Chapter 9 - Revealed Potential

~Flashback to earlier in the inn's courtyard~

"Alright, everyone, draw your weapons." said Davorin firmly.

"I also want to know your proficiency status as shown on your Devices." he continued, addressing the party.

"This Device shows our weapon proficiency too? Damn it. Why is this system only showing up now, and not when we first chose our weapons? Argh... my penalties are awfu." Davorin muttered under his breath

---

Weapon Type : Dual Sword

User : Davorin Destanov

Proficiency : Blade Initiate (Advisory Level)

Proficiency with dual swords is very low, as the user has never used swords before. As a result, several penalties apply:

•Accuracy: -50%

•Attack Speed: -50%

Traits:

• Resonance Left Hand and Right Hand

Due to the user's exceptional coordination between both hands, a buff is applied when wielding a weapon in each hand.

• Edge of Survivor

Having experience near death shredded, torn, and on the brink of his final breath—he still fought on and survived.

Trait Effects:

•+15% attack speed when alternating strikes with both hands.

•+50% attack power when holding a single weapon with both hands. (Resonance Left Hand and Right Hand)

•Maintains calm and makes quick decisions under pressure. (Edge of Survivor)

---

"Alright, take a look at mine, Davorin." said Ailsa, stepping forward.

---

Weapon Type : Dual Dagger

User : Ailsa Faye

Proficiency. : Dagger Novice (Advisory Level)

Proficiency with dual daggers is also low due to inexperience. Penalties applied:

•Attack Speed: -50%

•Accuracy: -50%

Trait:

• Echo of the Danseur

Her body, once shaped by rigorous training and stage performances, moves with rhythm, balance, and subconscious precision. She remains on her feet in any terrain.

Trait Effects:

•Nearly impossible to fall, slip, or lose balance even on slippery, uneven, or moving surfaces.

---

"Hmm. Not falling under any condition is quite the advantage for a close-range fighter." Davorin thought. "She must've been a highly skilled ballerina. Damn it, and all I got was a speed buff..."

"Alright, next. Logan, may I see your Device?" Davorin asked.

"HAHAHAHA! Go ahead, young man. Look all you want!" Logan laughed heartily.

---

Weapon Type : Knuckles / Unarmed

User : Logan

Proficiency : Iron Hand (Veteran Level)

Years of daily training and martial arts mastery forged Logan's fists into weapons of steel. Buffs received from mastery:

•Attack Power ×2

•50% chance to gain an additional 30% attack power when striking after assuming a proper stance.

Trait:

• Master of Martial Art

His body recalls every discipline he's ever studied. Each muscle knows when to relax and when to strike. His movements dominate the battlefield, and his hardened spirit renders him fearless.

Trait Effects:

•Can utilize martial arts techniques up to veteran level(Black belt karate power) effectively.

•Immune to fear, panic, provocation, and mind control during battle.

---

"Wow. You really are that strong, Logan." Davorin said, impressed.

"HAHAHAHA! Told you I was." Logan boomed with pride.

"Alright, Ewan. Can I see yours?" Davorin called out.

"Go ahead." Ewan replied, holding up his Device.

---

Weapon Type : Round Shield

User. : Ewan

Proficiency : Iron Pupil (Apprentice Level)

Though unfamiliar with the round shield, Ewan's natural strength and compatibility with the weapon negate the usual penalties and provide a buff:

•+10% defense when holding the shield with both hands.

Trait:

• Lumberwall

Hands that once felled trees now block storms and strike with the force of the forest itself.

Trait Effects:

•+10% defense when wielding anything with wooden components.

•+10% defense when standing near trees.

---

"Looks like you're well suited for that shield, Ewan." Davorin commented.

"I think so too." Ewan nodded.

"S-Senpai! Take a look at mine next." Georgia said, approaching nervously.

"Alright, let's see." Davorin replied.

He examined Georgia's Device and blinked in disbelief.

"What? You have this kind of skill, Georgia?" he asked, stunned.

"Eh? Is it really that good, Senpai?" Georgia asked, genuinely puzzled.

"Don't be so modest. These abilities will be vital in the future." Davorin said.

---

Weapon Type : Bow

User. : Georgia

Proficiency : Windmarker (Veteran Level)

Countless arrows fired through endless hours of discipline, morning to night. Georgia's skill, forged through sheer will and practice, has returned to her. Buffs received from mastery:

•After standing still for 3 seconds while aiming, the next shot gains +30% power.

•Can fire two arrows at once.

Trait:

• Breath of Discipline

Every arrow Georgia looses is the result of endless repetition. Her movements are precise not by instinct but by muscle memory shaped by discipline.

Trait Effects:

•Accuracy increases significantly when calm and focused.

•After 50 arrows are fired, the next shot is guaranteed to hit a vital point.

---

"Such a strong combination of buffs and traits. I'm relieved Georgia has a skillset this solid." Davorin thought.

"Now only that old man and Lena are left." he mumbled.

"Hey, old man, show us your Device." Davorin called out.

"Hah. I don't need to show anything to a brat like you." Garran snapped.

"Oh, come on. Don't drag this out." Davorin groaned.

"Not a chance, you little punk! Who do you think you are trying to order me around?" Garran shouted, turning away.

"It's fine, just let him be." Lena said gently.

"Fine. If something happens to that stubborn old man, I won't be responsible." Davorin grumbled.

"Oh right, Lena. May I see your Device?" he asked.

"Gladly." Lena replied with a smile.

---

Weapon Type : Crossbow

User : Lena Whitemore

Proficiency : Bolt Carrier (Advisory Level)

Lena has never used a crossbow before. Due to her low proficiency, she suffers these penalties:

•Accuracy: -50%

•Firing Power: -50%

Trait:

• Silent Reporter

As a journalist, Lena mastered the art of observation. She reads rooms, hears whispers, and catches subtle signs others miss.

Trait Effects:

•Can hear conversations from up to 3km away.

•Can sense inconsistencies between speech and body language, giving her a "gut feeling" about lies.

Note: Sometimes, lies and truth can be hard to distinguish.

---

"Nothing too impressive... except this trait. It might be useful later." Davorin thought.

"Alright then, after reviewing everyone's Devices, I can safely say our strengths are tied to the skills we had before arriving here." Davorin announced to the group.

"Hey, Davorin. What have you all been up to?" asked Dougal, approaching.

"Ah, Mr. Dougal! We were just talking about hunting strategy, hahaha," Davorin said with an awkward laugh.

"Well, carry on then. I won't meddle in your group's business." Dougal replied.

"In that case, we'll head out now." Davorin said.

"Actually, before you go, could you leave two people behind to help gather firewood and such? I planned to ask some of the other travelers, but they didn't seem... very friendly." Dougal requested.

"Sure, you can ask Lena and Garran." Davorin offered.

"Ah, thank you, Davorin." said Dougal with a nod.
