The Wraiths' Gambit

The storm outside worsened, thunder rolling low over the city as Eve's fingers moved swiftly over the holographic console. Data flooded in from multiple sources — encrypted chatter intercepted, suspicious network pings, and traces of coded transmissions buried deep beneath layers of cyber-traffic.
"Found them," Eve said, her voice cold but steady. "The Wraiths are already recruiting, pulling operatives from the remnants of Ghost Net — and they've got a new weapon. Something we haven't seen before."
Julian stepped closer, eyes narrowing at the screen. "What kind of weapon?"
Eve hesitated, then pointed to a series of schematics flashing across the display. "Energy disruptors — portable devices capable of disabling electronics within a wide radius. If they hit our comms or our drones, we'll be blind."
Reese slammed his fist on the table, frustration simmering beneath his calm facade. "Great. So now we're fighting ghosts with EMP bombs? What next, nuclear grenades?"
A brief smile flickered on Julian's lips. "Keep your trigger finger steady, Reese. We'll need it."
Suddenly, the comm device buzzed again. This time, a distorted voice crackled through the static.
"You think you can stop us?" the voice taunted. "We are the shadows in your light. We are the fracture in your system. We are the Wraiths. Prepare to fall."
The line went dead.
Eve's eyes burned with fierce determination. "They're making their move. We need intel fast — find their base, their leaders. We can't wait for them to hit first."
Julian nodded. "Get the team ready. Tonight, we hit back."

Outside, the city was a labyrinth of rain-slicked streets and flickering neon signs. Unknown to most, beneath the surface, the underground network of tunnels hummed with activity — Wraith operatives moving like ghosts, preparing their gambit.
A lone figure watched from a shadowed rooftop, eyes scanning the city below. The figure's face was obscured, but the cold glint in their eyes spoke volumes. The war had new players now — and the stakes had never been higher.
