Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Ash vs Lucian (1)

Ash and Furina's next class was to learn how to use weapons. And this was of course one of his favorite subjects so far due to the fact that he could finally learn how to fight.

This way, he would be able to become stronger and be ready to face any challenge given by the Abyssal Realm.

After spending about 3 minutes moving, Ash and Furina finally stopped at a place that looked quite like an arena and was as big as a soccer field.

This place was also filled with many and only first-year students, and all of them were holding a single weapon - a sword.

That was only natural, after all, the weapon that Ash chose to master was the sword.

He could have chosen a bow, an axe, a spear, or many other weapons to master, but for some reason, Ash chose to use a sword.

How weird.

To be honest, he didn't know why either. The moment he looked at the weapons he could choose to learn, his eyes couldn't leave the sword. It was as if he was fascinated by it.

Was this what people called fate? But was this the right choice for him?

Who knew, he still had to try it first before he could come up with an answer for himself.

Whether Ash was suited to using a sword or not would be decided after today's class.

A moment later, when all the students had swords in their hands, a man with a bearded face, long hair that hadn't been combed, and a cigarette in his mouth slowly walked out of the break room.

Perhaps that was the lecturer who would be teaching this subject.

And in this world, Ash only knew one person who looked exactly like that.

That man's name was Albedo, and he was also a 4-star character in the game False Horizon.

As soon as Albedo appeared in front of the students, his first order was to force all of them to line up neatly, without any mess.

If even one student was not focused, they would definitely never be able to learn this subject again.

Naturally, 5 neat rows were created almost immediately.

It wasn't because they were afraid of the lecturer, but because they were afraid of not being able to learn this subject anymore. That was understandable, the sword was a very famous and popular weapon.

And this man was the only one who could teach swordsmanship to the first-year students.

So once someone was expelled from his class, they would no longer be able to learn swordsmanship, at least until the second year.

"Alright, loser! Focus!" The man shouted, although it was unnecessary since everyone had already focused their attention on him from the start.

No one dared to speak or move, which alone was enough to show how powerful he was.

"Alright, since today is the first day, I'll let you guys fight each other. And I'll sit outside and judge your skills one by one."

"Huh?" Just like in the game, everyone was surprised except for a few people like Ash, Furina, and Lucian.

Since he had played this stage before, he had already predicted that this would happen.

Not only did Albedo have a crazy appearance, but his decisions in teaching were insane and illogical as well.

Nevertheless, no matter how unreasonable they sounded, those decisions were completely wise and never caused harm to the students at all.

Only those who didn't know this would feel dissatisfied.

Although everyone still felt extremely confused and needed a proper explanation, they had no choice but to listen to what Albedo had just said.

Just like that, more than 30 matches took place, and most of them ended quickly, without anything too outstanding or worth watching.

Sitting in the stands and watching all the battles from the beginning, Ash couldn't help but feel a little sleepy because the battles that happened didn't have anything called tension.

And to make matters worse, Ash had been looking forward to seeing Furina in action, but unfortunately, her opponent was defeated in a flash…

Time passed by, and now, only he, two other students whose names Ash didn't bother to remember, and Lucian were left without a fight.

'Hmm? Wait. Something's not right.'

And by the time he realized that, his entire body froze as if he had completely turned into ice.

The situation couldn't possibly get any worse. It was so bad that Ash didn't even dare to imagine what would happen next because he had already predicted the outcome.

The odds of him facing Lucian in the final battle were 1 in 3, but thanks to his Unlucky and Useless Ability, that odds had now become 1 in 1.

Which meant that Ash would be forced to fight Lucian, and the result? Haha, wasn't that obvious?

Of course he would be defeated miserably, becoming the laughing stock of everyone for losing to a D-class student.

'Fuck…fuck…fuck…fuck!' Ash gritted his teeth, hoping that none of that would happen even though he knew it was nearly impossible.

"Oh, we're only four? Time sure flies."

Every word that Instructor Albedo uttered sounded like a whisper from hell to him.

Time seemed to slow down, one second had become a century before he knew it.

Ash clenched his fists, praying that some miracle would happen and he wouldn't have to fight Lucian.

Unfortunately, all he got in return was a hearty "Fuck" from the gods above.

"Alright, Lucian will fight Ash, and the other two will fight each other, is that okay?"

As soon as those words were uttered, his heart stopped, but the entire audience seemed to explode.

Everyone seemed excited, but on the contrary, they did not expect a fierce battle to happen.

Instead, they wanted to see who would win between The Useless Prince and a guy from Class D.

It could be said that this was no different from a battle between losers.

Why? Just why? There were clearly more than 50 people here, right? So why did Ash have to fight the worst?

Could it be that his luck had really hit rock bottom?
