Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: Arkham asylum

Catwoman's usual moves, which always worked, lost their effect on Connors. But Selina Kyle responded quickly, grabbing the back of Connors's head with claw-shaped hands.

This grip was strong enough to lift a skull, but she had no killing intent; she just wanted to change tactics and knock him out.

"Tsk, you're really like a kitten, loving to scratch people." Selina's wrists were firmly grasped by two hands, and then Connors exerted force with his arms, pulling her off his body and throwing her aside.

He wanted to check with Catwoman to see if she had ever met Poison Ivy or Killer Croc. Coming to see Catwoman was partly to gather gossip, and partly to find out about the only two prisoners who escaped from Arkham Asylum and hadn't caused any trouble.

But after Catwoman was thrown, her body twisted lightly in the air. After landing on the rooftop, she turned and tried to run. Connors was well prepared.

He held up a piece of jewelry in his hand that he had taken from Catwoman using a trick: "If you run away, you'll never see this thing again."

A look of pain flashed across Selina's face, and she said, "It doesn't matter. There are so many jewelry stores in Gotham." Having said that, Selina put one hand on her waist, and immediately pulled out the item hidden in her belt, throwing it toward Connors.

A long whip!

She couldn't understand why she, the most skilled thief in Gotham, had her jewelry stolen right in front of her by this man.

But it didn't matter. With the whip in hand, her fighting power increased exponentially. She believed that no matter how powerful this person was, he wouldn't be able to cope with her whip.

However, what happened next once again left Catwoman confused. It was obvious that the whip originated from the hand holding the jewel, but no matter how hard she tried, the whip, which used to hit wherever she pointed, seemed to no longer be obedient and kept hitting the ground.

Bang, bang, bang — Connors was unharmed, but the ground next to him was crackling from the beatings.

"What did you do?" Selina's voice was soft and sticky, completely inconsistent with her fighting style and agile posture.

"Just a little sleight of hand," Connors said with a smile.

Catwoman was anxious and angry, so she simply didn't aim at Connors's hand, but instead rounded the whip and swept it horizontally. Since it's a trick, I might as well not aim! Catwoman thought inwardly, a little annoyed.

Faced with this sweeping whip, Connors's sleight of hand was truly powerless, so he simply used his speed and took large strides to approach Selina. When Catwoman realized something was wrong and tried to escape, she could no longer.

The long whip, used for fighting, now became a restraint, tying her up, with the other end firmly held in Connors's hand.

Leather jacket, whip, blindfold, outdoors — Connors looked at the scene in front of him with a strong sense of déjà vu, pushing aside the unhealthy thoughts in his mind, and said to Selina seriously, "Please bear with it for a while. I'm afraid you will run away again once I untie you. I want to ask you something: you seem to be active at night. Have you seen Killer Croc and Poison Ivy?"

"It's a man who looks like a crocodile, and the other one, uh—should be very beautiful, maybe wearing green clothes, a woman who can control plants." Seeing that Catwoman, with her hands tied behind her back, refused to speak, Connors shook the whip in his hand very smoothly.

"Hmm," Catwoman snorted.

"?" Connors felt something was wrong and shook the whip twice more.

[Today's juicy gossip: Selina's Windows]

[Submit?]

As Catwoman snorted, the Gossip System provided Connors with the answer in a timely manner. Connors suddenly realized.

___________

Standing in front of a manhole cover on a Gotham street, Connors made up his mind several times, but he couldn't bring himself to enter such a place.

Mainly, when he was sitting in the car heading toward Gotham Forest earlier, he had witnessed someone squatting over a drain and defecating on the side of the road.

Catwoman was just a fledgling thief in this world and knew nothing about Killer Croc and Poison Ivy.

Connors didn't press her with any more questions and simply let her go. Standing in front of the manhole cover, Connors gave himself one last pep talk.

He couldn't find Poison Ivy, so he could only try his luck in the sewer. He lifted the manhole cover.

"It stinks so damn much—" Connors's earlier encouragement collapsed in the face of the sewer's stench, and he turned and left.

The smell gave him inspiration. Since he wanted to push the development of the "Laughing Man" incident, and since Killer Croc and Poison Ivy couldn't be found, he still had a place to go.

Arkham Asylum! After the prisoners escaped from Arkham, Batman used Wayne Enterprises and completed the construction of part of the prison in the name of Gotham's first family as quickly as possible.

The villains captured later were still sent there. Instead of running around looking for Killer Croc and Poison Ivy, it would be better to just go to Arkham and confront the Joker face-to-face.

Then, the problem arose again. Where was Arkham Asylum? Theoretically, he could get the answer to this question by asking anyone on the streets of Gotham City.

But it was midnight now, and only the occasional vehicle rushing to and fro could be seen on the street, with no pedestrians at all.

Between the "Ghost Face Bar" and the "Andrew Hotel," Connors chose the latter without much hesitation.

So, without a supercar, he took a taxi again and came to the hotel where Seol Hee was staying. Seol Hee was a foreigner and, of course, didn't know where Arkham Asylum in Gotham was, but there were people, mobile phones, and the Internet there, so Connors could get the answer easily.

Seol Hee naturally welcomed Connors's arrival. Half an hour later, he calmly and confidently drove out of the underground parking lot in the muscle car Seol Hee gave him.

Arkham Asylum, a place that combined a prison, hospital, and mental institution in Gotham City, was naturally not located in the city, but in the deep suburbs of Gotham.

The Gothic clock tower could be seen from a long distance. The dim yellow light from the huge clock provided no illumination, instead looking extremely eerie.

There was a searchlight every few meters on the wall, and a sentry post every fifty meters, with searchlights illuminating every piece of darkness at all times.

The moon in Gotham looked obviously bigger. Connors looked up at the huge moon in the sky and the insane asylum that looked like a haunted house under the moonlight.

He used some tricks to pass through the heavy guards and came to the prison where the prisoners were held and found an empty cage.

Then he locked himself in.
