After a few minutes of walking, Dawn arrived in front of a large building that looked more like the remains of a rocket. A massive windmill spun in the back of the structure. Without wasting time, Dawn pushed the door open, flooding the place with her contagious energy.
"Professor Rowan, look what I found!!!" she shouted, jumping like a Buneary, raising poor Ryoung, who was still in her arms, showing the small creature to Professor Rowan.
The professor, who had been looking at a translucent visor floating in front of a strange projector sphere, turned his head with a surprised expression.
"Wait a moment, little Dawn—you're already back—?!" he exclaimed, his eyes bulging as he looked at the strange Pokémon in Dawn's arms.
"Little Dawn, where did you find this one?" asked the professor. He was a man around 60 years old, with light skin, blue eyes, and spiky white hair, along with thick sideburns and a mustache. He wore a gray blazer over a white shirt, a light blue vest, a gray tie, dark teal pants, and gray shoes.
"Near the entrance of the forest!" Dawn replied with her radiant smile.
Nodding, the professor turned and walked over to a table covered with scattered documents. After a few seconds of searching, he returned holding a strange red device.
Ryoung grew a little concerned upon seeing the device, but his worries faded when he recognized it was a Pokédex. Calmly, the professor approached and pointed it at Ryoung.
After a few seconds, Professor Rowan's expression shifted rapidly before a smile spread across his face.
"Hahahaha!!! What a wonderful thing. After years of research, I just discovered a new Pokémon!" he laughed joyfully.
Hearing his laughter, Dawn turned to look at Ryoung, who stared back with his large eyes. "He's really so cute!" she giggled and asked, "Does that mean I can give him a name?"
Thinking for a moment, the professor nodded and asked her to follow him.
"First, we need to run some tests!" he said, walking down a long hallway. After about two minutes, they stood in front of a strange metal door with a sign hanging in front of it.
"Research Lab 1," Dawn murmured as she read the sign.
"Yes. Inside is one of my greatest inventions!" he said proudly, catching her attention. "Inside is my newest Pokémon machine, the Poké-Analyzer. With it, I can discover types and some details about the Pokémon. Maybe we can even add it to the Pokédex."
Without waiting for the door to open, the professor stepped forward. A green light blinking in the corner turned solid, and the door opened.
"Amazing! As expected of the professor!" Dawn exclaimed brightly.
Inside the room, computers lined every wall. A large tube stood in the center, a big screen on the left side, and several cables ran from the tube to all the computers.
"Place him inside the tube," the professor said, walking over to power up a computer. That action triggered a chain reaction, and within seconds, all the monitors lit up.
Ryoung looked at the strange machine that resembled an incubator. He felt no danger from it, so he didn't resist. Once inside, tiny needles took blood samples, and multiple sensors scanned him over and over.
In front of the screen, the professor typed furiously like a pianist at a concert. Lines of data climbed rapidly across the screen—so many numbers and letters that they'd make even an AI dizzy.
Data... Unknown Pokémon...
Type: Dragon/Fairy
Region: Not found
Age: 10 days
Seeing the information, Professor Rowan was stunned.
"A Pokémon with opposing attributes?!"
Ryoung was truly a Pokémon with great potential. But the professor's body tensed when he read the "Region: Not found" line. Even unknown Pokémon would trigger a satellite scan for similar species—but this one showed nothing. Only two scenarios existed where no match appeared: unique Pokémon or...
"Ultra Beast," the professor muttered, eyes wide as he looked at Ryoung. This was the first time an Ultra Beast had appeared outside its native region.
The professor wasn't ignorant about the term; he had done research with his friend Kukui from the Alola region.
Unaware of the significance of the professor's muttering, Dawn understood just one thing:
"This little dragon is incredibly amazing!"
Taking Ryoung out of the incubator, she hugged him tightly, squishing his face against her small chest.
'Not as flat as I thought,' Ryoung mused.
But a shiver ran down his spine as he noticed a pair of eyes glaring at him with suspicion.
"I don't know what you're thinking, but it better not be rude!" Dawn pouted, turning her face away.
'How cute... I think I've chosen my trainer,' Ryoung thought. He had made up his mind—Dawn would be his partner on this new journey.
Ignoring the pair, the professor continued analyzing the incubator's data and soon updated the Pokédex.
"Here, take this," he said, handing the device to Dawn.
She pointed it at Ryoung.
Beep! Cyantherion!!
An Ultra Beast from an unmapped dimension. It appears to have spatial manipulation capabilities and control over crystals.
"Incredible!!" Dawn shouted, excited despite not fully understanding the term Ultra Beast.
Seeing the girl's joy, the professor decided to prepare a small backpack for her upcoming travels.
"I hope your journey will be filled with adventure," he whispered, stepping out of the room.

Author's Note: This chapter was short because I wrote it at work during my lunch break, but I'll try to keep it to a minimum of 1000 words!
