(although this part is skippable reading it will provide a deeper understanding on how the insect works so give it a read)
Overview
The Grey Fly is a rumored entity or organism associated with the city of Greyman. Despite the lack of physical documentation, it is considered a cornerstone of local folklore, fear, and reverence. Descriptions vary, but nearly all accounts agree on one detail: It chooses.
Appearance
Color: Greyish-silver, almost metallic in sheen.
Texture: Smooth, not hairy, unlike common insects.
Unsettlingly aesthetic, even called "beautiful" by some witnesses an impression at odds with its ominous function.
Origin: Unknown.
Believed by some to be extradimensional or a byproduct of the Greyman system's metaphysical infrastructure.
Some cults claim it is a fragment of Philemon Vasiliki's soul, sealed in an insect.
Behavior & Function:
There are no confirmed sightings—only secondhand testimonies from those said to be "anointed."
The fly allegedly lands on the forehead of a chosen individual, then liquefies and forms a needle like shape, entering through the pupil as a black solid ink-like substance.
Both eyes turn completely black for approximately 6 seconds. And in those 6 seconds time stops in the real world ...or rather the world and it's contents stop, but things like wind, weather sunlight and sunset remain the same.
And in those 6 seconds the anointed is sent to a place that mirrors his soul, where they receive their blessing.
Upon returning to normal, the individual is considered "Gifted."
Known Gifts: (unconfirmed)
The following enhancements have been reported:
???
These powers, are referred to as "insights stitched into the soul." Seeing as how they mirror one's tendencies
The Price:
All recipients reportedly suffer one universal side-effect:
They experience no happiness in the final year of their life.
This includes emotional numbness, the death of loved ones, or existential despair. This period is dubbed "The Faded Year."
Although this is the main and universal price for all the anointed, some receive a secondary plague in addition to the faded year.
Reproduction & Weakness:
Unknown.
No specimen has been caught, examined, or proven to exist. the only proof is testimony and nothing else.
Some theories suggest there is only one Grey Fly in existence, and it is not bound by space or time. Though others highly doubt this theory.
