Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

We had been walking for two days in an attempt to get as far away as possible from where we were. During this time, it was difficult to find food and water, so in order not to starve, we used to hunt animals or creatures. Once we caught a wild boar and lived off it for a day before it quickly ran out.

While searching for food, we came across some slimy creatures called slimes. When I lived in my village, I had never seen one, so it was a surprise to encounter such a sticky and dangerous thing. The others told me that slimes feed on living things and that touching them could melt my fingers, so I avoided touching them or getting too close. They also told me that they are dangerous because they always grow when they eat and would become dangerous, so we took care to crush or cut up all the ones we found.

On the second day we escaped, we saw a village in the distance. I wanted to go because there were people there who were different from those on the farm, but they stopped me again because they told me that the nearby villages were always allied with the traffickers and that they killed those they didn't know. Ghislaine said that before escaping, he had been taken to do a job in a village like this one, and he warned me to always be on my guard. However, that didn't help, as we didn't go near it and decided to keep our distance.

It had been four days since we escaped, and now we were just walking and hunting any animal we considered "edible," although most of them seemed edible to me. We couldn't trust them, so we only hunted animals we already knew. When night fell, it started to rain, so we ran to find a place to sleep. We were surprised to see in the distance a creature that looked like a small human entering a cave.

"That thing could be a goblin. If it went into that place, then that's its lair. Let's go there. Those things are weak, so we can take over that cave," said Oswin, whom I remembered as being very well-read, so I wasn't surprised that he knew that.

Upon hearing Oswin, everyone drew their weapons, and with the mages behind us, we entered the cave. Inside, everything was dark, but thanks to the fire the mages could create, we were able to illuminate our path and go deeper. After walking for a while, we were surprised to see a group of goblins in the distance, some holding thick wooden sticks and others with torches.

"Be quiet, we'll attack them by surprise," whispered Ghislaine, who was already giving instructions to form a circle around the group of goblins.

"Be careful, Conan, even though they look weak, they have the strength of an adult," said Della, a girl with green hair and one of the magicians who was with us, as she held my shoulder.

"Okay, I'll be careful," I said, nodding and preparing to attack.

"Now, let's go!" Ghislaine shouted, lunging at a goblin and cutting it in half with a single swing of her sword.

The rest of us did the same instantly, running towards them and cutting them down or, in the case of the magicians, throwing fireballs or sharp stones at them. At one point, I got behind one and cut off its head. As I killed it, I could feel something behind me, and as I dodged it, I saw another goblin hitting the spot where I had been standing with one of the wooden sticks they had. Although I was a little scared at the thought that it had almost hit me, I calmed down and plunged my sword into its head the moment I stood firm, ending its life.

"It looks like it won't take us long to finish off these things," I thought to myself, helping the others to kill the remaining monsters, which had formed a circle and were protecting each other. "It's just like when we fought in that place," I said, surprised to see how they were acting just like us.

"Get out of the way!" shouted an Oswin, who was preparing a huge fireball with the help of the other magicians and was getting ready to shoot it at the group of goblins.

As soon as I saw him, I moved from where I was, jumping before I saw the fireball hit the creatures. When the attack hit the ground, it caused a huge explosion that made me cover my ears because of the loud noise it made, and it also caused a lot of green blood to splash, which ended up staining my clothes.

"That's it," Oswin said with a smile on his face as he gave us a thumbs up. All of his black hair was covered in green blood that had splattered on him after the explosion.

"Wasn't there a less explosive way to kill them?" shouted Anna, who had dirt all over her face and goblin blood in her hair.

"It was the best way to kill them all at once," said Oswin, who looked around and saw us all glaring at him angrily, surprised by his attack.

"But that might attract more creatures," said Ghislaine, shaking her blonde hair in an attempt to clean off the dirt.

"Although it's not even blonde anymore," I thought as I laughed at how dirty everyone had gotten.

Everyone turned and saw me laughing at them, which only seemed to anger them more, so I stopped laughing in an attempt not to provoke them further, at least for now.

"Everyone, split up and search this place. Goblin burrows usually have food and water, so find them, and the rest of you stay at the entrance. I don't want to be eaten by something thanks to Oswin's fireball," Ghislaine ordered us, still trying to clean her hair.
