Chapter 44 - A mysterious tycoon magician

Armor is a very common piece of equipment in this magical world.

A decent swordsman must have a decent set of armor. "You don't even have an armor and still claim to be a swordsman" is definitely one of the most hurtful words in the world.

Even Debbie has a set of armor, the soft one she wore when facing Kerry, which is similar to the one in COSPLAY.

Stephen is a magician and doesn't need armor. If he had suggested to Debbie that he wanted to buy armor, she surely wouldn't have agreed. Fortunately, Stephen got two hundred gold coins from the Buska Space Ring. Here, we have to thank Buska for her generous gift.

Armor is an essential item for swordsmen in this world. Of course, the grades vary. For instance, the red armor worn by Gutmu is a high-end item. It is perfect for showing off, being cool and fighting. Made of galvanized iron, it is worth at least fifty gold coins.

The armor that Stephen is going to buy surely can't be cheap, because the quality of the armor also determines the number of demons it can possess.

The materials for making armor, apart from soft armor, mainly include black iron, white iron, brass, cold steel, purple steel, silver, gold, etc. Among them, black iron is the material of the lowest quality and is the most commonly used. The suit of armor that Stephen found in the small black room back then was made of black iron.

Debbie's huge sword was also made of black iron, but it was mixed with some cold steel, making the texture of the black iron even harder.

Due to the different materials, the prices naturally vary.

Stephen has also inquired about the market price of the armor these days. He estimates that two hundred gold coins will be enough to buy a fine piece of armor.

In the Stardust Avenue, there is a weapons shop called Bellon.

Stephen entered the weapons store just before it closed.

Sir, may I ask what you want to buy? The waiter in the weapons shop was rather listless and lacked enthusiasm for the guests who came late at night. He squinted his eyes to look at the visitor: Stephen was wearing a black magic robe and a hood on his head, which made his entire body hidden in the darkness and his exact appearance could not be seen.

After leaving Anthony's magic hut, Stephen has always been in this look. He doesn't seem to be associated with the Steel Swordsman.

He glanced at the weapons store, which was still brightly lit at night, and deliberately said in a hoarse voice, "I want to buy a suit of armor."

"Armor?" The waiter was somewhat puzzled. Judging from Stephen's outfit, he must be a magician. What kind of armor does a magician need? But he was thinking of getting off work and going home as soon as possible, so he had no mood to say much to Stephen. He pointed to the shelf beside him and said, "Sir, that's where the armors are sold. Please go and pick them yourself."

After saying that, he yawned heavily.

Stephen nodded and walked to the shelves over there, his eyes sweeping over the row of all kinds of armors.

A proper suit of armor is capable of covering the entire body, including the helmet, breastplate, shoulder armor, arm guards, wrist guards, gloves, waist guards, crotch guards, leg guards, knee guards, long boots, and weapons, etc.

Stephen sized up these armors and found that they were divided into two categories: one was enchanted and the other was not.

Armors that have been enchanted are generally twice as expensive as those that haven't. After all, enchanted artists are hard to find. There are no more than ten enchanted artists in the entire city of Stan, and those who can enchanted armors with guaranteed quality are no more than five.

The armor that Stephen was going to choose naturally didn't need to be enchanted, which would be much cheaper. The best quality unenchanted armor in this weapon shop was a cold-steel armor, worth 150 gold coins. However, cold-steel was very heavy, and this armor weighed over 80 pounds. Stephen thought about it and realized that if he wore this armor, he would probably be able to do nothing but stand and pose...

So he had to settle for second best and chose a white iron armor worth eighty gold coins.

The material of this armor is mixed with some brass, giving the entire suit a dark red with a hint of gold. Its shape is simple and unassuming, yet it perfectly matches the low-key, luxurious and profound style, which is exactly to Stephen's taste. The armor is of moderate size and weighs only thirteen pounds, which is just enough for Stephen's build to bear.

Meanwhile, this armor has a strong ability to withstand enchantment and fully meets Stephen's requirements.

"I'll take this one!"

Stephen made up his mind immediately.

Have you made your choice already? The waiter yawned and asked when he saw Stephen turn back to the counter.

I want that suit of armor. Stephen pointed at his choice.

"Huh?"

The waiter's spirits lifted a little. He had originally thought that the armor Stephen had bought would at most be the kind of soft armor worth a few dozen silver coins. After all, apart from the rare magic swordsmen, few mages would be interested in armor. So he didn't expect that Stephen had chosen a precious armor worth eighty gold coins.

His attitude immediately became much more enthusiastic: "Sir, should I pay in cash or with a gold card?"

"... Gold coin card.

A brass card appeared in Stephen's hand. When he placed the gold card on the counter, Stephen couldn't help thinking: Oh my god, could it still be paid by card here? So high-end! If it weren't for my own psychological endurance, the values of an ordinary time traveler would be shattered to pieces...

Then Stephen broke out in a sweat right after that

After the waiter took Stephen's gold coin card, he made a slight sense and confirmed that the deposit amount inside was one hundred gold coins. Then, he quickly took out twenty gold coins from under the counter and handed them to Stephen, saying, "Sir, the armor costs eighty gold coins. I'll take your one hundred gold coin card. Here are the twenty gold coins for you."

Stephen: "..."

Well, he's overthinking things like paying by card.

"Sir, shall I have someone take your armor back to your residence?" The waiter continued to ask with a beaming smile.

"No need."

Stephen knew that the deal was already completed. He walked up to that suit of armor, with a movement of his hand, the armor on the shelf vanished and was taken into the space ring by him.

The waiter was probably no longer surprised by such scenes, so he wasn't overly astonished. Instead, he went on to say, "Sir, the armor you purchased is not enchanted. If you need to be enchanted, you can contact us at Bellong Weapons Store. We will help you get an enchanted artist and offer you an 80% discount."

Oh, a one-stop service... Stephen said sternly, "No need. I'll contact the sorcerer myself."

Saying this, Stephen walked out of the weapons store.

The waiter thought of something and wanted to call out to him: There was a rule at the weapons store that any customer who bought armor and weapons had to register their name. But because there had been no problem for a long time, this rule had become a mere formality. The waiter thought of his warm bed at home and eventually gave up this inquiry, which he thought was unnecessary.

He opened the transaction register, picked up a quill pen and wrote down the transaction record: a piece of cold iron armor, priced at eighty gold coins, and the buyer was a mysterious wealthy magician.

Thanks to the irresponsible attitude of the waiter, the magician who bought a suit of armor from Belron Weapons Store that night was surrounded by the words "mysterious" and "rich" for a long time after that...

...

From that night on, in Stephen's room in the backyard of Anthony's magic hut, rhythmic tapping sounds could often be heard: ding-li ding-li, ding-li ding-dong ding-dong...

Debbie spent a sum of money to hire some craftsmen to repair the crushed and collapsed south wall.

Those artisans were very curious about the knocking sounds coming from Stephen's room, but seeing the little sister brandishing a hundred-pound sword in the middle of the yard, they resolutely gave up the idea of going to take a look.

Ten days passed in the blink of an eye like this.

The south wall of the small courtyard has been renovated.

That morning, after Stephen and Debbie finished eating noodles, they set off for the Lord's Mansion.

The adventure in the ancient tomb is about to begin.
