have the ability to see, either way I couldn't tell cause my so called guardian angel didn't deem it fit to tell me.
Anyway, back to the problem at hand, the Vampwolf turned in my direction, it seemed he finally pinpointed my scent. I had to think of something and fast, or I'd become the vampwolf's next meal.
"Think, Yuta, think!" I muttered to myself, trying to come up with a plan. My head aching with numerous thoughts.
That's when I remembered the words from my white hair protagonist's sensei: "When in danger, stay calm and focus on your surroundings."
What did that even mean. How was that supposed to help me.
"Relax Yuta, take a deep breath and run" My senses screamed and I quickly obliged.
I took a deep breath and swiftly began to run through the forest, my feet pounding against the earth. The Vampwolf gave chase, its growls echoing through the trees.
I darted between the tree trunks, using my agility to evade the creature's snapping jaws. But I knew I couldn't keep this up for much longer, his legs were a lot longer and he was way to big for me to avoid being trampled upon.
Just as I was starting to get tired, I saw a figure standing in the distance. Her long midnight black hair flowing down her back like a river, and her piercing eyes which were now brown for some reason seemed to burrowed into me.
It was no other than Aria, my guardian angel.
Relief washed over me as I lunched towards her, but to my surprise, she wasn't smiling. Instead, her face was twisted in a scowl, and her eyes blazed with fury.
"Yuta, what did you do?" she thundered, her voice like a crack of lightning, as she punched me across the face. "You have ruined me. You sent me to this doomed world and for what? so you could punish me for not protecting you. Big deal, I am not the first guardian angel to fluck my responsibilities"
I looked up at her, rubbing my bruised cheek, a mix of relief and trepidation. Relief that Aria was here to save me, it's a good thing that I choice her with all her Godly powers but trepidation at facing her wrath for choosing her against her will.
"I-I'm sorry, Aria," I stammered, trying to explain, but came to an abrupt halt when I noticed the Vampwolf standing behind her, its eyes fixed on us with an unnerving intensity. "Aria, behind you..."
Aria's eyes doubled in size as she stiffly turned her neck, in a bit to see the so-called Vampwolf.
Immediately she came face to face with the beast, it groaned loudly.
Aria's expression changed in an instant. Her shock vanished, replaced by a look of great fear as she scrambled behind me to my surprise.
"Protect me Yuta, I think that beast is trying to eat me" she growled, stunning me. I stood there motionless, paralyzed by utter dismay.
Wasn't she supposed to be protecting me, after all that was the job of a guardian angel.
The Vampwolf didn't move an inch at this point, I guess it wanted to play with it's food before eating.
"What did you say? You are supposed to be protecting me not the other way around," I thunder at her.
"Yes, I could but unfortunately I don't have my magic powers all thanks to some jerk who thought it would be cool to bring his guardian angel on a suicide mission" She yelled, trembling in her boots.
"I knew it, you lied about this mission being safe, didn't you..." I accused in anger, my blood boiling.
"That's not the point Yuta, just get rid of that thing before it kills us" She said with urgency.
"You're right. Maybe you could defeat it with your combat skills," I suggested. Now that I think about it, guardian angels are often known for their impressive combat skills. I'm sure she could protect us with that.
"Emm... about that... I kind of skipped combat classes..." She confessed and my heart scatters. Of course she flunked school too, why exactly did I ever put my trust in this woman, I would have been better off picking a broom as my companion.
"So basically you are useless" I said my head hung low with disappointment.
"No need to be so rude," She grumbled with a frown "I have an idea, why don't you handle it. After all you have magical powers now"
My intrigues were immediately plagued,
"You gave me power?" I asked and she nodded with excitement, "What kind of powers?"
"Was it ice magic..., probably earth magic..., or was it water magic..." She disappointed me once more, bet she was too lazy to actually read through the list of powers, I am sure she just did a random selection, "Either way, it's an awesome power. So you basically got this. Don't forget you're the hero destined to free this world from the Vampwolves"
Aria's words echoed in my mind, I was indeed the hero of this world, I was just like Roku, the brave white hair protagonist from my manga. I looked down at my hands, and for a moment, I thought I saw the protagonist's gloves on my fingers.
"I can do this" I said to myself, pulling out my sword from its hilt, but before I could react, Aria's voice broke through the air.
"Fight, Yuta! Don't just stand there!"
I turned to her, only to spot her running away. Guess she abandoned me, how typical.
Emboldened, I raised my hands, ready to cast a powerful magic spell. I opened my mouth to shout the first thing that came to mind "Wind magic activate" I screamed, but nothing happened.
"Ice magic activate" I called out again but still nothing, but I refused to give up, I tried wind and fire magic but to no avail.
No magical energy surged through my veins. No spell was cast. I was just a normal human, standing in front of a ferocious Vampwolf.
My heart sunk to my stomach, my determination quickly transformed into fear, and I was left paralyzed by fear.
The creature's eyes locked onto mine, and I knew I was doomed. Its jaws opened wide, revealing razor-sharp fangs, as it readied itself to engulf me.
At this point there was nothing I could do but pray for a miracle. I closed my eyes, waiting for the inevitable.
My life flashed before my eyes. I saw my childhood, my friends, my family, my second chance... Aria. I cried, covering my face with my hands.
I waited and waited patiently for it's bite, a bite that never came. After waiting for a while I reopened my eyes, only to be met with by an unexpected sight:
The Vampwolf was frozen solid, encased in a thick layer of ice.
I blinked, unsure of what I was seeing. How was this possible? I didn't have any magical powers... did I?
I took a step back, my eyes fixed on the frozen Vampwolf, then my hands.
My heart swore with excitement and disbelief.
I was now a magic caster, a wielder of ice magic. This world just got a lot more interesting.
