Chapter 6 - The Pup

Koto POV

Boom!

After the smoke from the blast disappeared, I saw red eyes staring at me.

Frowning, I asked, "Not dead yet?"

In front of me was a wolf full of burnt fur. The wolf didn't look injured, instead, the paper bomb seemed to have only damaged its fur.

Growl

It growled at me as it narrowed its eyes, and moments later, it pounced once more. With quick reaction, I raised my right arm to block the bite, then took out a kunai from my pouch.

"Argh!" I groaned in pain.

When his sharp fangs finally made their way inside my arms, I bashed my kunai onto his eyes, making one eye blind and causing massive damage.

The wolf stumbled back and whimpered when I took out the kunai. Taking the opportunity, I dashed towards the beast, pulled out my sword, and swung it horizontally. However, with one eye glaring at me, the beast jumped backwards and began running out of the forest.

'Can't let that thing escape… More people could die from it.' I thought to myself.

I controlled my chakra and placed it on my feet, which helped me leap from tree to tree. Although I was using chakra to keep up with the wolf, the wolf's massive body, which was almost entirely made of muscle, made it harder for me to catch it.

In the end, it led me to a nearby cave. The cave wasn't big, it was the size of a medium house. After watching the wolf enter inside without noticing me, I quickly followed and saw it turn into a corner.

I hid behind a rock and quietly stalked the wolf, and then I saw it. Besides the giant wolf lay a pup no bigger than an 8-year-old child. It looked exactly like its father, but what was unique about the pup was that I could sense chakra from it.

'Chakra! That means that this pup can become a summon?' I thought to myself.

[Note: I know all living things have chakra in Naruto, but forget that. I forgot all about it when righting this ff, so we're just gonna make it so.]

Thinking about the prowess of the chakraless wolf, it made me think what it could become. With excitement, I watched the two for a few more minutes.

Loki POV

I sense him behind a rock, a ninja. After the fight with him, I made a conclusion that he wasn't a Jonin, but below it. From what I could tell, the other ninja who was with him was a Jonin, as he was far stronger than the ninja I fought with.

At first, it was just supposed to be finishing a mission, me dying, and him getting a reward. But after I took over this body, it made me want to experiment.

My experimental questions are as follows,

How strong are my avatars?

Since I can gain my avatar's experience, will it help me in a fight? Since I myself never fought before.

Will I feel pain in an avatar body?"

And after the fight, all have been answered. Like what the system said, my avatars are based on the ranking of the cards, and since this is only a silver card, it's considered "weak." For the second question, yes, I can gain the experience, but because of my original mind, it overlapped with the experience of the avatar, which made me make a few mistakes. And lastly, yes, I can feel the pain from my Avatar, but only from the ones I am in control of, since I couldn't feel the pain of the old lady from earlier.

The cave I am in currently is a cave I found randomly, and after placing the reward here (the pup), I began the story.

The story was supposed to be a generic one because it was only used to give this random ninja a reward. The story was about an old woman who had a son who was 24 years old and was a hunter. One day, the son hunted down a female wolf, and that female wolf was the mate of my avatar.

It was a story that was supposed to be told to the people in the village, but because I made the wounds too deep on the old woman, the story wasn't told, and so I had to improvise. I attacked earlier and made the ninja notice me.

Looking around, I spotted the pup playing with a leaf. I chuckled inside and opened up the stats for the pup,

[Name: Grey wolf pup

Age: 3 weeks

Height: 3'5

Sex: Male

Title: None

(Level: 0)

Potential: S+

Health: 3

Strength: 6

Energy (Chakra): 12

Speed: 5

Intelligence: 9

Equipment: None.]

Glancing at the potential, I sneered and looked at where the ninja was hiding, 'Lucky bastard. You're getting a free S+ potential for a summon.'

Shaking my head, I stood up and walked outside. I noticed that the ninja wasn't doing anything, so I'm assuming he's waiting till I come outside to kill me. And so I made his day by walking outside to go for a pee.

As expected, the ninja followed me and pulled out his sword as he said, "Sorry about this, but I can't let you live."

He suddenly disappeared and chopped off my head.

"Ahh!" I yelled

I held my neck and noticed that I now had a human arm. I'm guessing I came back to my creative form…

Looking at the now dead corpse of a wolf, I saw that the human was where my blind eye was.

"So he used my blind spot… As expected from a ninja." I said out loud.

I was now flying above him and watching what he was doing. To my surprise, he did not take the strong fur or the thick hide from the avatar, but instead he burned it. After a while, he dashed towards the village and changed his clothing, I'm guessing to hide the scent from the pup.

After the ninja took the pup, a prompt popped up in front of me.

[Congratulations on completing a story! Rewards will now be given.

You leveled up, +1! Your base stats have now increased.

Please pick one from the three cards.

Faster Flight (Bronze): This card allows you to have a faster flight in creative mode.

Deep Space (Silver): This card allows you to have a private space inside your mind. This can only be used in the materialized state.

Switch it up (Bronze): You can switch avatar cards into items. This can only be used on quest missions.]

Thinking about the rewards, I began breaking them down to their pros and cons to see which would be better.

Firstly, the flight card can be great, but only in certain situations. I'm already fast enough in creative mode, I don't need to be faster. But it could be a great help if I were moving through vast places.

Second card: Good, but not worth it as of now. I haven't even been in my materialized state, so I wouldn't know how useful this card would be. However, I can say that if I were to have a private space where I could train, that would be helpful.

And lastly, the switch it up card. Although I don't know what I would use it for, I have a feeling that it would be necessary in making a story. For example, I can make a "Legendary" item that I can tell people, and they'll have to find it. This could also cause a higher-level mission to pop up.

After thinking it through, I made my decision, I chose the third card.
