Chapter 78 - the usual

Got

One Month In

The arsenal was already moved, tucked away in the new apartment's soundproof basement—the kind of stash that could ignite wars, but to them, well for nox it was just "toys."

Morning hit their routine hard and fast. Workout, breakfast—Nox usually cooked, his messy bun barely contained beneath a cap, violet eyes calm but alert. Leo brewed the coffee, icy blue gaze steady as always.

After breakfast, they left together for the company—their mafia-run weapons research firm now fully official, licenses stamped, payrolls set. The machinery hummed quietly in the background, while loyal mafia members worked in sync, their movements disciplined and precise.

Midday brought their usual lunch at the villa. Dominik was already there, pacing nervously, flustered as ever, while Leo's father sat with a calm, steady presence that balanced the room. The conversation danced between business updates and veiled reminders about security and legacy. Leo's father eyed Nox with a mixture of awe and approval, while Dominik tried—and failed—to hide his mental meltdown over the duo's 'too-close-for-comfort' routine.

Back at the apartment, after handling assignments and hacking, the city wrapped itself around their quiet sanctuary. Wine glasses clinked softly. The phone buzzed—blueprints from Russia had finally arrived, encrypted and flawless.

Leo pressed his forehead against Nox's, cigarette flame igniting one from the other. Smoke curled between them like a silent promise. "The blueprints have arrived."

Nox filled Leo's glass and changed the channel with a knowing nod.

Night fell, but rest was a stranger.

It was Nox who slipped out, not Leo. Silent as a shadow, the assassin moved into the darkness for a sniper mission—one where all rules were off. His bullet wound freshly healed, but the hunger for the fight undimmed.

Leo stayed behind, frustration tightening his jaw, refusing to let Nox go, but ultimately resigned. He settled with his own tasks—budgeting for new machinery, monitoring their growing empire—and waited, tense, for Nox's safe return.

Elsewhere

Dominik was gripping the latest surveillance reports like a drama script, pacing in front of the ex-boss's desk.

"They shared a cigarette. Again."

The ex-boss sighed, rubbing his temples.

"Did you see how Leo lit his cigarette from Nox's? That's not just partnership, that's an intimate dance. And Nox letting Leo touch his laptop inside the apartment? That's trust, sacred trust!"

Dominik's voice cracked with disbelief.

"I swear, if they get any closer, I'm gonna have to start planning their wedding."

The ex-boss just shook his head.
