**1962, Springfield, Ohio**

"It's kind of like that," Eric said, nodding carefully. He wasn't ready to spill everything about their mission, not until he had a read on Bradley's stance.

Bradley stood abruptly, his face hardening. "Sorry, boys, but we're done here. Time to go."

"Mr. Bradley, just hear me out," Eric pressed, keeping his tone even.

"No dice. You wasted a trip," Bradley said, his voice cold as steel.

Eric exchanged a glance with Jake. No point pushing a dead end. They stood, ready to leave.

As they pushed open the creaky door, a hulking figure loomed outside—black trench coat, scruffy beard, and a grin that screamed trouble. Sabretooth.

"Well, that didn't go so hot, did it?" Sabretooth's voice dripped with menace, his broad frame blocking the doorway.

"Victor," Bradley muttered, his face paling. He'd seen Sabretooth's bloodlust up close back in their days with Stryker's crew. The guy was a walking nightmare.

"Miss me, old pal?" Sabretooth sneered, his eyes flicking to Bradley before settling on Eric. "You, move."

Eric's jaw tightened. "Step aside."

"Nah, I'm the one who's sorry," Sabretooth said, wagging a finger. His grin widened, and claws extended from his hands with a sickening *snick*. "None of you are leaving."

A translucent panel flashed in Jake's vision:

**[New Task: Stop Sabretooth and protect Bradley]**

**[Reward: 100 Origin Points]**

Jake's pulse quickened. A mission from the system—and a reward to boost his Homelander powers. Sabretooth was about to regret this.

Metal objects in the room—lamps, tools, a radio—began to tremble and lift off the ground, floating under Eric's control. "I'm no pushover," Eric growled, his eyes narrowing.

Sabretooth laughed, a low, feral sound. "Let's have some fun." He lunged, moving like a predator.

Eric flicked his wrist, and the metal objects shot forward like bullets. *Whoosh!* A wrench, a knife, a chair—Sabretooth swatted them aside like toys, his claws shredding through wood and steel. TVs and shelves crumpled under his strength, useless against his raw power.

Eric kept up the barrage, sending more metal flying. A handful of table knives hit their mark, sinking into Sabretooth's gut. "Got him!" Eric said, a flicker of triumph on his face.

But Sabretooth roared, unfazed, and charged. The knives didn't slow him. He leaped, closing the distance in a heartbeat, his claws slashing at Eric.

Eric yanked a metal cabinet into place as a shield. *Boom!* Sabretooth's claws smashed it, the impact sending Eric flying backward. He hit the wall hard, coughing, his chest heaving. This wasn't the Magneto of the future—Eric's powers were raw, and the cramped room limited his options.

Sabretooth didn't pause, pouncing again, claws raised for the kill. Stryker wanted mutants, dead or alive, and Sabretooth preferred dead.

Before the claws could land, Jake moved—faster than anyone expected. He stepped in front of Eric and threw a single punch at Sabretooth's chest.

*Crack!* The sound of snapping ribs echoed. Sabretooth's massive frame flew backward like a ragdoll, crashing through Bradley's wall and skidding across the dirt outside. Dust billowed around the hole in the wall.

The room went silent. Bradley and Eric stared at Jake, wide-eyed.

"Holy hell," Bradley whispered. "Kid's a damn tank."
