THE DEVIL'S BRIDE
Episode 62: Seraphhina's Echo
By Rapwizzy Debaron
Deep within the mountain's heart, where time twisted and shadows whispered secrets older than the gods, Evelyn stood before the sealed gate—one only Seraphhina's blood could open.
Lucien hovered behind her, silent. Even he dared not speak here.
The stone door pulsed, ancient runes glowing red as Evelyn placed her hand on its surface.
Boom.
The mountains groaned. The gate trembled.
Then…
It opened.
---
The Chamber of Flames
Inside was a world untouched by time.
Floating above an obsidian altar burned the Crown of Ashes—Seraphhina's last gift, her legacy forged from war, love, and betrayal.
But beneath it, her bones rested. Wrapped in dark velvet. Untouched, unbroken.
Evelyn stepped forward.
"Mother…"
The flames didn't burn her. They danced for her.
And then—her eyes rolled back, and a voice filled her mind.
"Do not become me, child. Be better."
---
The Spy in the Camp
Back in the war camp, one of the new recruits—eyes too sharp, smile too sweet—snuck into the command tent. He slipped a small, rune-etched vial beneath Evelyn's cloak.
Unseen. Unheard.
Lilora's spell had begun.

Lucien's Confession
As Evelyn emerged from the chamber, glowing with the mark of fire, Lucien caught her hand.
"There's something I must tell you," he said, his voice hoarse.
She raised an eyebrow. "You're not dying, are you?"
"No," he whispered. "But I did once choose not to save your mother. I stood by. I watched her fall."
A long silence stretched between them.
"I know," Evelyn said, not surprised. "And I forgave you the moment I chose you."
His heart cracked open. "Why?"
"Because love isn't about forgetting… it's about choosing who we burn for."

Lilora's Curse Begins
That night, Evelyn coughed once. Then again.
Her skin felt… wrong.
Lucien noticed her aura flickering. Dimming.
"Evelyn?"
She tried to speak but stumbled.
From within her bloodstream, the curse began to spread like ink in water.
