But Lu Fan kept his head down, attending class as usual, quietly finishing his assignments, and smiling faintly at Jia Wei's concerned glances.
Then, between periods, the halls parted.

The air went still.

Xie shook his head. "No, you're not. I couldn't sense your realm, and your techniques… they were perfect. I know strength when I see it. You don't need to teach me everything. Just let me follow. I want to grow the right way."
Lu Fan looked into his former rival's eyes — and saw sincerity.
"Fine," he said after a pause. "But I don't want people knowing what I am. If you want to walk this path with me, then you walk in silence."
Xie Ren grinned. "As you wish… Master."
Lu Fan sighed. So much for staying low-key…
But something in his heart felt lighter.
