THE DEVIL'S BRIDE
Episode 57: The Crown Below
By Rapwizzy Debaron
The aftermath of the throne's destruction echoed through the Nine Realms.
Peace had not yet arrived—but war had paused.
Evelyn stood amidst the ruin of obsidian stone, the remnants of the First King's cursed seat glowing faintly beneath her feet. Her hand still tingled from the fire she summoned, not one of hell—but of healing. Her power was no longer dormant.
Lucien reached for her.
"You're glowing," he murmured.
She turned to him, unsure whether to smile or cry. "So is the world."
But far beneath them, where time did not touch, something ancient was watching.
---
In the Void Below
She rose from the shadows like smoke rising from ash.
Tall, graceful, terrible—draped in veils of shadow and bone.
Her crown was darker than night, forged from screams that had never been heard, resting lightly on her head like death itself.
"Evelyn," she said, tasting the name like poison on her tongue. "The girl who shattered the throne…"
Her voice echoed through the prison void.
"…and opened the door for me."
With one step forward, the Queen Below placed her foot into the first crack Evelyn's light had made in the ancient seal.
And it spread.
---
Meanwhile, in the Mortal Realm
Kael and Seraphhina stood guard beside the healing pool in the Hollow Forest. The waters had turned golden since Evelyn's fire touched the throne.
"The barrier's trembling," Seraphhina whispered.
Kael nodded. "Something's crawling through the cracks."
Just then, the trees bent unnaturally as the wind whispered a name neither had spoken in centuries.
"Lilora."
Seraphhina went pale. "She's supposed to be gone… sealed forever beneath the Deep Crown."
Kael unsheathed both blades. "Evelyn freed more than just us."
---
Back in the Obsidian Wastes
The First King, now without crown or throne, approached Evelyn quietly. His voice was raw.
"She's coming. You've made her return possible."
"Who is she?" Evelyn asked.
His expression darkened. "The Queen of the Void. My wife. The first Bride... before the curse ever reached me."
Lucien's jaw clenched. "You had another bride?"
"I had a queen," the First King whispered. "And I buried her beneath the throne when she tried to enslave the realms."
Evelyn's heart thudded.
"You didn't just destroy my curse," the King continued. "You woke my greatest sin."
---
The skies rippled again. Clouds bled ink. Stars blinked out.
From the crack in the realms, black fire seeped into the world.
And through it…
Lilora stepped forth.
Beautiful. Untouched by time. Eyes like twin eclipses.
She smiled as she gazed upon Evelyn.
"My crown was never broken, girl," she whispered. "You merely cleared my path."
---
To be continued…
🔥 The Queen Below has risen… and Evelyn isn't the only bride anymore.
