Chapter 9 - Magic Is REAL!

A/N : How are you guys doing, it's been a while since i released a chapter for this book, which considering i had to go to a camping trip for seven days, which sleeping wasn't a pain but considering i had to wake up at 4 am or less (which fun fact during one night someone left their phone alarm setting to 1 am so i couldn't sleep since i don't know where the person phone is) and then sleep at 11 pm , which it was good considering the cold wind of the mountain helped, which during one of the days it was tiring, since it was basically a competition, which includes a military style mud crawl, and walking from and to from the sleeping area to the main area (which the distance iwas around 500-700 m with you having to climb up not to mention other areas)was pretty breath taking, and my arms and legs are sore, there was connection thankfully, but it took sometimes to sent messages or contact anyone and was pretty hard to open webnovel in some form (which i only was able to release chapter that i had prepared not write any), since there were at least 1.300 people..... Yeah it was fun but i don't really missed it, especially since i barely eat meat and only ate veggies ,to the point i lost some weight and my family members noticing it, which after the camp ended,i ate at a Luxurious Chinese restaurant with my family, which God it was heaven eating meat after not eating eat for a week straight, and fun fact actually you had to pay to charge your phone around a dollar, which i had to minimise the usage of my phone to conserve battery also-

[ENOUGH WITH THE YAPPING,JUST GET TO THE F#CKING CHAPTER]

(-_-')

Ok Let's start the chapter.

_________________________________________

You know, in life there are things that just don't make sense, and things that make sense. But for some reason i always face the former like how I once scored 100% on a test using eenie-meenie-miney-moe, or how Bitter Melon is healthy even though it tastes like punishment from hell. Or how some people win the lottery while others can't even win in Uno, another thing some people usually would have a great day but suddenly they face a horrible event.

But today waking up has to be the most ridiculous and most questionable thing,as well horrifying.Which to describe this is a whole new level of ridiculousness

Because right now, in the middle of Dusk, in my grandparents' guest room…

I'm currently being haunted

I repeat

I'm currently being haunted

Which I'm not possessed thankfully, which the

Ghost is possessing the objects in my room. The lamp, the books, my tiny suitcase, my socks are all levitating gently like we're filming the climax of a horror movie, which for a moment i thought i was going to get dragged like in Paranormal

Which considering the fact I am currently on my bed, clutching my blanket like a holy shield, and whispering prayers so fast you'd think I was auctioning something off on live TV.

"In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spi—I cast thee out, demon ghost! I mean—Our Father who art in heaven—oh no not the lamp—deliver us from EVIL AMEN AMEN AMEN—!"

Which i soon ducked, when a book nearly hit me, which i soon tried doing the sign of the cross but I was shaking so bad I might've just invented a new symbol.

The worst part?

It's not even scary in a horror-movie way. It's more like calmly defiant.

Like the floating book on my desk is just… judging me. (I'm already insane as you probably noticed)

Meanwhile soon a chill ran down my spine. I'm not even sure if it's cold or existential dread.

I jumped up and tried to pull the blanket over my head, praying harder.

"Holy Mary, Mother of God, please protect one of your children for you are-"

I soon ducked when someone thrown another book towards me

Suddenly, everything stopped.

The lamp dropped gently back on the table. The socks fell to the floor. The floating book snapped shut with a quiet thud.

...The silence was somehow worse. Since you don't know what will happen next, which i soon peeked out from under my blanket.

Nothing.

No floating objects. No chanting. No demonic symbols glowing on the walls (thank God).

Just a very spooked five-year-old boy sitting on a bed, clutching a Bible like a teddy bear.

"O-Okay," I whispered to no one, "This is fine. This is totally fine. I'm fine. Everything's fine."

Cue awkward laugh and eye twitch.

I wasn't sure whether to scream, cry, or sprint downstairs yelling "Mommy!" like I was in a movie.

But one thing was clear:Something was happening. Something weird. And it was happening to me.

Which we need to call someone

Which who do you call if you have a ghost problem the Ghostbusters, which sadly they're not real.

---

You know when people say, "Lightning doesn't strike twice?"

Yeah. They clearly never lived my life.

Because right after everything floated down and I was this close to calming down…

I stepped off the bed.

And the moment my little foot touched the floor—

WOOOOOOOOSH!!

The bookshelf shuddered, the lightbulb flickered like a horror movie jump scare, and suddenly—again—my suitcase levitated like it was about to go on vacation without me.

And that's when it happened.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Meanwhile outside soon the sound of lightning was heard with the sound of a giant rainstorm appearing. (Which later thinking about it was too coincidental)

For the first time in my entire five years of existence, I screamed like a banshee being chased by a vacuum cleaner.

Not a cute little "eek."

No.It was a full-volume, possessed-monk-meets-kindergarten-panic-mode scream that could probably be heard in another dimension.

And that's when I did the only thing that made sense.

I ripped open the Bible, flipped through pages like a maniac, and started reading verses out loud at random. My voice was trembling, fast, and so panicked I'm not even sure if I was quoting the Gospel or mixing it with Pokémon moves.

"The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want, Deliver us from evil, which so thou shall not pass—wait, wrong one—FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD—AAAH!"

Which I soon backed up onto the bed, holding the Bible in front of me like a holy shield, which theoretically it could work since the bible is blessed. Which soon i continue praying

"STOP! IN THE NAME OF JESUS! THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU! THE POWER OF CHRIST—wait is that my toothbrush floating??"

My toothbrush gently spun in the air....

Yeah I'm so done...

Meanwhile i continue shaking. Absolutely convinced my room is either:

1. Haunted

2. There's a demon pranking me

3. Im dreaming or hallucinating

But one thing clear,i Was going to need diapers for the first time since I was two.

Then suddenly—as fast as it started—everything dropped again.

A heavy, awkward silence filled the room.

Not even a whisper.

I stood there, panting, clutching my Bible like it was the only thing keeping me tethered to sanity.

"Okay. That's it. I'm telling Mom and dad,and my grandparents." Which i soon took a deep breath, which i had my hands on my mouth, like an airbag

I didn't know what was happening, or why, but one thing was certain:

I want to faint,i want My Mommy And either I was being haunted, tested, or worse…

Devils are attacking me.

---

After what felt like the longest five minutes of my life—Bible in one hand, sanity dangling by a thread—I finally calmed down.

Kinda. The room was quiet again. Everything had fallen back into place. No floating chairs. No flickering lights. No airborne toothbrush taunting me.

So I did what any normal, curious, extremely stupid five-year-old in a horror movie situation would do.

I… tested it.

Slowly, I edged my leg off the bed like it was a landmine. My toes hovered above the floor.

"Okay... nice and slow..."

Tap.

The moment my foot touched the floor—

WHOOSH!

Everything around me floated again. "AAAHHHHHH"

The books.

The suitcase.

The lamp.

Even the blanket folded itself like it was trying out for a haunted house gig.

"...oh God." I blinked, wide-eyed.

I soon yanked my foot back up.

BAM. Everything dropped again.

Silence.

I stared down at the hardwood like it had just insulted my family.

"...Nope. Nope nope nope—" i soon immediately run to the corner of my bed that's against the wall, which i soon had grabbed the cross, Which I had to be sure so that the ghost or the spirits won't get close. Which for the fire time I'm super scared, shaking, which me a person who is mentally 30+ was now acting as a scared child once more

---

Meanwhile, Outside the Room…

Unbeknownst to little me, who was sweating buckets in my room and preparing to do an exorcism on myself, a certain man was crouched just below the window… trying not to laugh too hard.

[A/N : Not gonna lie ,i would love to actually do this to my siblings, making them scream, and scaring them.... Yeah I'm definitely a jerk]

Michael's dad — with him crouching , eyes gleaming with mischief — was muttering under his breath and watching the effects play out like a magician at his first comedy show.

Which he was chuckling to himself proudly like he'd just passed a sacred rite of fatherhood.

That was until—

"BAM"

A pan cracked across the back of his head like a divine smite from Heaven itself.

> "Ow—!" Which luckily the force use wasn't that hard, since Michael Dad would have been KBAAW (Killed By An Angry Wife)

Which His wife, was standing over him with the force of maternal justice, crossed her arms.

"Seriously?! You scared him half to death!"

"It's—ow—it's tradition! My dad did it to me when I was a kid!"

"Yeah? So you want to traumatized our child "

"...T-That's..... Good point, I'm an idiot"

Just then, Michael's grandfather stepped outside holding a mug of tea, perfectly calm.

He sipped the tea like he'd just witnessed this exact event unfold 30 years ago.

"You know i expected you not to do that you know"

What Michael's dad, now rubbing his head and looking up , muttered:

> "Yeah, yeah… i kinda went too far..."

"Don't mention it. By the way… I approve of her more every day," he said, pointing to his daughter-in-law.

"...Of course you do."

They all turned to look toward the upstairs window, where a faint voice could be heard through the closed glass.

Meanwhile mom soon sighed.

"I'm going to talk to him before he becomes fully traumatized "

"Let me get ice first for myself" the dad groaned. Which he comment " did you add a spell or something, since my head is spinning and echoing "

"Maybe,"

---

Later

After the chaos had finally settled, and the "exorcism attempts" had slowed down to a whisper, the door to Michael's room creaked open gently.

_____

I was still clutching the Bible like a life preserver in a storm. The moment I saw the door move, I tensed—

"M-Mom?!"

She stepped in slowly, a soft smile on her face, holding a cup of warm milk in one hand and a blanket in the other.

Which i had a blanket on me, but i don't mind having more blanket considering I'm now scared.

Meanwhile my mom soon answered

"Yes, sweetheart. It's just me."

She sat down beside me on the bed, placing the milk on the nightstand and the blanket over my shoulders, which now means i have 2 blankets covering me.

"You okay?"

"... M...M...Momm. my... Room..... Was..."

I gave her the look of a soldier who has gotten PTSD after combat and saw his friends get killed by an IED

She couldn't help but chuckle softly as she ran her fingers through my hair.

"I know. And I'm sorry. Your dad was being… your dad, which i had punished him for his antics."

.... Wait what ?

"Wait… you mean… it wasn't a ghost?"

"No, honey. No ghosts. It was magic. "

... What.....? (My Brain froze for a moment)

I stared at her, confused and wide-eyed.

"But… I thought magic wasn't… y'know… real real."

Wait is the world I'm in a magic type world if so am i an anime world type or a different type.

Meanwhile mom nodded gently.

"Most people don't know it actually existed. It's… hidden. But our family—especially on your father's side—comes from a long line of magic users actually Michael"

... wait so magic do exist which the fact my dad has magic means i have magic, Which the fact lineage is important in fantasy world particularly magic.

Wait a second..

"So… the floating stuff… was dad pranking me ?"

Which mom nodded while sighing

"Yes he did and he did to excessively which i had Bash him with a pan"

Damn... That's gotta hurt, but considering he traumatized me

"…I'm gonna hit him with magic later"

She laughed again, pulling me into a warm hug.

"You get that from my side of the family."

I leaned into the hug, still processing everything. My heart was still beating fast, but it was no longer fear — it was something else. A strange excitement… like a door had just opened.

Meanwhile soon I ask again

"So… I'm really gonna learn magic?"

"Yes. And swordsmanship. When you're a little older as your grandpa said"

Oh yeah he did mention that, which that mean I can train to be basically a Magic knight, which i like that, since I usually prefer to know multiple things instead on a single thing

"...Cool."

She kissed my forehead.

"Now try to sleep, okay? No more floating tonight."

I was about to said I'm not sleepy anymore .but considering it was still dusk, and also the fact that when i was about to say about it,my mom shot it downme with a sweet and gentle *looking smile( aka the punishment smile if you don't listen to mommy, I'll have to punish you later)

"Good,ok then" which mom soon kissed me on the forehead again and left the room

As the door closed gently, I looked back down at the Bible I'd been gripping.

"...Well… that was awkward"

You know considering the fact i found out that magic exist through being scared by my dad, which im definitely getting my revenge later as soon as possible.

But I soon laid back, staring at the ceiling with a faint grin, and close my eyes considering as a 5 year old i sleep a lot and i don't want mom to punish me for the first time, which see ya in a few hours or basically the next chapter in my current life if I'm living in a novel.
