183.Chapter 183 Sage's Grove, Stormfront's Hiding Place?
Meanwhile, Starlight wasn't idle either. By chance, she came to Stormfront's Room. Although she didn't know where Stormfront had gone, she knew she had to hurry. Soon, she spotted Stormfront's computer on a table.
Creeping over, Starlight carefully turned on the computer.
She entered the password several times, but it kept showing an error. Just then, she glanced at a photo frame nearby. Inside the frame was a photo of Stormfront and an old woman. They looked very close, with their heads leaning against each other, giving the feeling of a Mother and daughter.
Starlight then took apart the photo frame and found a person's name on the back of the photo: Adele.
Could it be this?
After putting the photo frame back together, Starlight re-entered the password. This time, she successfully logged in.
Not long after, she found correspondence emails between Stormfront and Sage's Grove on the computer. She carefully noted down the address and was about to click it open when Ashley Barrett's voice suddenly came from just outside the door.
"Okay, okay, I'll send Ms. Stormfront's computer over right away." Ashley Barrett held her phone and pushed open the door. She then scanned the Room and finally found Stormfront's computer on the table.
After she closed the door, Starlight, who was behind it, immediately let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, she reacted in time and was almost exposed.
However, what surprised her was that Stormfront hadn't been killed in the explosion as Hughie had said. At least from Ashley Barrett's conversation, she could tell that the other party should not be living here.
Could she be injured? Is that why it's inconvenient for her to show up? Starlight took a deep breath and then searched through the Room. She was very careful, returning everything she looked through to its original place. Unfortunately, she found nothing in the end.
Gently pulling open the door, Starlight only dared to walk out into the Corridor after confirming that no one was on either side.
...
Since the Stormfront Incident.
Hughie and the others were in good spirits, except for Billy, of course.
"Shit! That damn bastard, when his Mother gave birth to him, she must have put his head and ass on backward, so when he talks, he sprays out dog shit. No, a freak like him, how could he have a Mother? He's just a deformed Lab Mouse developed in a Vought Laboratory!"
Just as Hughie walked out of the Room, preparing to eat lunch, he heard Billy's cursing.
He pulled out a chair by the dining table and looked at the Spaghetti Bolognese on it. "He texted you back?"
*Bang!* Billy slammed his phone onto the dining table. Fortunately, he didn't have the money to buy the latest model and was still using an old Motorola. Putting everything else aside, the quality was quite good.
Billy said grumpily, "I shouldn't have believed his nonsense back then. What he says isn't even worth the toilet paper I use in the Restroom."
"What did he say?" Hughie asked curiously while slurping his noodles.
"That bastard Mr. Jervis said that Homelander is very dissatisfied with our operation, claiming that we caused the deaths of the two Supes Homelander sent over. Therefore, the cooperation is canceled, and as compensation, they are willing to pay us three thousand US Dollars." Billy was furious. He should have expected Homelander to go back on his word.
If only he had half of his trustworthiness... Forget it, if only he had half of Frenchie's trustworthiness, he wouldn't be eating with these guys right now.
"Actually, he's not wrong. You did cause the deaths of those two Supes," Hughie picked up his cup of water and drank a few sips.
"That just means they had bad luck and happened to run into that bitch Stormfront. What does that have to do with me?"
Billy leaned back in his chair and pursed his lips. Frenchie, on the other side, picked up the beer from the table. "Alright, it was within our expectations that Homelander would go back on his word. Anyway, let's toast to Stormfront's death again!"
"Cheers!" Mentioning Stormfront slightly improved Billy's mood.
"Speaking of which, why hasn't Vought announced Stormfront's death yet? Are they just going to keep dragging it out like this? You know, the public opinion about Stormfront on the internet is quite significant right now. I don't believe Vought International can withstand such great pressure and keep dragging it out."
Hughie bent down and picked up a can of beer from the ground with The Deep's face printed on it.
"If it wants to drag it out, let it. Anyway, Stormfront is dead. In the end, they'll just have to hold a press conference and watch their stock price turn into a straight red line," Billy sneered.
*Beep beep!*
Just then, Hughie's phone rang. He took it out and saw it was Starlight.
"Hello, good afternoon."
"What?! Say that again?" Hughie's smile gradually faded. His expression became incredibly serious, his eyebrows almost squeezed together. After he hung up the phone, he looked like he had lost his soul, staring blankly at his dinner plate.
Mother's Milk, sitting next to him, couldn't help but ask, "What did Starlight tell you? Why do you look like you've lost your soul?"
Hughie pressed his lips together. "She... she said Stormfront isn't dead."
"Impossible!"
The firelight produced during the explosion that night could be seen clearly even several kilometers away. Under that kind of explosion, let alone human beings, even steel would be melted.
Immediately after, Billy questioned, "If she's not dead, why hasn't she appeared yet? Could it be a smoke bomb thrown out by Vought?"
Hughie shook his head.
"Starlight overheard it by chance, so it should be correct. And she also said that she found a mysterious location on Stormfront's computer called Sage's Grove. It's very likely Stormfront's hiding place."
"You guys eat first, I'm going out." Hughie got up and walked towards the Iron Door.
Watching his retreating figure, the atmosphere in the Basement gradually became heavy. The unwilling Mother's Milk forcefully crushed the beer can in his hand, while Frenchie looked towards Kimiko sitting across from him.
Kimiko's gaze changed from initial astonishment to fierceness. She used a hand gesture to tell Frenchie that even if Stormfront wasn't dead, they had to kill her again.
"We definitely will. But the most pressing matter at hand is finding Stormfront. I don't believe she wasn't injured after experiencing the explosion."
Frenchie's words reminded Billy.
"That's right, Stormfront is definitely injured, and very seriously. Otherwise, she would definitely have come out to prove she was fine. Not showing up for so long just happens to indicate that with her current appearance, it's not suitable for the Outside World to know. I speculate she might be disfigured, or disabled."
It must be said that Billy's speculation was very accurate, only one step away from the truth.
"Looking at it this way, that so-called Sage's Grove, we must go to that place." Even Mother's Milk was unwilling, let alone Billy, the instigator of the operation.
